ok, i'm coming to the "dark side" didn't i hear ya'll have cookies??? I've decided since i am totally out of whack chemically (SOMETHING is going on in my body) and i am gaining weight to come off of my hcg way early...at this point i am simply wasting the stuff. I have gained 5.2 lbs since monday and the only way my body let go of any water weight was w/ a water pill. I know the stuff works and was totally happy as a clam R1.....this round just needs to be a wash....so Saturday will be my FIRST UP DAY!

I am really excited! I am moving soon and know my friends will have a lot of outings and partying planned...so it wouldn't be possible at all on hcg...so this works better, AND I need to find out medically what is going on with my body.

"mykidsteacher" what did you do to go about being tested for food intolerance? I have often wondered about that....knowing my luck it would be eggs and dairy! grrrrr i'm a hwc JUNKIE!

icecream junkie, good luck with your transition!

I have a coconut cream addiction over here, maybe an option for you if you decide to ease up on dairy?

welcome and enjoy,

My naturopath did a blood test. He uses a lab that uses the Elisa protocol. I don't really know much more about it than that, other than the lab is Metametrix.

Hi there Sonica, the first few DDs can be tough and I would lie if I didn't say that some people always have a hard time with them.

If you have enter 20% on Dr J's site remember that you can go to higher percentages to give you more calories. I am guessing that you are starting with 500, which is recommended. Many people here started higher and moved down and still enjoyed good losses.

Aside from the ELISA there is also the ALCAT. They work in different ways and both have their strengths and weaknesses. Neither are 100% definitive (no blood test is) but are great starting points if you have issues you can't pinpoint.

Yay Theresa! Welcome! I actually weighed in at LDW today. I had went up about 3-4 pounds over the past month. I think it's JUDDD though, the scale BOUNCES! You shouldn't be alarmed - you're very familiar with it! Don't let it get you down though.

Theresa, I love your "icecreamjunkie" name. I am not, but I may have a little this evening.

Lots of good advice here from ex HCG folks. All I can do is repeat my Siggie line,

Thank you!!!!! I do have one question.....do i just need to keep my DD cals to <500 (i think my number is 468) for the induction phase? I figured I would just eat my normal hcg menu for that...maybe a wee bit more hwc in my morning coffee! or do I NEED to do the shakes, etc? I really don't want to do shakes! ugh.....hate them! I prefer real food.
I am actually a sugar junkie! As noted by my debauchery yesterday! oh well, i am only human!
Enjoy the ice cream tonight!

Hellooooo DAHLING! How are you?!?
lol...did you see my debauchery yesterday? I went down in a blaze of glory for sure! I mean, 110% all or nuthin'!!! So, today i just ate a normal lc meal...not totally atkins, not totally hcg...i figured w/ the sugar coursing through my veins....it really didn't matter what i ate today! I'm doing a mini up day today....a DD day tomorrow and Sat. will be my first official true UP DAY! I am going to keep it very LC....p3 is what I prefer to eat anyway...so i figure i'm pretty safe. I will take whatever lumps come from my indulgence/crack w/ reality yesterday and just keep trudging forward!

I am excited to get my blood work done and figure out WHAT is going on w/ my numbers! Sushi/sashimi tonight and a glass of red wine! Then start tomorrow. I didn't even get on the scale today....had zero need...i KNOW it was up...to be certain! Oh well.....

Theresa there is no reason at all that you should do the shakes. Most of us here haven't used them, we prefer real food.

I love your excitement at this fresh beginning.

Yea Theresa I saw your debauchery yesterday! I was LMAO! Hey sometimes we just need it! I too enjoy P3 but have been enjoying some much missed carbs! I'm thinking about doing LC for 3 weeks in June but can't guarantee it!

I saw a post on Muffin Tops! Not the kind you eat but the one on your body! LOL Of course cardio gets rid of it but a couple of people mentioned hula hoops found in workout section. I so am ready to get rid of this fat around my waist so thinking about the hoop if it's not too expensive. I have a shake weight I don't use and stretchy band things...I promised myself I'd never buy another pc of exercise equipment again!

Ok, when i saw muffin tops...i started to drool...my mind instantly went to the eating kind of muffin tops! See what is wrong with my mind!?! FOOD all the time!

If you have access to a rowing machine...GREAT full body workout! I am buying a wooden erg (erg is the technical name...not sure on the spelling!) when i get home! I love to row...but too heavy to be out on the water yet!

DD yesterday at work, about 540 calories. Felt good. Knowing I have to go so low cal makes me select VERY nutrient dense and satisfying foods, and I don't eat until 10 or 11 on work days, then lunch at 2 or so if I can manage it. Then dinner and an evening snack.

UD today, my husband and I are going out to breakfast WITHOUT GUILT. Hmmm, new concept. So very exciting!

Feeling smaller today, I may hop on the scale out of curiosity....but for sure my scrubs felt much looser yesterday than they were just last Sunday! I am going to get out some capris that have been too snug to wear comfortably and see how they fit. Excited about spring/summer clothes that I may be able to wear again soon!!

LOL Kristin! I often feel like this too. But really, one of the best parts of this woe is freedom from guilt and just plain freedom from food issues a lot of the times.

Artificial Sweeteners

I am new here and have been reading this site a lot and love it. Have lost from 189 to 164, with all the help, and I have a question.

I have been reading about splenda and equal online having formaldehyde in it and every time you use it the body doesn't know what to do with it so it stays in your body and accumulates, shocking!!!, I use stevita stevia spoonable myself, but my daughter and sister in law use splenda and drinks with splenda within it. Just about everything sugar free has splenda in it or aspartame also Any truth to this? I bet stevia will go up in price even more than it already is if it is true. How do I get them to stop. They think it is all ridiculous gibber jabber. Anybody know or heard about this? Are they trying to pickle us? or kill us?
Whats Up?

Non scale bonus just 10 days in. My stretch capris fit a bit loosely and I don't look like a stuffed sausage in them! I actually get to wear them out in public!

Excellent on the capris. Speaking of sausages my fingers have been noticeably un sausage like recently...13 days in (?) I think.

So congratulations to us both on not resembling stuffed pork product!

Morning all

Today is my 2nd DD - so far I've just been drinking tea, going to try to make it a few more hours before diving into my first shake. So far today's DD has been much easier than my first one.

Good to see you all posting and doing well.

Bustinfat, there is a lot of stuff out there about what is going to kill us. I know many people here believe some of that, and some do in fact avoid Slenda.

I use it and eat and drink it in the sugar free products I cure. Mostly in drinks. I have never had any issues with it myself, but then I at Cyclamates, Saccharine and Aspartame too, I prefer Splenda simply because of the taste.

Each of us makes their own choice about what is healthy or not. Something is going to kill me. That is a sure thing.

Hi Every-"May"-one,

I started 3 days ago. Had my second DD yesterday. Weighed in this morning - down 3.5 lbs. (WOW). I had stalled on Atkins - losing and gaining the same two pounds for a month and a half - talk about a stale bounce.

I like the JUDDD bounce much better!

I was extremely skeptical about eating 500 or less calories - afraid of hunger, afraid of feeling badly. But this has not been the case. I'm impressed how in control of my "lack of hunger" has been since starting, and my energy is really high, both on UDs and DDs.

Today I paused to think about the implications of JUDDD...
I can eat normal again, even though it's every other day. Before this I couldn't eat normal any day because I was always limited to the food plan of the diet I was on, whether it be Atkins or Weight Watchers or anything else. I can bake a cake not fearing I will eat the whole thing (or even not being afraid of having one piece); I can eat an Oreo (or two) without fear of losing control; I can go to a picnic and have a burger (with the bun) and some potato salad and baked beans; I can go to someone else's house and not avoid their foods because it's "not on my diet." No more avoiding the foods I love - fruit, homemade bread, etc. I just have to have my DD's to counter the UD.

This is SO profound to me! And I'm so glad I found this forum. Such nice and supportive people here!

Jodeeras, profound is an excellent word for it. I'm only three weeks in but I'm getting more than I expected. And I expected a lot. Enjoy,
