Non-losers & slow-losers Chats

Hi everyone!

I hope you all don't mind me making this thread. I thought it'd be great to har a thread for the JUDDDers who aren't losing or losing very slowly so that we can vent out our frustration and seek encouragement in one thread.. Oh as well as updates and share/discuss tweaks that will help!

(also because I feel bad for making new threads revolving around the same problem but that's the only way because old threads don't get much responds with time)

Other JUDDDers are more more more than welcome here. We'll be very glad to have your valuable inputs too.

Please visit this thread regularly as it'll be constantly updated!!! Hope to hear from you guys. ) *big hug*

Good idea. I've lost only two pounds since starting over a month ago.

This is probably due to cheating by having two UDs at weekends and Easter and birthdays where UDs were probably well over my upper limit.

I also get really hungry on DDs so I go over 500 most times by a 100 or so.

So no surprises I have not lost more.

Re-committing to watching my UD calories now and trying for 500 DDs.

My search is still for really filling foods that will make DDs sustainable.

Considering those cheats and UDs, losing 2 pounds's great!

I'm trying a few strategies for my DDs. When I first started, I tried to space out all my calories but I found it hard because a 100 calorie meal isn't filling and left me hungry!
Then I fasted, didn't drink too because water made me hungry, until dinner where I ate. But that caused me a gain probably because of water retention?

Now I drink up like no tomorrow, until mid afternoon and I eat half my DD allocation and another half for dinner. I'm used to eating before 6pm so that's my last meal of the day.

I guess you can try with appetite suppressant drinks/food like black coffee, lemon water, apple cidar vinegar diluted with water (taste like unsweetened apple flavoured sparkling water. Not a fan of it.)

Filling low cal food for me would have to be shirataki noodles (but I've stopped because I wanted to see if it's the culprit of my loo problems >< TMI ), konnyaku jelly (huge portion for only 50 cal).. Lots of veg. Certain fruits but I tend to avoid them because sweet stuff makes me hungrier.

Others have mentioned wheat cream but I can't find that here in my country. Maybe you could give it a try?

Start Date: eating lowcarb since 2005
I'll join in. I have been juddding for a pretty long time now, since the beginning of the year and have never gotten to my 140 i would like to be at. I started at 150 and and hover between 144 and 147. There are times i go back up to 150 but it comes back off pretty quick. I dont have any idea what the problem is with me. I have been down below 140 once last year adn i was way too skinny. The only reason i havent left juddd for a different plan is because im just too dang happy eating this way. I lost about 130 lbs eating lowcarb and ate lowcarb for 7yrs until finding juddd. I started creeping up in weight when i really added a lot of heavy lifting weights and so i was eating more. I played with a couple plans and found juddd and havent left. Its been wonderful eating "normal" again. I can actually eat out with family and have what they are having, i can eat here at home and eat the same as my family. I have great appetite suppression on my DD's most of the time so im usually right around 500. My UD's are anywhere from 1600 to 2000 depending on what im doing. My weekend UD is more on the high side but not outrageous. The weekdays are totally planned out in advance so the weekdays i do really great. I dont know if its just my body likes it here, my body has gained too much muscle and this is wehre im at for good, hormones, I dont know. I really get frustrated at times but then most of the time i just try to enjoy the way im eating now and now worry about it too much. Because i lost so much weight i have quite a bit of extra skin on my lower body, pear shaped, so that may be why too. I know i cant get below 140 again because i looked anorexic. I start to just lose from my upper body and my bones start sticking out really bad.
So, i didnt mean for this to be so long but i thought you might like to hear from a long time juddder that hasnt lost all of their weight but is still very happy eating this way and has no intention of changing. I think this is the best plan in the world whether i ever hit that 140 or not. For me to be able to average now 100 to 150 carbs per day compared to under 40 per day is wonderful. I still eat moderately lowcarb, i dont go overboard but its nice, very nice.
Hang in there girls, you will lose the weight. Some of it is really buckling down and gettign those good DD's and UD's and not going too crazy on the UD's.
For filling foods i do shakes in the mornings, tons of veggies through the day, yogurt yogurt yogurt. I love yogurt. big salads, and cabbage stir frys.

Wow I enjoyed reading all of that! I guess we have to think of juddd ask a way of life.. And weight loss is the additional benefits of it. I now can eat what my friends are having instead of being terribly fearful of food in the past..

Have you checked your new weight on the JUDDD calculator? It makes a quite a big difference.

I only ate 1800 of my 1980 allowance yesterday and am still at my new low. Before I'd either not count or eat up to and over the allowance. Hoping cutting the UD calories a tad will allow me to stop bouncing around so much I never lose.

Hi, I would like to chime in. I consider myself a slow loser. In 8 weeks I have lost 11 lbs, but if i were not on Juddd, I would probably be up a few lbs. So I am so thankful for those 11 lbs being off. On my dd I started the 1st 2 weeks to do it like they said, I only had 3 shakes a day, because the ones I love have 140 cal each. so 3 were under 500 but just above my allotment. And then a couple weeks ago, I added on a nutrisystem entre once a day. So now I am aroun 600 on down days. On the up days, I eat what I want normally. If I dont feel I have my protein in, I still have a shake. Because I have had it drummed into my head that protein is paramount. But it is great having a potatoe, or sandwich or piece of birthday cake or some ice cream also. I am not a big sweet eater, and only crave it when I am told I cant have it. But I do occasionally fall into a bag of tostitoes or something, and dont quit til the bag was gone. The 1st time I had already eaten a lot, and I just knew I was going to be blown up and weight up the next day, but guess what, I lost a lb. I dont understand weight loss, but I love Juddd and plan to stick to it. And I dont buy a bigger bag of tostitoes than the 1st one. I stick because I can eat, and lose, and my blood pressure. Back in 1989, I lost 130 lbs. And ended up on high blood pressure meds. I dont use them any more, and my bp is running 130's/70's. My muscles are stronger. My depression has mostly dissappeared. I am back into my old bras that I had outgrown. What more can I ask for? Tomorrow. So I am sure it will come off at its on time. I am still in the 250 range weight wise. Before I joined Juddd, I went to see about weight loss surgery. He basically wanted to do the origional one. I did not want that. I am afraid of that, and I dont want to lose weight that fast, because the last time I lost fast, and ended up looking like a deflated elephant with all the loose skin. So for me, slow is perfect.

I've been in a hormonal stall for the last 6 weeks. Annoying but not too upset since I can see how easy it would be to maintain eating this way!

I am a slow loser but it is more than likely my fault as I really enjoy UD's. I am diligent with my DD's but not so much with the UD's. BUT I am down 20 pounds since January 8 and that makes me happy. I keep pluggin along and if I can lose 20 more pounds in the next 4 months that would be even greater.

I'm here. Don't know about JUDDD cause I'm new, but I've always been in this category. The only way I lose predictably is HCG.

I'm trying to have faith...but it's hard. On HCG the VLCD are almost always followed by a loss. Even if you have to wait 2-3 days you generally see a whoosh. Eating 500 cals and seeing the scale go up is NOT making me happy. I know part of it was that I brought carbs back and I was prepared for that....I just wasn't prepared to see my weight go up after a DD. I figured UD=gain and that's fine. Then DD might initially=stall. But nope. Weight went up even though I did my DD super low carb.

This just seems to be hitting me hard because things that work for others tend not to work for me. I'll keep going for a month though. I committed. Hopefully things will turn around a bit. Soon.

yep - it's the fairness thing that gets me. If you are doing everything "right" it just seems unfair that the results don't follow and who do you blame-- your own body!! Tough to turn that frustration back on ourselves. I started on March 26th so this makes 7 weeks, 7 pounds but they come in surges and stalls. However, I am perimenopausal and nothing has worked in the last year so I will take slow loss over gaining -but probably still whine about it!

I am going to be reading this thread with great interest. I began March 18th at 180-have been as low as 171 but jump up to 173 so I will count my loss as 8 pounds in that time. Do not get me wrong I am thrilled with that because I LOVE eating this way but am beginning to wonder if I ever will see those 160's. This is where I always stall or give up after going away on vacation but I am determined to stick with it and make that breakthrough but would love to see what others are having success with to help them get past those set points. I am very good on my DD's stick to anywhere between 400-500 calories -my UD's are also not outrageous 1600-1800 -I did eat my brains out on Easter and plan another feeding frenzy of sorts for Mother's Day but generally I am a good JUDDDer LOL!! Skinjob your determination is admirable and I sure do hope that you are rewarded soon for all your hard work!!!!

I'll join and watch this thread! JUDDD since 2.1 and slowly, inched off 17 lbs! I am happy though because I was definitely going the opposite direction and for this I am very grateful!!

I wonder if we are close in age??? Only reason I ask is that for women, losses will not be as fast once you reach 40. I have tried every other WL plan, and JUDDD seems to be doable for me.

not for me. I'm still in my 30's. Not exactly EARLY thirties mind you.

I've been this way forever though. Honestly I started low carbing in my late teens. I did fine, didn't have a ton to lose or anything. Weight became a problem after I had kids and that was mid 20's. I was still low carb/grain free/sugar free.

gains and losses often show up the second day; not the first day. i have seen other people post here saying that they often show a gain after a DD.

I have been "rewarded" for bad UD's a couple of DD's later. Rarely the next day so I believe the several day theory.

In my 50's here.

I'm not a big gainer - If I eat myself silly I put on the same 3 stone over a year or two and have been able to get it off fairly easily with low carb. I've done this three times. This time though it seems harder. Last time I slimmed to 9st 10lbs I was 52 and peri-menopausal so I don't think that's the issue.

I blame the computer. We all of us spend more time sitting on our butts than we used to. Less NEAT activity.

Konnyaku jelly is made of the same stuff as shirataki noodles (konjac/glucomannan), so you may want to eliminate the jelly, too, if you suspect the noodles are messing with your digeston.

Thanks for starting this thread....I will be back!

WOE: JUDDD let me lose 30 pounds and keep it off
Start Date: Seems like forever - restart June '11
There is a lovely lady who used to post on JUDDD all of the time by the name of Leo41. She lost over 100 pounds on this WOE, but her UD calories were in the 1000 calorie range as her metabolism is so slow. Her doctor even confirmed this.

If you search for Leo41 and go to some of her older posts you can follow what she went through. She now posts on the thyroid posts for the most part.

When I became interested in JUDDD I went back to the very first posts of the JUDDD forum and read everything - all very interesting. Yes, I spend too much time on the computer at times, but knowledge is very helpful. Yesterday I read more about different ways to do IF - Mark's Daily Apple has a lot of current info and Eat Stop Eat is interesting, too. For diabetics and hypo or is it hyper glycemics (?) the longer fasts are NOT recommended.

Due to a lot of travel I find it hard to schedule up and down days, so thought maybe just waiting until later in the day to eat would work better for a bit. I'll be home in 6 weeks and then will have a bit more control, but we do eat out a lot. As I lose some weight though, my hubby understands a bit more what I am trying to do. We both low carb, so that is not a problem - there are not a lot of unhealthy carbs around. I just want to add more fruit and a baked potato back into the mix.

Everyone is doing well just by being on here and getting all of the support they can - this group is really great as everyone already knows.

Hugs to ALL

I am one who often gains after a DD and loses after an UD. It's fairly common.

Aww, i really admire and applaud your determination and patience. You must have trusted this WOE so much to stay on it for 4 months, i believe. And also because JUDDD allows us to be friends with food!

I'm with you wholeheartedly. It's great not to gain, but we're all in this with the hopes of losing~ Some days after a terrible but successful DD, you don't see the results.. that's when you feel disheartened. But i've learnt something new today (below)

Thanks for starting this thread....I will be back!
Ohman! Alrights! I was confused initially because they say shirataki noodles and konnyaku are full of fibre ect. then shouldn't it help me with the loo? and yes i do drink alot of water...

This is a random question, does anyone know how long food stays in our body before it's flushed down the toilet bowl?

in a healthy body anywhere between 12 and 48 hours depending on transit time. Anything less than 12 or more than 48 is not good.

I would say 24 hours is average and healthy.

In my experience, when I feel healthy, 18-24 hours.
Sometimes it's less, like 6-8 hours...I do not feel well when this happens, and it also doesn't seem like enough time to absorb nutrients. Happens when I eat a lot of raw vegetables or take certain medications.

A good way to tell how long your "transit time" is to eat a small serving of beets (a large serving may be a bit too "cleansing" and will move things aong more quickly than usual). Beets tend to...ummm...not change color very much during the trip!

I keep going because I don't know what else to do! Not going back to Atkins - it's not sustainable and not working for me anymore and I'm not going back to prepackaged frankenfoods! At least I am not gaining so I stick with it in the hope that something gives soon! I have lowered my DD cals this week and cut out diet soda. Hoping it will make a difference after TOm leaves.

The thing about fiber is that it works (to my understanding) by absorbing water, increasing in mass, and sort of pushing everything else through...as well as by keeping the stool soft, as long as one has enough fluid (without it, too much fiber can actually make the stool harder).

The thing about konjac noodles & jelly is, the fiber has already absorbed all the water it can (during preparation/cooking before being packaged). So they won't expand in the stomach or intestines, and I'm not sure they will help with constipation as much as other types of fiber might.
