Thanks y'all...I'm hoping to make it to the 160's next month...even 169.9 will make me happy...that's the wonder of this woe, it is sustainable for life. And I couldn't not have done it without the help of the friends on this thread. Thank you all.

Mary - great job. And thanks for mentioning your age - that always encourages me (I'll be 62 this month). I have been skeptical of losing weight and JUDDD seems to work for ANY age - and IMHO... very well! Congrats on your weight loss! Impressive!!

For me - it's now 6 months of JUDDDing... and I have dropped 25 pounds! I couldn't be happier!

WOE: JUDDD Maintenance. Ketogenic PHD.
Start Date: 11 Dec. 2011 Restart 1 Jan 2013
Summary: Post-menopause, I moved from 157lbs to 115 (weighed today) on JUDDD: so, I have shed 42lbs with JUDDD in 24 weeks.

Backstory

Pre-JUDDD, I took 9 months to move from 168lbs to 143lbs, then I tried JUDDD for the first time but it couldn't do anything for me because my kcal intake was too low and I didn't trust the process enough to eat more on UDs so nothing happened for 16+ weeks after an initial 3 lbs loss to 140lbs. Life happened, I strayed during a difficult year, and returned to JUDDD at 157lbs.

It took from late December 2012 until the end of June 2013 to shed 27lbs iirc (with 5 weeks of that being a maintenance break during which I backed into my goal weight so didn't have to move back to WLM). I maintained at approx. 127-130lbs for some months then approx 125-128 until the beginning of 2014. I shed another 10lbs approx. and (surprisingly) that only took approx 6-8 weeks.

More importantly, I've no idea what body fat percentage I was in my body composition when I weighed 168lbs nor 157lbs. However, when I reached my initial goal weight of 130lbs, I had a Bod Pod assessment in July 2013 that reported I was 42% body fat at 127lbs.

I had a DEXA scan in March 2014 at 117lbs (afternoon weight, so approx. the same as now) and my lean body mass had remained the same at approx. 84lbs but my body fat was now 30.4% - still too high, but a helpful reduction and it indicated that I'd managed to shed mostly body fat.

It would be useful to shed another 10lbs of my body fat, to bring me into the 23-25% body fat range but I don't want to push myself into WLM if my body doesn't agree it's the right time to do this. I've no intention of jeopardising my maintenance.

Sept 2014 A recent DXA scan reported very low muscle mass (sarcopenia) so I'm still thinking about how to cope with that. I have some joint surgery to schedule. I may miss questions that people ask me or personals. Apologies if I do, it's not intentional.

I lost about 35lbs from December 2011 to summer 2012, then stayed there for two years. Since returning to JUDDD on 6/27/14 (and now post-menopausal), I've lost just shy of 8lbs in a month, which blows my mind

Same, same, same! Alcestis - I just had to post this:

I lost about 40 lbs from January 2011 to summer 2012, then stayed there for two years. Since returning to JUDDD on 6/27/14 (and now post, post, post -menopausal), I've lost just shy of 7lbs in a month, which blows my mind.

Is there an echo in here? Or maybe we were twins, separated at birth?

Alcestis, Carly, Heather, and SlowSure and everyone else on this thread that shared your journey: You guys rock! I know for me, this thread is a huge motivator.

I keep thinking, is their another way, or another way that I can add to this to make my weight loss go faster, but looking on here and seeing these consistent losses, motivates me to keep doing what I am doing. I have never been happy on a "diet", but I am very happy, thrilled, excited about this WOE. This is not just a "diet". This is a life changer. I hope that people will keep updating and posting. I know it helps me, and I am sure it will help others.

I've been on the diet since jun and this is my 7th week and currently weigh 241lbs.. You would think at my weight I would lose rapidly but I have only lost 6lbs so far which isn't a lot.... but that is 1lb a week without a lot of effort really so if I continue that's 52lbs a year and I'm looking at the long time goal...... Logging my daily weight over this time has helped me to see that my weight jumps up and down a lot depending on the time of the month and beforethis has usually ended with me giving up because I find it difficult to lose weight cos of the fluctuations in my weight all the time. I will keep going as I know it works as you are all testament to that x

I re-joined JUDDD exactly one month ago. I've lost 10 pounds. I went from 265 to 255. Yay! I am 57 and so I'm happy for a 2-lb per week weight loss.

What I'm most grateful for is a healthy awareness of my health and eating patterns and a huge lessening of cravings.

starting 6/7/12, at age 50, i lost 18 pounds doing moderately low carbing. found this site, switched to JUDDD, and proceeded to lose 98 more pounds with JUDDD. i would love to lose more and will probably do so, but for the time being am in maintenance since 3/14.

i currently do fast-5 while maintaining and throw in 1000 down days when the scale goes up. works like magic. i keep meticulous records of my diet venture.

love this lifestyle and tell everyone who'll listen about it. amazing how people are so afraid to give it a shot.

Good job on losing 6 pounds.
********************************** ** *************************
For all those slow losers, I was looking back at some of these people with huge loses. Their average was 5-6 pounds a month. And here they are down...50,75,100 pounds. I have to remind myself this every day. We will get there. We just have to stay on plan....if we get off plan, get back on plan as soon as possible, and keep moving forward. We can do this. I am bound and determined to be a weight loss success.

Keep posting people! This is the most motivatng thread.

When I lose the last little bit of this vacation weight, I plan to go to 4:3 and try to maintain with 2000/1000. I have maintained very well (excluding vacations ) for a long time now, doing all sorts of different plans, but I always come back to JUDDD for its simplicity.

ETA: It's been a year and a half since I started maintaining at 165, and lost some more along the way. At my lowest (142), I had lost 135 pounds. I'm at 151 right now, but that's after allowing myself to go hog-wild on vacation a month ago, and then pretty lax rotations for 2 weeks after. I was up to 160 (a lot of that water) and back down into my comfy size 6 jeans with just a couple of good weeks of rotations. JUDDD is a miracle plan for me.

Amen! Yes Kay - What you said here is SO important! It can't be said enough. I've loved your attitude since the day you started around the time I did.

I must add - I also did a review of some of the maintainers' loss history (I'm a satistic nut) and noticed one had a 26 and then a 30 day run with NO LOSS. They still kept going to maintenance. Whereas I dropped out after I had a 30+ day stall. I should have kept going. I ended up stalling for the next 2 years on my 1200 cal a day anyway. See the turtles DO win the race! Anyway, I think you and I are convinced this is it for us and we want to go all the way.

Wow, Heather. I didn't realize they had stalled that long. It is good to know. I so agree with you. This is IT. Thank you for the kind words. I just want everyone to know what a miracle this is. Nothing was working for me. But this crazy WOE is working. One day I can eat what ever I fancy. The next day scale it back. Once you get use to it, down days really is not that hard. What I did find hard was every diet I ever tried.

Mom23 - Yup! Me too! I'll go hang out with you on your journal. Maybe we can hold hands if (or should I say when) our losses slow up. We'll just saddle up our turtles and ride it out to the finish line together.

BTW: 5-6 lb loss doesn't sound slow to me - that's over a lb a week! I think it looks slow to you because you just lost 10 lbs your first month. Great start! Keep the momentum going. There's power in that, that when broken, is hard to get back. But eventually slow downs have to be expected and accepted I think. Mine's due any minute now.

P.S. (Why did you have 23 kids?) Sorry, I've been wanting to say that for so long.

I agree, those loses really are not slow, but sometimes we look at others who can lose 10lbs every month. I really do hope that I can at least lose 5lbs every month, hoping for 10, but I will try my best to not get off this "turtle". You have my permission to drag me back up if I try to hop off. Would love for you to come on over to my journal.

i ended up back with juddd and threw my hands up, but kept at it because i was afraid i'd start gaining. then i'd read somewhere that sugarless gum can cause a stall. i quit the gum, and within ten days, i lost 15 pounds, bringing me to an average of 5 pounds a month for that plateau.

i sincerely believe that as long as you're honest with yourself (keep records, don't trust your memory!) and you stick with the program, it will come off.

*i have since gone back to gum. love it!

that is a wonderful plan. those 1000 calorie days are really a breeze for me after so many <500 calorie days.

Similar to my neighbor who wasn't losing on his WOE. So he stopped drinking a liter of zero calorie diet soda a day and dropped 10 or 15(?) lbs. shortly thereafter.

Yes! I was thinking, 'Wow, 1000 calories every DD? That's going to be sumptuous!"

I started JUDDD six months ago, and I've lost 43 pounds. Made my first goal weight, and then revised it downwards. Fifty-five years old and post menopause. Lately I've been doing a mix of HDE and fasting, rather than strictly sticking to alternate days (basically I only eat when there's something really good in front of me and I'm hungry) because this works better for me when I'm socializing a lot. JUDDD has taught me that I don't have to eat at any particular time nor do I have to eat just because I'm hungry.
