Sophie, you have always had great advice, but this time you have outdone yourself! This is such a thoughtful post on your part, and thought provoking for the rest of us. Thank you for taking the time to write it all out. I will take the time to reread it a couple of times, and really digest what you have said. I am at a "setpoint" in weight loss right now,one that I stick at everytime I am losing. Maybe one or more of these suggestions will be just the thing to get me past this point.

Thanks admins!
So yesterday I decided to move into upper WLM, almost to maintenance. I'm going to take a month or two to maintain. I had 730 calories for my DD yesterday (usually I'm under 500). I woke to a loss this morning! 0.6 pounds, but it gets me into a new decade! Woohoo. I'm shaking it up, Baby! ![]() |

What a timely (and well versed) thread!! Sophie, you must have known that I was looking for just this information... I've slowed down in the loss department and it's not that I'm worried about it yet because the numbers do keep going down, it's just going so slooooowly. But I've gotten a bit lax about the accuracy of the calorie count (guestimating has become the norm) instead of weighing the food so I must get better with that. I'm happy with my loss (30 pounds so far), and realize it took more than 4 months to put it on. So today I'll drink more water (it's a DD), and plan tomorrows meals better than "I'll see what's in the fridge". Thanks for the pep-talk!! Great information!!!
(I agree, sticky please...) |

Way too much time on my hands!

We have to be honest enough with ourselves to know whether it's time to shake something up, or whether our slow progress might be of our own causing. Sometimes the very best way to *shake it up* is to go back to doing the plan, to being strict with true JUDDD. How do you really know how many calories you are eating on your Up Days if you don't physically measure out your foods and portions with measuring cups & spoons or you don't weigh your ingredients on a scale? Guesstimating is only as accurate as your ability to accurately guess is, and if you are running into trouble with weight-loss-slowdown, the only change that might be needed to rev up your rate-of-loss could perhaps just be in following JUDDD more accurately. Just a thought here... For mental diet fatigue, I did find that taking periodic *breaks* from dieting helped my outlook. But if you do this, you sure do have to know yourself well enough to KNOW that you will get back to dieting for weight loss again shortly, so that you actually can get to the size you want to be for the rest of your slim & trim life, and you have to KNOW that you won't go back to former poor eating (overeating) habits and regain pounds and end up back where you started. :-( Good luck to us all in following JUDDD for our effective weight loss and for our enjoyment along the journey, and here's to us in our successful maintenance... whatever we have to do to get there.

I am personally a little "diet" weary. The fact that I have been dieting for 30 years might have something to do with it, or that over the last year I have lost 50 lbs with hcg, lc, and JUDDD. A few days ago I just got weary, I am 13 pounds from my goal and I have made a decision to take my DD calories to maintaince level for a couple of weeks. I am just giving myself permission to relax a bit. I am still staying in rotation but moving my DDs to about 700 to 800. I will continue to count UD calories and between 1700-1900. I am also allowing myself a FD on Mother's Day then Monday will be a DD to stay with the rotation. I will see what happens. Hoping this will give me the freedom I am wanting and it will be right in the middle of TOM so I won't be freaked out from what happens during that visit.
I just wanted to share my intentions. Will report how it goes. Melissa |

Feel free to pop in to the Maintenance Lane thread for support on how to 'do' maintenance, and share your experience. And then, when you've rested, just drop right back into wlm and reach for goal. |

Imagine any other program that would allow you to go into maintenance for a 'rest' and then go back to wlm?!?!
JUDDD not only allows it, it is recommended by many, including myself! |

I am thinking about trying maintenance too! I want to enjoy my leisure time coming up. I will report back on how this is going. I am going to do maintenance level Judd while on a 4 day trip starting this weekend. My hope is that it makes the trip easier and more enjoyable, I don't gain weight and it shakes things up since I have lost exactly (hmmm, let me think) .... NOTHING this month yet. I'll report back.

After reading, re-reading, re-reading again, I decided I'll try the Pirate Jenny MUDDD with a day being 6 pm -6 pm. I had to chart it out to get the rotation to make sense, but maybe this will help solve my problem with the super hungry DD for the past 3-4 weeks. Every day has at least one UD meal, so. . . I'm committing to 2 weeks and then will decide what's next!
There is so much info here that I almost missed Dawn's post about moving to a new decade--way to go!

Well I've tried shaking it up, reducing DDs, cutting out diet soda, drinking lemon water, adding exercise and still - NOTHING. I'm starting to resent this woe because I feel like it's completely unfair that I am not being rewarded for making it through those DDs. The only reason I keep going is because I don't want to gain. But this can't be right. I'm just maintaining for the last 4 months by JUDDING? It can't be. Sorry to be such a downer but I just don't understand why nothing is happening.

Skinjob: I feel your pain! May I ask how tall you are? And also, when did you hit the weight you are at now? What WOE did you use to get from 157 to 148? How long did that take? I'm thinking maybe you could cut and paste this post into a new thread. Reason being, I'd like to hear what Pat has to say. She has lots of experience, wisdom and insight. I'm amazed at how she knows how to get to the heart of the problem. I only asked how tall you are because if you are very close to a good weight for you, your body is going to fight you tooth and nail to hang on to your weight and maintain it. Also, it's hard to tell how long a body stays in "Weight Rebound Mode". There are hormonal things happening inside us after we lose a certain amount of weight (which seems to be different for every person) that cause our bodies to fight to regain lost weight reserves. It's unfair, but it is what it is. Have you been stuck at the same weight for 4 months while JUDDing? I sure hope you can figure this out!! More big ![]() ![]() ![]()
