Trying again

After a successful first month (10lbs down) I gave up on controlling my emotional eating and fell off the wagon for two months.

Well, I'm back to JUDDD and I'm excited, albeit a bit nervous that I'll fail again. Now I sit here at my computer with a bowl of cabbage, hot peppers, grainy mustard and cow cheese. The heart burn might kill me but it tastes good for my first DD in ages!

Anyway, I just wanted to say "hi" again - I appreciated the support I got when I was last here!

back! I agree with what Tina said. Lots of us get discouraged but there's always someone here with support and inspiration and that has kept me on track. Glad you're feeling better about things.

I am so disgusted with myself. My kids were driving me crazy and I was getting dinner ready for everyone else before leaving for work and I totally gorged on everything I could lay my hands on. Maybe I should give up before I start this time...

NEVER GIVE UP! The beauty is that.. We are all human,, we all have our moments.. but we dont let those moments control how we will chose to live the rest of the time.. So what you had a gorge day~ It dont matter,, just start again. at your next meal~ Not the next day,, the next meal! Take back control one meal at a time. Give yourself permision to be kind to your self.. and more understanding when you give up... then get back up.. and take back that control! You can do this,, you did it before,, we belive in you! Belive in your self!

Oh stop you know you can do this. You have just enough time before the weather gets really warm and we have to wear less clothes lol. Believe me, if we use our kids as an excuse to eat we would all weigh a ton. Just come here when you feel yourself slipping.

Thanks for the support all of you. I am not going to give up at this time, but I am feeling rather defeated. I know the kids aren't an excuse to eat, and it wasn't them that made me eat, it was all me. I have battled emotional eating since I was a teenager and it seems to be getting worse, not better. When I'm feeling ok DDs are actually quite satisfying, but when I'm feeling upset then a DD makes me feel so very restrained, angry, sad etc. that I occasionally lose control.

Glad you're back!

One thing that helps many of us succeed here is that we spend some time here almost every single day, reading and truly interacting with the JUDDD BUDDDs, and that activity helps keep up our level of motivation and commitment.

Secondly, making certain to post about any problems that we might be having, and asking questions freely, is a big, big help in making sure difficulties are overcome early on, helping to guarantee success.

Thirdly, having the patience to hang in here, even through those occasional times when we deviate from course a bit. Or a whole lot. If you continue here, even when you are having trouble staying the course absolutely, you will find that you get past that troubling spot faster, and you will get back into good weight loss mode sooner.

And finally, realizing that you will be eating daily for the rest of your life, so maybe it would be a good idea to have some plan about it all. So while you are doing all that eating.. the shopping and preparing and presenting of your home-cooked foods and your ordering and savoring of your meals ordered out, you may as well sort of do all that in accordance with some *plan*. -- For most of us, doing all of that without any plan at all was what got us here to begin with!

For myself, I finally realized that if I'm going to do all this eating for the rest of my lifetime, following the JUDDD plan, even if very loosely sometimes, would gradually turn me into a slimmer person, enjoying all this great food, instead of an overweight woman, who was likely to remain overweight without any eating plan at all.

It's definitely worth following some eating plan to become a good weight if we are a person who can't be slim by eating *free choice*. And most of us wouldn't be here if our concept of eating free choice worked for us!

Yes, I so agree!! I love coming here everyday to chat, post my menu for the day, read up on what's going on over here, and that helps me so much!! I am also an emotional eater, but with JUDDD, you can curb it down with DDs, and still get to enjoy delicious foods!!!! Now that I've been doing this WOE for 2 months, I don't even get the urge to eat everything in site, not like I wanted to do when LCing, and that's why I could never stick with that plan!!

Get on board the JUDDD train, know that we are doing this for US, and watch those pounds finally disappear; we can so do this!!!

Yes, visit here often, we all have issues and this is the place to work them through.

And remember, none of us is perfect. That is fine too.

LOL!

Well, yes... except these days I don't consider any foods to be naughty. I just eat the higher calorie ones on UDs and eat only low calorie foods on my DDs.

So, ahhhhh, good ice cream, Dairy Queen, Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, Bit-o-Honey candy, giant Hershey's Symphony bar, some dark Hershey's chocolate, two handfuls of leftover Easter candy (but just the chocolate pieces), tons of fresh fruit, potatoes, peanut butter sandwiches on Health Nut bread as well as peanut butter spread on snack crackers, three pasta meals and one Noodles and Co. Asian udon noodle meal... that is most of my *higher carb* choices.

And then I also ate beef and chicken and eggs and salads. Cabbage and variety lettuces, spinach, broccoli, etc. etc. etc. on and on..... All the regular low carb foods as well. Steak and shrimp, etc.

In other words, I no longer have any foods that are off limits to me. I eat ALL of the delicious low carb foods I did before and that we all love so much, AND I also eat all of the high carb foods that were off limits to me previously. Now I eat anything and everything - I just eat on the JUDDD plan. No *naughty* foods. Just food.. the JUDDD way.

Hey Cello!

I encourage you to treat emotional/stress eating as an aberration - not an inevitable pattern. If it happens, the next morning resume JUDDD on your normal rotation just like nothing happened. As Cindy says, With JUDDD tomorrow really is another day.

Start fresh each morning. Really. Don't say 'Today I am not going to get overwhelmed and lose control'. Say, 'Today I am going to eat my planned calories".

Although I had already made it through several high stress situations without eating inappropriately, I found reading Brain Over Binge gave me some valuable insights into dealing with triggered and learned behaviors.

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.

I hope you can find a way to stick to JUDDD this time!

But as a Plan B, there are other types of IF that might work...Fast 5, for example. Either as something to throw in every now & then, or another option if JUDDD doesn't work out.

I mess up a lot of DDs...I cook dinner for my son & then I want to eat with him...lately I've been fasting for most of the day & only eating dinner. It's not JUDDD but at least it's a plan...lol...I keep hoping it will segue back into JUDDD.
