2 DDs in a row a problem?

Hi all - I have been traveling and was shooting to just maintain for this trip. Yesterday was a DD and I fasted all day so I could do a ~1100 calories dinner out for a family celebration. Well, I promptly got sick and spent all night in the bathroom. I doubt I kept any of those calories LOL! So today should have been an UD but I had a 6 hour car ride to manage and I still felt a bit off so I fasted today too and I am not really hungry. So far I have had an orange. I am tempted to make today a DD and then have an UD tomorrow but don't want to go into starvation mode. Thoughts? Advice?

In general, we don't do two DDs in a row. The longer we exist on few calories, the slower our metabolism is directed to operate. Eventually you hit the point of diminishing returns there. You aren't eating much, but it isn't burning much either. LOL A waste of fasting and suffering if it isn't helping you to lose much weight!

But sometimes we are ill, and it's ridiculous to feel we need to force the food when we aren't feeling up to par. So those days, we're excused from JUDDDing, and we go light on the food and get in the fluids, and hope we feel up to a good UD when we wake up the next morning. I hope you feel well tomorrow.

But as much as anything, JUDDD is intended to heal us as well as slim us down. So many of us became overweight and obese because our bodies didn't function efficiently, our metabolisms were sluggish, crappy diets and/or too much food had worked against us, and for a myriad of other reasons. And those problems with our optimum function is what we want to address with this way of eating. So following the Up/Down cycle works the best for all of that. It'll be a good thing when you can get back to that. In the meantime, pamper yourself.

I've done it a few times to change my rotation so I can enjoy an UP day on a special occasion. (I've also done 2 UP days in a row to change the rotation). It's all a wash in the end.

I don't do two DDs often, and it's been noted that the returns are negligible. I agree.

It may even slow down the action of SIRT1, but that's a theory, and I can't comment either way.

I don't believe it puts anyone into starvation mode after one day. Not at all... it takes more than that.

And hope you feel better!

Yep - get better. Eat what you need to eat - or don't need to eat.

Sometimes when I'm sick, I am ravenous - other times - I can barely have broth - so I think you need to listen to your body. You never know it may pass and you'll be ravenous by the end of the day - or it won't.

Just feel well soon!

thanks all - 2 DDs seems to have had no effect on weight loss (or gain) at all. Still stable but feeling better. Today is an UD and the world keeps spinning.
