Really losing!

This diet is great. I've been on it for 2 weeks. I've lost 10 lbs. I'm eating pretty much what I want and I'm satisfied and definitely don't feel deprived.

One thing I've noticed this second week.....

The first week my DD was about 36 hours long.....because I don't really eat breakfast, and my first meal on UD was lunch. Well...this last week, my DD's have only been 24 hours long....I've caved and eaten after 24 hours, and I've lost more weight this week than the first week. I wonder if my body thought it was starving and now that DD's are only 24 hours .... you know what I'm saying. And another thing is now that I don't wait 36 hours to eat my DD's are easier and I don't get hungry...much easier to handle. I think 36 hours was too long without food...especially since I work outside and I'm active.

Wow, Horsetrainer that loss is wonderful!

One thing I love about JUDDD is that it gives us so many opportunities to learn more about each of our individual metabolisms. As long as we stay within the basic caloric framework we are free to experiment. I am just finishing month four and have learned all kinds of things that help me deal with different eating situations as they arise. I am really, really curious about what JUDDDing for a couple of years is going to teach me about myself.

That is wonderful!

I, too, prefer the 24-hour schedule, although I don't lose as quickly as you!
We call that MUDDD around here--Mixed Up Day/Down Day!

I'm actually confused by your schedule. Are you saying you eat nothing at all for 24 hours (36 hours in the beginning) or that your down day is 24 hours long, where you eat your allotted DD calories?

I only ask because a lot of people get confused and overthink the 36 hours. The 36 hours just means from the time you finish your UD eating (say 8:00 p.m.), then you have your 500 calories or whatever on your DD, then have breakfast (say 8:00 a.m.) on your UD and that's 36 hours. You don't have to completely fast for that time, just have your DD calories.

That's what I was wondering too Dawn. It did sound as if she was waiting 36 hours and then starting a DD..........

Here is what I've done....and I know eating at night is bad....but with what I do and my schedule it's how it is....

I work outside till 7 or so, so I come in take my shower and I don't eat dinner till about 9. In the winter it may be a little earlier.

So...I pretty much start my DD when I go to bed. Say 11. I wake up have coffee, at lunch I have a kefir shake and at about 9 pm I have broth or cabbage. I DO NOT eat processed foods on DD. I do not believe calorie counts on frozen dinners and such. They stall me. So....what happened is at about 11:30 pm last week I was STARVING and I thought well it's been a day (24 hours) that I've been on DD so I had a fried bologna sandwich and went to bed. My next DD started at 11:00 the night night. So....that is 24 hours on DD instead of staying on DD till lunch the next day which would have made DD 36 hours or more. I did that for 3 DD's and lost more weight during those 5 days than I did the first week doing it the other way. Maybe I was just lucky. But...the first week I had the ups and downs on the scale and the last week the scale never never went up....only down.

Okay, just didn't want you to suffer needlessly if you thought you weren't supposed to eat AT ALL for that length of time (though several here do fast completely and are fine with it). Whatever is working for you is what you need to do.

I'm not suffering!! It's easier for me not to really eat on DD's....I seem to get hungrier if I eat. The kefir shake is great in that it doesn't make me hungry and fills me up plus keeps me regular! Processed food such as Special K cracker chips and soups in a can and such stall me and make me hungrier after I eat them. So....I don't eat them on DD.

Oh this option sounds great! I am afraid to try it out though. I have to say, I stopped my UD at 9 last night and the thought that I could actually eat something like a decent dinner at 9 tonight is so tempting!! I'm just too scared that I will "mess up" particularly since my UD have consistently been well over my allotted calories. Just can't seem to get a handle on it no matter what I do!

I know...in my head I feel like the "next day" doesn't start until I wake up. But....I thought to myself it's been 24 hours so I'm doing it! This week has been great as far as weight loss goes. I'm doing 24, 24, 24, 24 instead of whatever I was doing before....eating normal for 12 hours and starving for 36....I was losing but not as much and the scale was bouncing. Plus I was moody and hungry. Now I don't get as hungry on my DD. I'll keep doing it for the next week and update this.

I meant I was rotating my UD's and DD's every 24 hours. The way I was doing it, my up days lasted about 12 hours, because I'd wake up and not eat until noon, and eat normal from noon till about midnight. Then DD would start at midnight, and carry on until I woke up the day after. That make sense? I was starving one night on DD....and I decided that it had been 24 hours since DD had started so I ate. Which ended my DD 24 hours after I had started it.
