Vanilla latte, I can only imagine what you must have gone through not losing any weight all that time and following the diet. I am not losing any weight but it is my own fault for going over on UD's. It would be interesting to know if your problem is in fact as you said not eating enough on UD's.
In any case CONGRATULATIONS on your loss, that is a big one! Perhaps things are starting to turn around, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. |

Vanilla, that sounds like a great plan. Especially the part about just do the best you can before and during vaycay. Of course, any plan that includes vacation is a great plan!
You raise a good and very thought-provoking question when you consider where your calories should be. You might be showing us that, although the doctor says the trauma is over, the scars have formed, and the body is healed, the body itself might not agree - true and complete healing might take a lot longer than the medical community can perceive. In case I forget to say it later, have a great vaycay!

Backatcha, girlfriend. ![]() WJS and Nancy - posted before I saw your posts! It was interesting when I tracked my UD cals and found I was a few hundred under. Whodathunk - me needing to eat!! Nancy, my DH seriously thinks that's the case about my body not being completely healed enough yet. And, according to the HS site, it takes 6 months to a year to completely heal. I'm 12 weeks out, so that may very well be the case. Oh, and thanks, I hope with everything going on, we'll be safe on our vaycay! Love you beautiful ladies! ![]()

Okay, I got my "old" meds on Thursday and I'm doing this "Diabetes Miracle" thing (sort-kinda; I don't have the book yet, but there's a lot of info online).
Still a long way from my low a couple months ago, but last week I weighed over 276 a few times (average for the week: 275.8), and yesterday & today I was 273.6. Earlier in the week, I had some 275s and 274s, so this week's average probably won't be mind-blowing, but it's a relief to be under 275. And my blood sugar this morning was 97--it's NEVER under 112, and usually closer to 120! 97 is pretty awesome for me!!!

WOE: JUDDD calorie cycling plan
|
I was following the Nutritional Ketosis thread, they're very interesting!
Someone had said juddd (probably) couldn't be done that way, and well you know me, that's a gauntlet thrown! ![]() So I am attempting to do juddd with high fat/lower protein/very low carb to see how it goes. I did figure I would have to increase my DD cals to 750 to work in additional fat (coconut oil, olive oil or butter) to get the ratio/balance correct. I'm going to try it a full week then see how it's progressed and if it's possible to do juddd in a ketogenic state. For the record: I tested 2 days ago (got a free meter and 10 strips) and was 0.4 according to the meter. Today was 0.8, so getting into the range they suggest which is 1.0-3.0 on the meter. I also ordered another meter to do a double check because the blood sugar reading on the nova max meter was way way off from both my other blood sugar meters (a truetest and a freestyle light). If I can do a comparison between the same model/brand, it will be interesting to see if they're calibrated the same way.

![]() Hey, we keep saying that JUDDD can be done with just about any other WOE, so why not NK? ![]() Have you been reading Jimmy Moore's blog about his results with NK? It sounds like it's really working for him. |

I have read a little of it and I do think that JUDDD can fit in with their ratios very well IF you're not completely stuck on the 500cal dd. You could, I suppose, do with just 3-4oz of protein and the rest of the 400cals in fat, get the correct ratio that way, but I'm afraid (for me) that would keep me nausious lol.
So by adding just 1-2T fat, keeping my low-carb veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, romaine, cucumbers) and my 6oz lean protein, I still get the correct ratio of protein/fat/carbs within that 750 calories and I was completely satisfied with the food yesterday, no hunger issues at all. |

My DD menu is close (I think) to the ratios Calories 472 B - 2 eggs cooked in 1/2 T coconut oil, coffee with 1 T HWC L - HB egg D - HB egg 75% fat 2 % carbs 23% protein Now I will really have to revamp my UD's to get those ratios everyday. Might be interesting to see if it will help me drop to goal faster than 1 pound per month. Last edited by adillenal; 09-19-2012 at 09:20 AM.. |

I have played in ****** and I now have an UD menu for today that is 79% fat, 5 % carbs and 16% protein. Actually looks a lot like a menu I used to eat a lot of way back in 2003 when I lost weight before.
Think I will play along with Dottie and just see if it can be done. |

I had never heard of Nutritional Ketosis (so thanks for mentioning it, Dottie), and I'm fascinated. I'm in maintenance and not looking for weight loss, but I had noticed since earlier this year that my protein intake kept creeping higher and higher on JUDDD compared to when I ate just vlc before JUDDD. I can't really increase carbs on JUDDD that much due to health reasons, so instead my protein levels kept increasing. I've been wanting to lower my protein intake and up my fat a lot more for a while now, and after reading a bit on NK, it seems like something I can try to work with, so I will also be joining you.

Great! The more the merrier
I've planned a few down days and I'm probably going to shoot for 750 cals BUT counting the coconut oil (which I have always used and never counted) just for the tracker to get the right ratio. So around 630 cals not counting that, which is right around where I settle most DD's anyway |

(If the next few days are good, scale-wise, I might even keep those TOM days out of my weekly average. Shhh!!! Don't tell anyone!!! )I got my "Diabetes Miracle" book yesterday, and turns out I wasn't doing the plan quite right. The days I got those amazing BG readings, I had done more of a "Step 2" snack the night before...but I had been experimenting, so I'm glad to know that it will probably work at some point. I'm calling yesterday my official start day. How's everybody doing? ![]() |

Yesterday was 272.4, which I hadn't seen since Sept 1st; and today was 271.0!!!
I haven't been anywhere near that there since Aug 12th, so it seems like *real* progress! ![]() |
