Anyone incorperate juicing?

Anyone do juicing while doing Juddd? How do you di it? On DD? UD? Breakfast? Occasionally? etc...

There may be some people who do - but I wouldn't like to have fruit - the fructose would affect me, even though I don't Low Carb. Fruit = hunger.

I suppose if you were juicing veggies it might work okay for you.

I say - try it and see - juicing veggies can't be bad for you - but it may not be good on a DD - I prefer to eat my calories!!

Fresh veggie juice is very tasty but the recipes always include something sweet like an apple or carrots. I think it would cause a bit of a sugar rush.

I've tried green smoothies on DDs. You can add Splenda for the sweetness and protein powder for hunger suppression. Still think we are better off eating solid food to keep full.

Not with JUDDD but I have gone on fruit fasts before and I had no blood sugar or hunger issues. But that's me. I know a lot of people cannot do it.

not sure i see the point of "juicing"--the most nutritious part of the fruit or veg is not the juice, its the fiber. getting rid of the fiber means that the sugar in these foods is absorbed easier into the blood stream because the fiber, which slows absorption, is gone.

why not just pick up a piece of fruit or cut up some veggies and have at it? why make a pretty perfect food more complicated? an apple or a carrot is easy to grab and eat, has the fiber to keep you full, and contains good carbs.

as a T2 diabetic, some fruits are off the table for me, but i can enjoy lots of veggies and some fruits, in moderation. but i see juices as glucose delivery systems, and don't see the point if the goal is to reduce one's carbs.

A staple for me now on DD's for work is a green protein shake. I use half a grapefruit, 1/3 cucumber, spinach, 1T protein, 1T flax, half cup almond milk. Add some flavoring like banana extract and some sweetener or just some sweetener. Its very filling and very yummy. If you have some gluc that makes its even better because its so thick. On my UD's its my staple breakfast now too but i use half a banana, 3 strawberries, 1/3 cut up mango, 1/3 cucumber, 2 big handfuls of spinach, 1T flax, 1 scoop protein, 1 cup almond milk and some more water. It keeps me full until lunch. I sip on it all morning. Its about 300 calories for my UD shake and about 150 for the DD shake. I am hooked on green smoothies!!!

well, I'll give you my perspective. for me, the point is that some people can't handle the cellulose and taking it out allows them to get the nutrients without pain. Juice fasting also gives the digestive system a rest so that it can heal after trauma. However those doing IF probably aren't as likely to need it.

I was diagnosed with celiac disease 8 years ago and had significant damage. I still can't tolerate large amounts of raw veggies. Hopefully some day I will, but that's not here yet. So I juice on occasion.

I disagree with this; fiber LITERALLY has no nutritional value whatsoever--no calories, no vitamins.

It may be *beneficial* for some people, but it's not *nutritious*.

When people bring up juicing or green smoothies, I always recommend looking up "raw soup" recipes...like gazpacho! Instead of trying to disguise the veggie flavor with fruit, enhance it with garlic, ginger, lemon, and fresh herbs like parsley, cilantro & basil! Make it creamy (on UDs) with nuts & avocado!!!

Juicing is a good way to get lots of vitamins & live enzymes, but many of the vitamins may be better absorbed if you consume a little fat at the same time, and the whole food (even pureed in a soup or smoothie) may be more filling than the juice.

I totally missed that the post said that. You are, of course, right.

and my favorite juice is a green mix (parsley, celery, cucumber...whatever else I have on hand) and lemon! It tastes lovely, just like lemonade. I throw an apple in for my kids too for a bit of sweet, but they love it as well!

it really is my favorite. and I make it by the quart! we actually fight over it.

I've gotten to the point where I don't need an apple for sweetness, but it does add something kinda nice. carrots can go in too. and if you like spicey? ginger!

I need a better blended so I can add harder fruits and veggies like celery, carrots, apples etc. Mine already smells like its burning sometimes when I'm blending the frozen bananas and cucumber. I would over a vitamix but cant afford one. Anyone know if the ninjas are as good as they say they are? I have a cuisinart. Its only 600 watt so its not gonna much longer the way I'm using it. I'm hooked on my green smoothies. There is a blot called the green monster movement with tons of recipes. Check it out. Pages and pages put in by tons of people.
