what in the world to order at Applebees?

I am meeting a friend for her birthday at Applebees tonight for her birthday, her choice of restaurants. I have researched and researched what to order that will stay within my UD allotment. I know they have the WW menu. I have ordered some kind of chicken off of it, don't remember what kind. I had the rice replaced with veggies. I didn't like it really. It tasted like it was supposed to be diet food.

Anyone have any suggestions on a moderate to low carb selection? I would like to stay under 1000 calories.

Do they have a menu online you can look at? It's been a couple of years since I have gone there but I remember they had a low carb section also on the menu. Good Luck

It's been a long time since I was there, but I remember liking their WW steak and veggies. It didn't taste too diet-y to me.

I would probably get the sizzling skillet fajitas (chicken). That's kind of a go-to food for me. I don't know if they offer corn tortillas, but I would ask.

You can estimate calories if they don't list them in the menu. I'd get a side salad with it as well.

But, you can happily browse the menu when you get there and go with what sounds good instead of what sounds diet-y since it's an UD! Enjoy!

I was thinking about the fajitas. I would just eat them without the tortilla.

I do that if they don't have corn tortillas. Or, if I go someplace where I know they only have flour tortillas, I might bring a corn tortilla in my purse!!!

Bourbon Street Chicken & Shrimp 750
Sizzling Steak & Cheese 1000
Sizzling Chicken with Spicy Queso Blanco 570
Bourbon Street Steak 740
Sizzling Skillet Fajitas - Steak 1410
Sizzling Skillet Fajitas - Chicken 1370
Sizzling Skillet Fajitas - Shrimp 1390
Sizzling Skillet Fajitas - Combo 1390 - 1470 (skip the tortillas on all these and they'd probably be pretty close to 1000).

Bruschetta Chicken 850 (includes sides)
Chicken Tenders Basket 1070 (includes sides)
Chicken Fried Chicken 1160 (includes sides)
Margherita Chicken 740 (includes sides)
Smothered Grilled Chicken 800 (includes sides)

Most of the salads are ok, except the oriental chicken salad, santa fe chicken salad and pecan crusted chicken salad. Those are all around 1300.

Stay away from the pastas and the burgers or sandwiches or fries.

Orange glazed Salmon or tilapia dishes ok, other seafood not.

My favs there are the hotwings (non breaded bone in) and the sirloin topped w garlic butter.
Just Ceasar on the side.

Bourbon street chicken and shrimp is amazing. Just had that last night with a salad instead of the potatoes. Their queso is also wonderful. I hope you had a great time.

I hope to never eat there again. If I'm out voted on where to go eat with a group of friends and we go there then I will just have a salad and even with that I'm not sure about the MSG. I believe they use MSG or something else I react to. The last time I went there I had the bourbon street chicken and shrimp and I retained fluid and gained five pounds overnight. It didn't even taste good. I hope others don't have the same problem.
