I'm not really into the ACV thing. I like the taste & health benefits of the lemon. I'm not familiar with the capsules. I'm trying to increase my water intake to balance my hydration, salt & prevent water weight gain so for my purposes, the capsules would defeat the purpose.
I'm not using the lemon water as a diuretic, per se, just offering my kidneys all the raw materials they need to do their job efficiently.

I kinda wish there was a thread that talked or listed everything you should do or use to make this the most successful WOE. Example 1. Follow dr. Js recommendations based on current weight with no exercise, drink 8 glasses of lemon water."drink BPC with x amt. of ingredients, etc etc. I know everyone is different but it seems those who are very successful do some very specific things? Supplements, certain amount of carbs..never eat protein until..aaaahhh took much info. To know

I think we all are very different. I had one BPC ever and CO totally stalled me. Even when I counted it. I eat all the carbs my heart desires while staying in my numbers. I drink about 20 oz of lemon water usually in the evening, but more in the warm weather (I don't think the lemon water leads to weight loss for me, but water is healthy so that is good.) I believe that our collective wisdom is to use Dr.J calculator at your current weight, no exercise, 20% WLM, but everyone has to do what works for them. We usually recommend not dropping your numbers till your weight loss stalls and personally a stall has to last more than 2 weeks if you ask me. We also feel that it's best to count UDs until you are very clear that you intuitively eat that amount give or take a 100 without counting. We seem to agree that the bigger the gap between your numbers the best results. We do not recommend borrowing calories from UDs to use on DDs. Some of us can do the other route where by we eat only 100 on our DD and slide 150 to our UD. I wouldn't do that right away, but as that UD number drops, and it does as you approach goal, some of use have done this with luck. Finally most of us agree that eating back exercise calories s unproductive and not really necessary unless you are in training for an iron man. Our bodies are very adaptable and most of us do not burn what we think we do when exercising.

I hope this was somewhat helpful.

We are all so different that a list like that just wouldn't work. I think the most successful JUDDDers have basically just followed the plan without too many tweaks or hacks. That's just my opinion, but I really believe it to be true. It's fine to do experiments and see what works best for your body and to keep you satisfied, but what works for Carly doesn't work for me. What works for me, doesn't work for others. Just follow your numbers, truthfully and consistently, and it should work.

Yes, this is a great thread.

I am a firm believer in ACV but not everyone can drink it. While on extended vacation during the last part of the year my knees starting giving me problems when we were out walking around a lot. I realized I had not been having my ACV each day, just intermittently, like I should. Now I'm back on the ACV, as well as using other things to help as well, and my knees are much better.

I drink tons of water. I have for a long time. Lemon is a wonderful additive to plain water for everyone. All the reasons given at the beginning of this thread make it clear that lemon juice is a good thing.

For a treat, I like to crush some ice, add lemon and a squirt of stevia and enough water to make it slushy. yummm I even have it this time of year when its cold outside, I like it so much.

Thanks, Yam! I'm so glad this thread was revived and everyone can find out how adding lemon to water is so simple to do and gives great benefits. I love these kind of "fixes".

I've been drinking mine without sweetener, too, and I really like it. You are right. Very refreshing. I put the juice of one lemon into 16 ounces of water with crushed ice. I do have Stevia and Truvia in case I want a treat or a slushy.

Thanks for bumping this up! The lemon water is really, really helping me. (Makes me go to the little girl's room even more often than I already do, but that's ok!)

I fill up a 16 oz glass with water, squeeze the juice out of one whole lemon with a hand juicer = old fashioned! Then pour that on top of the ice and water and just stir. Thought I would love it more with Truvia, but I'm kinda liking it as is.

Definitely an appetite killer for me. Love it!

It would probably work with the concentrate, but I don't know if there are additives in that.

I've used true lemon in a pinch or when out and about.

I do think the concentrate is good. I've used it in the past. It lasts a long time in the fridge.

ACV is apple cider vinegar. Most use the organic version with the "mother" or the cloudy, pulpy liquid.

I continue to worry about eroding the enamel on my teeth. I already had places near the edge that are a bit translucent :worried: so I've ceased drinking the acidified water (acv or lemon).

You guys don't worry about this?

Separately. I have tried putting both in together, but find I drink more quantity of water if I either do one or the other. Just tastes better to me.

I've never had that problem, so I don't worry about it. Maybe drink 8 ounces of lemon water and then brush your teeth? Or ask your dentist for some advice, maybe.

My dentist, Yam
-- wants me to cut my apples into chunks so I don't bite into them.
--Not drink tea or coffee, or anything acidic.
--don't chew gum (b/c I have old fillings in the back, and the pressure is bad for them)
--and wear my bite guard every night.

and of course, brush AND floss after every meal.

given that these are not really realistic expectations, I've stopped asking. They do recommend those newer toothpastes that are supposed to help prevent erosion and I think some claim to put calcium back, but once it's gone, it's pretty much gone.

sigh.

Maybe drinking through a straw?

Soren: Oh man! I'm sorry for all that. All my life dentists have told me I have very strong and great teeth. I just have too many of them! I never had my wisdom teeth taken out and my current dentist wishes I would have because he said my mouth is too crowded because of them.

Oh well. My teeth do what they are supposed to do. Chew meat! ha! So I just brush, floss and enjoy having them.

When I was drinking ACV water, my teeth got really sensitive so I stopped. It is a concern for me.

My mouth had 4 ulcers when I first started the acv water and the dentist said "acv is great for the body, bad for the mouth" but I feel so great drinking it that I cannot give it up. I found diluting it more than I was is keeping the ulcers away. I do have some enamel loss but I think that is more because of my previous 2 liters of pepsi daily habit.

Actually...don't brush your teeth right away!!!

Funny, I just wrote about this exact topic a few seconds ago on another thread!

Acids temporarily soften your tooth enamel, so you could damage it by brushing too soon after drinking lemon juice (or vinegar, soda, etc).

I think I've heard you should wait about 30 minutes to allow your mouth's pH to return to normal. Rinse with or drink plain water to help things along.
