My worst fear!!! I am scared to death of spiders!! Lucky for us we dont have brown recluse around here. I know a lady who got bit by one in N.C. and she looked like a bowling bowl was thrown into her leg. It was horrible. She didnt know, she was just visiting, or it wouldnt of been that bad she said. She is from here and well like I said we dont have them, she said she was sleeping and felt this pain. But she thought her leg was just laying funny under her and didnt think anything of it, til the pain got worse and worse and worse. By the time she went to the ER, she said it was almost 2 hours later. She said she only went to the ER because she actually thought it was a blood clot, she was shocked to hear a spider bite!!! EEKKK!!!

Sorry you had to go through that. I do hope you feel better really soon!!!

Thanks for all of the support and suggestions....the bite seems to be getting worse...I'm trying to post pics....My doc (who boards at my barn so I have his cell and we communicate a lot)...has me taking pics daily.

I took advice on here and have applied Kaolin clay poultices.....and I put tea tree and lavender eo's in the clay. I've put apple cider vin on it.

My doctor is adamantly against the use of steroids for this. I went along with it as my friend Ray was misdiagnosed last summer....he went to ER and was told it was shingles. The treatment for that was steroids and antibiotics and his bite left a softball sized chunk missing from his leg and the specialist he ended up going to said it was the steroid....if you google it it's confusing....some sites say yes to steroids some say no. So since Bill (doctor) said no I'll concur.

I'm working on getting pics on here....I'll start a new post.

my experience is that poultices work for a long while after the initial bite. Of course, best case is that you get them on immediately and continue to reapply, but I've found it can help even a week out.

Perhaps I misunderstood how long ago she was bitten. I assumed since she had been it the dr and was already on meds it had been a few days already. But I stand corrected pirate Jenny.

I might add that adding some activated charcoal to the poultice can be very detoxifying. Charcoal absorbs many times it's weight in toxins. I have used it internally many times to save the lives of my goats when they have eaten a poisonous plant. I also use it in a clay facial mask. The essential oils might be of more benefit to you if you put them directly on the bite. When you begin healing there is a wonderful EO that can help prevent scarring. I really hope that your course of healing goes smoothly. I would not have taken the steroids either. Feel better soon.
