Hi fellow newbies.
I'm on my ninth DD. I'm new to calorie counting and in the middle of a crazy traveling stint. I'm doing my best to estimate caloric intake (whipping back to my room and iPad several times each day), but I'm sure my UDs are a bit wingier than they are at home. But I LOVE the DDs! It's like I get regrounded every second day. If yesterday's UD was over or under, so what. Today I move it all forward with my DD. And 300 calories is a heckuva lot easier to estimate than 1600. This is SO much nicer than feeling like I've blown the whole thing after pie and ice cream on an UD. I almost don't know what I'm doing without the guilt I used to feel. Anyway. Blah, blah. I'm loving it! And man, I'm happy not to have a scale here. Just going by my pants, which are nice and roomy. ![]() Have a great day, everybody, ![]() Kristin ![]() |

Protein is key for me too. If I don't get enough on my UD's, the DD's are miserable. |

Hello fellow newbies!
A cloudy DD for me, but "cloudy" only regarding the weather. Until now (06:30 PM) I only had a protein shake thickened with Psyllium. Later, for lunch, I will have a kind of "Porridge" with Quinoa and Blueberries. This should sum up to 500 calories. Tomorrow - UD - there will be a barbecue at a friend's house. And finally, I can participate without thinking of "dieting". I love that thought! ![]() @Damazon: Hot broth and liters of hot tea are a great help for me too. Something warm in my stomach seems to cover the hunger. |

Tina, thanks for that little reminder about protein, I had been trying to do higher protein with weight training, but once I knew I could have "anything" I wanted on an UD, I kind of forgot about protein. Then I wanted more food in general and the cycle begins again of overeating.
I think for me what makes DD easier is that I choose more sustaining foods, I make wiser choices since I want to feel the best I can with the littlest calorie count possible. Therefore I tend to eat more protein since I know it will be more satisfying throughout the day and keep my mind off food. Looks like I need to remember that for UDs too since at this time they seem almost harder than DDs. Hmmm, curious. |

What is the gluc powder for??
Just found a recipe for a mug cake...About to put the ingredients into ************ and see what I come up with. Wanting something different for breakfast! Got this from the recipe thread: Chocolate Chip OMM 1/4 cup Almond Meal/Flour 1/2 tsp Baking Powder 1 Tbsp. Splenda 1 Egg 2 Tbsp. Butter; melted 2 tsp. Torani SF Vanilla Syrup 2 piece of Dove SF Chocolate I get my favorite fat mug. Mix the flour, splenda and baking powder in the mug until well blended. Melt butter in microwave then add in the syrup to the butter. In a separate bowl, I whip the egg well - then slowly drizzle in the butter/syrup mixture while continuing to whip the eggs. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture (in the mug) and mix well with a fork. It should now look and smell like vanilla batter. I chop up the dove into tiny pieces and fold into the batter. Microwave for 1 minute 20 second to 1 minute 30 seconds.

Yum....Choc chip OMM sounds Fab!!!!
Hi, new to the May thread but have posted before in the main Newbies. Am having a DD today and I'm realising that I'm actually loving them. I caught up with a friend yesterday, it was her birthday. It was the first time in years that I have been able to enjoy a piece of her birthday cake, a glass of Champagne and some chocolates....GUILT FREE ![]() Today I jumped on the scales and I have lost 4lbs in the 2 weeks I have been JUDDDDing. At first I was disappointed but then I realised that I have been trying really hard to lose weight (dukan & Atkins) since last August and had lost no more than 2lbs in that time. So YEY I am please ![]() ![]() It's lovely to see so much encouragement in this thread. Good luck and HAPPY JUDDDDing to one and all ![]() Last edited by Lexy; 05-07-2012 at 02:09 AM.. |

Hi everyone. I am new to JUDDD. In fact today is my first DD. So far I have only had coffee--=trying to delay my protein shake. what do you think of this plan: MWF, DD, T, TH S & S UD. On DD--protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch then light dinner with family. Will this work? I am interested in doing this not only for the weight loss, but was fascinated when I read in Dr. Johnson's book about the anti-inflamation benefits.

Welcome Elburn! I can't comment on your rotation choice. I'm only three weeks in. The experienced juddders will help you. I'm doing the UD/DD rotation as prescribed in order to see how this works without tweaking at first. It seems to be working well.
I just wanted to encourage you during your first DD, and to tell you that DDs get much easier after the first week or two. I LOVE DDs now. They're a relief. All the best today, Kristin ![]() |

Oops I posted in the newbie sticky instead of here. So here is a C & P of my post from there
Hi everyone I am Michelle, and I am no stranger to LC living. I have most recently had success with HCG *when I followed the plan*. I have had a ton of stress in my life since losing the weight on HCG, and as an emotional eater, I gained a lot of it back JUDD seems much more do-able for me than HCG right now, so I'm trying to read and absorb all I can. I have a lot of food "intolerances", so this will be challenging for me, but I'm going to do my best. At this point, any diet has to be better than the "nothing" plan I am doing now.

Welcome Elburn and Michelle!
Elburn, same here, I cannot comment on the rotation yet, I am sticking to plan as much as possible to see how it works for me, then I will tweak it. For me, if I tweak too early, I get kind of lazy, and don't count calories close enough and then here come the pounds again so for now I need to be more disciplined. Michelle, I would try to keep your protein up on both DD and UD, that is what I have learned so far. WAY more satisfying and easy to get through the day without cravings, seems to help with the emotional eating for me anyway. I love the protein shakes, ~115 cals for 25 grams protein, so satisfying and easy to stay on plan on DD. Best to each of you, looking forward to your progress! |

Hi Baileys girl, the 'gluc' powder is short for Glucomannan which, I believe is what miracle noodles are made from. A very fine form of natural fiber that seems to have many uses for low carbers. Primarily acts as a thickener. (Stop me if you have hear this already....)
I tried miracle noodles and they REALLY filled me up so I thought this would be great to add to my soups and smoothies on my down days. Not feeling quite so panicked after two better down days but previously was feeling a little anxious about sticking to plan so went ahead and ordered it. D |

Elburn and MichelleI always recommend starting with the straight rotations, most people think that DDs are going to be terrible and don't believe that they can do them at a weekend. Interestingly a lot of JUDDDers find the DDs are the easiest days. It you want to try two UD at the weekend by all means go ahead but your weight loss is likely to be slower. Then again, this is not a race so do what you think is best for you. |

HI all!
I'm jumping on the JUDDD bandwagon. I had success with HCG on my first round, but then gained most of it back (25lbs). After two failed subsequent rounds I have decided I need to put myself onto a more sustainable (and pleasant) eating/losing schedule. Something I can maintain for life. JUDDD sounds very doable and reasonable. |

Annefran,Like so many of us who did protocol and gained most, if not all of it back, you will find JUDDD to be a lot more forgiving. Honestly, JUDDD is like a breath of fresh air after struggling on P4 for me. |

It is treated as fiber by the body. Zero carbs. Wiki says it is sometimes referred to as 'broom of the intestines' so I plan to go easy at first.

Hey HCG'ers! I just did HCG last October thru this April so haven't gained any of the weight back yet and praying I don't by having JUDDD on my side! I've been on it for 2 weeks now. The first week I messed up and had 3 UD in a row so today is my official legit 1 week in. I haven't lost anything so far but also haven't really been keeping a good tally of my weigh-ins. I will see where the scale falls next Tuesday which will be 2 weeks to see if I've lost anything. I then leave on a 5 day vacation in which I will not be Juddding. At this point I'm fine just maintaining b/c that's what I'd be doing in P3/P4 anyway. June will be the month I really want to kick back in with some weight loss. I'd like to never have to do HCG again but knowing it's there for me makes me feel better!

I couldn't be more excited! Tomorrow is my last of of the low calorie eating on HCG!!
So many of you "newbies" seem to be former HCG'ers and I am wondering if you ended your VLCD and went right into JUDDD or did you do the 3 week stabilizing first? I want to make sure I don't gain any of my weight back so not sure if I should stabilize for an amount of time or just do my first day off HCG as an UD on JUDDD? What have others done? |

I jumped straight in after a lot of thought. I've done quite a few rounds of hcg and followed them to the letter. the last few I've experimented with. I do best low carb, but I knew that no matter when I introduced starch I'd see the scale go up....even on perfect rounds I gain about 3 pounds in water weight and it just stays.
If I cut all starch again it goes overnight, but then I get leg and hip pain from being dehydrated (which I also have for about 2 weeks on hcg regardless of how much I drink...and I can get over a gallon. My body just can't do anything with it when I super low carb.) Point is, I religiously gain 3 pounds from starch. Anyway, knowing I would see a jump when I added carbs, I just added them. And yes, I saw a jump. For a day or two I went over that jump too and freaked out! But it's been 8 days now and I'm back to my LDW + 2.4 for the carbs. I'm pretty happy and even though I play to stay low-ish carb, I'm not going to be uber strict about it. That's just where I'm at mentally. I think it would be better for most to follow p3 and just cycle calories. But I've been at this awhile and was feeling rebellious! Let us know what you do though! I'm interested! |
