DD shivers
I was cleaning out old magazines yesterday and was skimming through to see if I was saving them or just didnt throw them. I can across something interesting that I thought I would share.

It said our bodies have 2 different kinds of fats: The white stuff that makes our clothes snug, and the brown stuff that burns to keep you warm and full of energy. It says brown fat is most active when your cold. The article said to wear a t-shirt for atleast 15 mins to stay cool longer to burn more fat!

I guess when we are on our DD's and shivering, it really means JUDDD is working!! I am sure most of you knew this, but I thought I would share it anyways!! Heres to those DD goose bumps!! Oh and that explains my bursts of energy on DD's. I can get more down on a DD than an UD sometimes!!

this make a lot of sense to me..despite the fact that i feel colder in down days, i feel full of energy ..and i used to be drowsy when being cold !!

PixieKGirl 04-30-2012 05:39 AM

Interesting!! Love the "shivers"!!

Justwaiting 04-30-2012 06:19 AM

I hate being cold!!! But I'm loving ths silver lining:)

sterlinggirl 04-30-2012 07:18 AM

I hate hate being cold!!~ But i do love the fact that it means im buring fat~

heyjupiter 04-30-2012 08:40 AM

I hate being cold, too!

My last DD I spent curled up with a heating pad on my stomach. It was the only thing I could do to get warm. Let's hope today isn't so bad...oh wait, maybe I should be hoping for the cold so the scale rewards me in the morning!!

gotitnow 04-30-2012 09:40 AM

:hiya:Hey cutie pie Tanya! At my age and STILL having hot-flashes (or power-surges as I like to call them) it can actually feel good to be cold and "need" to snuggle up with my soft covers! AND...it has made it easier to go out and walk with the warmer temps lately! I might change my mind when temps get to 100 and beyond! I will be swimming then! It has been so weird:stars: having that extra energy:kicking::kicking::kicking: on DDs too! Love thinking I'm a fat burning machine. Hey, I wonder if when a "power-surge" is happening if there's some extra fat burning away? Those things HAVE to be good for something!!!:dunno: I'm bound to burn more energy from throwing off layers of clothing, or cover, or whatever, OFF and ON and OFF and ON!!! Okay...I'll shut up now!:p:o;) Everyone have a great Monday!:hugs:

krow134 04-30-2012 11:27 AM

You know Phyl, I was reading your post about the power surges and now I have to wonder something. DD's I freeze no matter the temps outside, and UD's I burn up! I know I am not peri-menopause yet, doc said a few more years before that happens. Curious if anyone else feels like they are frying on UD's? I can break out in sweats all day long, today as a matter of fact is an UD and I had layers this am that I am now down to capri-sweats and a tank top!! And my face is still feeling like its one fire! And I know tomorrow will be flannel pants, sweatshirt and hunting socks to keep my feet warm again!

Ty by the way for the cutie pie thing.......made me get a big ole smile!!!

sorenkkg 04-30-2012 07:42 PM

Hey, do you guys feel the shivers like right in your spine? I'm usually a hot person, easily break into a sweat, but now that I'm JUDDDing, I almost always feel something like the start of a shiver (or sneeze) right in the middle of my back... not to mention actually feeling cold sometimes.

Is that what we mean? or am I just weird? :p

b_lou_who 04-30-2012 07:47 PM

Im mostly always burning and don't regulate heat well. I appreciate the freezing fast and famine days.
I don't miss the Dallas heat at all but sure miss the people.
Perimenopause hasn't changed my heat intolerance except that there is more of it.

casmira 05-01-2012 12:49 AM

I feel slightly colder on DDs, but Ireland is very cold and wet all the time since I started this, so I'm cold on UDs as well. As I said on a different thread, it's a strange-but-pleasant feeling of electricity surging through my veins on DDs that I notice really.

gotsomeold 05-01-2012 04:15 AM

Yesterday evening (DD) I got back from a weekend trip to Atlanta. Discovered my A/C is defunct. The repair technician cannot come until Thursday.

Can I have four DDs in a row? I NEED those shivers!

Just joking :hyst:

vanilla_latte 05-01-2012 12:56 PM

I don't get the shivers on a DD, but want them desperately. Especially when I'm having a "personnal mini tropical vacation" (i.e. - hot flash  ). I'm post-menopausal - wonder if that's why I don't get the shivers? :dunno: :D

My uncle is like that too! He says he likes the bedroom warm because he hates blankets. He feels like they are suffocating him and he has to have the bedroom warm so he can sleep without them.

Truffles 05-02-2012 10:37 AM

I don't notice the shivers as much as I used to.... but it has been a little warmer here??

sterlinggirl 05-02-2012 11:24 AM

:o No shivers today on this DD.. uh oh... I like what the scale shows when i shiver..when i dont.. i also dont have any loss..:( not cold at all today ..

arkie1 05-02-2012 03:23 PM

I'm freezing today, and it is really warm outside. Hope that means a drop on the scale tomorrow. Today is a DD.

mayleesa 05-02-2012 04:43 PM

i like the correlations here....i like the validation of sorts that if i'm shivers i'm burning....messed up but cool!!

sorenkkg 05-02-2012 08:23 PM

For me, it's usually about peeing a lot. Now I'm worried b/c I didn't that much today-- but I don't think I drank very much either. Here's hoping for tomorrow morning's weigh in... <fingers crossed>

Mimosa23 05-03-2012 03:31 AM

Soren, I get those shivers starting along my spine too! And yes, I pee a lot on DD...

Right now, I could use some gloves... My hands are like blocks of ice! I'm wearing three layers but still cold...

It comes and goes on a DD, but mostly I'm definitely not warm! My BF calls it the DD refrigerator effect! He hates it, as I am so cold and like snuggling up to him in bed, because he's always nice and toasty, LOL!

On UD, I'm fine, and don't have this feeling at all, it's so weird really!

sorenkkg 05-03-2012 08:30 AM

Well, I had a DD yesterday, had a bit of the shiver in my spine (only got cold overall when I left the window open too long...) and I'm down 2lbs from my last weigh in on the 1st :D

I can stand the shivers (and DD hunger) if this is the result!

krow134 05-03-2012 08:34 AM

Its a DD here today and I am sweating to death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I think its because its so hot today here. I think last night it never even dropped below the mid 60's. Woke up sweating and went straight to take a shower. Its already 81 according to my thermometer!

OhioGuy 05-03-2012 10:18 AM
