Kind of embarrassing but
Am I the only one who is getting constipated since starting this diet? The first few days on UP days my tummy got upset, now this. I take fiber gummies everyday so I'm usually ok. Other than this I'm feeling great, but yikes I can only take so many gummies fibers. I eat a huge salad everyday. Suggestions?

I do one of these:
- 3 Dulcolax - 1000 mg Magnesium - Glucomanan jello before dinner On occasion I do the gluc jello and the magnesium. That usually does the trick. Others have said liquid magnesium helps. I just read that Diatomaceous earth also helps. I just got mine, so I can't couch for that yet. I took 2T today...I'm still waiting. <grin> |

Magnesium before bed helps me stay regular. I take a liquid cal/mag supp (Tropical Oasis) plus Natural Calm Magnesium. If things start working too well, I back off the extra mag for a few days.

As with the alternating eating on JUDDD, I find I have the problem on alternate days.....but it seems to self resolve every other day as well. I do believe it's why I'm losing slower, however, because I AM drinking enough water everyday.

I'm actually more regular than ever before!
Between the Green detox tea I drink on DDs, more veggies on both DD and UPs, and (the real key here I think), the Natural Calm and the spoonful of Diatomaceous Earth I take before bed, systems are REALLY good! ![]() p.s. Shoutout to Pirate Jenny for recommending the DE!! Don't love the taste/texture but I think it's doing some good things internally. |

Magnesium for me, I don't take it especially for this, but it does seem to work for a lot of people with issues.
I am now taking Silica tablets, not quite brave enough to try the DE. Last edited by Kissa; 04-28-2012 at 10:04 AM.. |

I'm overly confused by the number and type of magnesium in the stores. And as none say they are for this issue.....
Even searching online - I'm having difficulty identifying what I want and then matching it in the shop. I could try silica - it's good for other stuff too?? |

Just checked my bottle - magnesium citrate 200 mg. I take one and it does the trick - not immediately but with 12 hours or overnight.

Here is an additional thought: Dr. Dukan says mineral water is a great way to stay regular. He suggest Evian as the best.

I take oxygenated magnesium, which is very different but really effective. It pulls debris from the intestinal wall without irritating it. I take 3-4 pills a night with 2 week breaks occasionally. The brand I use is Mag07.
Natural Calm is awesome too! Although on some DD it seems that NOTHING works. |

1 probiotic at 10 million dose and 1 teaspoon coconut oil a day and I'm going like a champ again!!
Plus I only count the calories in the coconut oil as half what they should be because I read I can so for 20 calories I'm getting lots of benefits for the coconut oil and not having to worry about bathroom issues anymore! ![]() |

I find JUDDD helps with that. Perhaps it's the coconut oil I have in my DD coffee?
I know it's not something you should do regularly but I find a good session with a bottle of red wine helps sort out any issues that way. |

Natural Calm was a real boost for my system when I needed it. Oddly though, since I've been on JUDDD I haven't needed it at all.

I'm having this problem for about a week now. I've been a regular goer.. Just lately I do still go everyday but it's really nothing much. Idk if I'm the only one feeling this way but if I don't go much in the morning, I feel very "dirty". Not in the extreme literal sense but just unclean. I like to start my day clean

See, this doesn't make sense to me. Assuming that we're eating the same kinds of foods as before, it doesn't make sense that we would be having constipation issues. I have noticed a slowdown, but it's attributable, I believe, to the smaller quantity of food I am consuming. Less input, less output.
I don't want to offend anyone here, but the frequent discussions of laxatives reminds me of Kimkins and eating disorders like anorexia and bulemia. Not that we can't discuss them here, but I just want to respectfully add a note of caution here. If I've lost a pound of fat, but have a pound of poo that I haven't expelled, I weigh the same on the scale. It might make me feel better emotionally to see a loss, but the reality is that I've still lost a pound of fat and the rest will take care of itself within a short period of time. KWIM?

I understand about the amount one passes!
![]() And that when we do not eat as much that the amount is less. But when it is stuck that is where my problem is! I drink lots of water, have fiber but not always a go, go ![]() I have tried many of the suggestions here too, but, but! It is an uncomfortable feeling! ![]() Almost forgot - I never take laxatives, did I miss that part? Did someone say to take laxatives? I remember reading about fiber stuff, etc. but not about laxatives. Last edited by leonak; 05-01-2012 at 03:34 PM.. |

I may be wrong...one is a stool softener and the rest appear to be supplements that have other benefits as well.

I just wanted to put my two cents in here.
I have issues in that department too. I will go every 4-5 days without help and then, it is not an easy process. I have a history with issues anyway so I just automatically go to a stool softener. I can see concern for eating problems but, I honestly was not getting that impression at all from here. Sometimes the bowels just aren't reved up and need a little help. This may be due to lack carbs or just not enough fiberous veggies. Who knows? |

Magnesium Citrate There are magnesium supplements that aren't magnesium citrate, and those are probably safer, but I don't know. I just don't want anyone doing long-term damage to their body! Last edited by Luna Loca; 05-01-2012 at 05:28 PM.. |
