Blew it BIG TIME today!!! DD disaster....

My husband and I took our belated weekend trip into Boston yesterday/today, yesterday was an UD and I did fine (guesstimated but plugged the numbers later on and did good). Today however...we walked about 4 miles around the city and I was STARVING, the closest thing was a Duncan doughnuts so I got a chocolate galzed doughnut and Diet Pepsi (270). We wandered around some more and hit the Chipyard (best chocolate chip cookies around!!) ate 2 (200), got in the car on the way home, ate 2 more (200), went to the Burlington Mall to get some lunch on the way home, the husband wanted pizza so I got a slice of peppers and sausage (400....it was a big piece!). My mom was kid sitting and when we got home we found out she made me cupcakes! Ate about 1/3 of one (50). My DD are typically 600 cals so you see the issue, my willpower just vanished after our walk this morning! Should I just make tomorrow a DD or make today a MD or what, I kinda don't want to mess with the rotation as Friday is my Birthday and it should be an UD, but I would like opinions, should I just write off today as a Mothers Day/Anniversary mess up and just get back to it tomorrow? I was doing so well until today! Annoyed at myself!!

don't worry! It's not that bad. We all mess up! (You should have seen my two UUAAADs last weekend! OMGosh!)

If I were you, I would eat some more, make this an UD and go back to rotation tomorrow with your DD.

You should not make this a MD or you will really be starving tomorrow. JUDD shouldn't be miserable, remember?

Just keep in mind you should never have a MD before a DD. Anytime you use a MD it should look like: DD - MD - UD.

You may be up on the scale tomorrow, but I'm sure it will be water weight and will come back off after a good DD or 2.

I was just suprised how off course I could go today, I do know that my TOM is right around the corner and that sure didn't help. Now that we're home my out of controlness is gone and I could easily make it on a small salad tonight, I will be busy all morning tomorrow so food won't be on my mind. So no MD today you think?

Me too. After visiting FIL in hospital, we came out into a glorious summer evening and decided to go for a a couple of wines and a Pizza.

So, tomorrow becomes my DD, today was definitely a MD.

Life happens, just climb back on the wagon and it will be fine.

It's not recommended. A MD for you would be 1150. Maybe you could eat lots of lean protein with your salad. Something like FF Greek yogurt and maybe tilapia or some meat or poultry. I recommend trying to get your grams of protein up to at leat 75 (do it with low calorie proteins. Maybe some whey protein isolate powder).

If you can get your protein up, then eat between 1200 and 1500 calories IMHO I think you can breeze through a DD tomorrow and it will really pay off.

Shaving 200 calories off the UD limit is not really a big deal.

Stay away from simple carbs the rest of the day because if you have more cupcakes and cookies, you will most likely wake up hungry tomorrow.

There is not really a "wrong" way to do JUDD. So, if you want to make today a MD and tomorrow a DD you can experiment and see how it works. I'm just sharing my experience and what I've read from veteran JUDDers.

Good luck with whatever you do! And, no guilt about today, ok?? We are Judding so we can enjoy life and not suffer and not feel guilty! Ever!

I say call it a MD, do your planned UD tomorrow and carry on; otherwise, you'll be setting yourself up for a DD on Friday, which is what you want to avoid, right?

You just took a little side trip - you're still on course.

As Yam-Yam suggested, I would try to eat a lot of protein and veggies tonight (maybe some broccoli or spinach/kale if possible, not just a lettuce salad) to get in some nutrition after those cookies & stuff.

And, yes...chalk it up to Mother's Day!

Becky,

You are not alone. A lot of big-time losers have occasional unplanned over-the-top days. Success lies in learning from the experience then getting back on rotation. This may slow you down an itsy-bitsy bit. It may not slow you down at all.

But it will not stop you.

Tomorrow is UD. Enjoy it as planned.

Finish today's MD with something healthy. Your body needs it. It really does.

Everything is actually alright. Sounds strange, but it really is.

I was thinking of doing ^ this or Gosh forbid 2 DDs in a row (Monday + Tuesday). I think with some careful planning I can handle 2 DDs in a row, but maybe my Birthday being an UD is not such a biggie, so I'll do a DD tomorrow then go from there.

I still vote for keeping with your original rotation.

1) You needn't punish yourself for being human and enjoying your little mini-vacation with your husband, and

2) Doing two DD's in a row puts you in danger of the dreaded starvation mode. The piston needs to go up and down, not down and stay down.

3) Mostly #1, seriously. You don't need to "atone" for today.

You've done well over all, you're rocking this in general, and why set yourself up for a restrictive birthday day when you don't need to?

I've decided to keep my regular rotation, which would make today an UD, which I will do, but I'm going to make it a super healthy low carb day, meats, eggs and veggies that's it. I think I need a couple purely low carb days per month, been eating too much junk and too much wheat.

Yeah, I was feeling rather cocky when I was thinking about doing that!

UD is going well, so far two pieces of chicken strips, just plain. Gonna have scrambled eggs for lunch.

On a side note I weighed in at Weight Watchers this morning (still going even if not following their plan ) and lost 1/2 pound! I fully expected a 3 pound gain!!

I was Shocked!! I told the lady at the scale to not tell me what it said because I just knew I would be up due not only to the fiasco yesterday but also "lady issues" . I got into the car and took a peek at my booklet and saw that I was down, even if was only by a little bit, made my day!
