No Rhyme or Reason, Just MAGIC!!

I am now going on to my 9th month with my chosen WOE, JUDDD and I wanted to give my observations, ideas, suggestions and (for what it's worth) opinions of this MARVELOUS WOE!!

1. There is NO rhyme or reason to how I have lost the weight and kept it off. UDs, DDs, MDs, :stars:Ds, and anywhere in-between JUDDD has allowed me to eat the foods I love, lose the weight I wanted to, and keep it off and the only little rule I have had to follow (most times :o :D) is maintain my calorie limits for UDs and DDs! Some days I lose after a DD, some days after an UD, some days not at all and sometimes there is nothing for long stretches of time, but I can say I lost the weight I wanted to lose and actually beyond, and I'm happy with the progress I have made and been able to maintain.

2. Looking over my weight loss journal (which I suggest EVERYONE use) I have seen that some days I ate more and lost more, some days I didn't eat enough and stayed the same or even gained. LC one day, HC the next, there was no understandable reason to lose or gain other than the fact I didn't eat up to my calorie levels or ate WAY more than I should have. Time and again I noticed this and it now seems I can raise those calories a bit on both days and still maintain or even lose, if need be but I do have to eat up to those calories and not make it a habit to go WAY above.

3. JUDDD's magic seems to work best when we eat up to that calorie ceiling and, for me, with the added carbs that seem to keep me full rather than how fat would do for most LCers. I was :jumpjoy: to add carbs back in when I started this WOE, and I ate some pretty  carbs until the "kid in the candy shop" mentality wore off (about 2 weeks into JUDDD) and I decided to use my calories more wisely for the carbs (veggies, fruits, whole grains) that were so much better for me and my health. Carbs are good, at least for me, when they are "good" carbs and even though I still eat a "treat" or 2, and just about everyday ;), that isn't considered LC it has not hurt my weight loss/maintenance one bit! Would I eat a dozen donuts at one time? OH, I could do this since I  donuts so much, but why would I when I know I can have 1 today and 2 days from now have another 1 or 2!! JUDDD let's us just "save" the things we love to eat for our UDs and we don't have to eat them all at once or never again. That is what my freezer is for; saving my fav things for UDs! :jumpjoy:

4. I have gained after vacations, holidays, special occasions, even every UD and sometimes without rhyme or reason, but the constant in all of this is JUDDD let's me get right back into the groove of things and the weight comes right off! Sure, it doesn't happen over night, but it comes off in what I would consider record speed.

5. I'm not afraid to gain a few pounds, here and there, especially if those pounds came from having an incredible time at an event/occasion/celebration. Food is NOT my enemy anymore, but something I embrace and enjoy again. I have control over food now, not the other way around because having control over my UDs/DDs has taught me how to eat and that eating just to eat is NOT something I need to do, even when bored or stressed. I now know when I'm hungry and full! I'm not "afraid" to eat this or that because nothing I put in my mouth is governed by whether I "can or can not" have it. There is NO guilt, want, or wish I could have! Food is my FRIEND!

6. Carbs are NOT my enemy, either. I don't feel  when I eat carbs, and actually never have. I do know I need to limit them for my Fibromyalgia, but other than that I feel wonderful eating carbs and doing JUDDD. It's the "doing JUDDD" part that is the key. The mini fasts every other day keep me youthful, healthy and energized! For these reasons alone I will always eat the JUDDD WOE!

7. I need support, besides my family and friends. I need to know there is a place and people who understand my WOE, are having the same struggles, and will celebrate with me my accomplishments! This forum and my JUDDD BUDDDs fill all my needs here! I can't imagine a day without you guys!! :hugs::love:

8. The scale goes up and down and I get :stars: and  wondering why at times, life throws me a curve ball now and then, and there are days I would just like to eat the paint off the wall BUT JUDDD has been SO wonderful to me and has given me back my freedom with food, my thin figure and many wonderful health benefits that all the :stars: times and  times ALWAYS disappear when I remember my journey and how far I've come AND that I have found a WOE for LIFE!!

I hope this helps some, inspires some, or just gives you guys a good, if needed  and I also encourage anyone who is thinking of trying JUDDD to do so and those of you who are frustrated or discouraged to NOT throw in the towel. JUDDD works, give it time and patience, and the "magic" can be yours, too! :high5::up:

Thank you Beeb, and a big congratulations on 9 months of JUDDDing. I know if it weren't for you, and some of the other experienced JUDDDers, I would not have jumped into this WOE so wholeheartedly. I appreciate your posts, and most of the time, they come just when I need them.

I may not be at maintenance - but, if I had your eloquence, I could have written the exact same post.

Such great points. This is truly a guilt free way to live. We had friends come and stay - and my DD turned into a highish MD and then the next was an UUAD - and I started to feel guilty - and then I just remembered - 'hey, it's okay, I'm JUDDDing - I'll have a DD tomorrow and all will be well in a couple of days'. And it is!

I can't wait till the end of this month to post the chart I'm currently keeping (wanted to demonstrate the bounce!!) I'm currently down 5lbs with a week to go - have had a couple of 'good' (ie highly enjoyable UD!! :)) - but have actually bounced up 3lbs above the start weight at the beginning of this 30 day period!

JUDDD allows you to take life in your stride, as has been said it's not a race - it's a journey!

:goodpost: Thanks, Beeb!!! It was really your post in the Main Lobby and your personal encouragement that got me started JUDDDing. In the beginning, I thought I could never do this and actually still find it hard to believe that I can (the DDs)! The fact that I actually like and look forward to the DDs is amazing to me. I am so thrilled to finally be at goal and hoping to go a little lower (and have little doubt that I will)! :jumpjoy:

Beeb 05-01-2012 07:20 AM

Thank you all and just so thrilled I've been able to help a bit to make our JUDDD seem less daunting and more "doable"! :hugs::up::clap:

zipp2play 05-01-2012 08:09 AM

I am a true newbie, just on the plan for 2 weeks now but in those short 2 weeks, I can tell you my DD's have taught me to enjoy and wisely use my calories. Something I didn't think, as a life long food addict, that I could ever say. Imagine how I will feel in 7 months! I haven't been perfect either. It is wonderful to hear that you too, in your journey, have had ups and downs! Thanks for sharing!
