what to do on vacation?
Hi Everyone - I'm new and will be starting JUDD'ing this Sunday. I'll be able to stick to the UD/DD routine for all of May but June 1st I will be taking a 3 day vacation! I'm wondering what does everyone do when on vacation? I was thinking maybe the week before my trip I alter my days and have two DD and three UP? Or doing an avearage of my UP/DD calories for the 3 days of my trip OR just enjoying my vaca and continuing when I get back? What do you guys think.
And what does MD mean? Thanks! |

MD means "medium day" and it is the average of your UD and DD calories. The correct way to insert a MD if you absolutely need to change rotation is DD/MD/UD. Think small-medium-large. BRB.

If you are truly able to respect your numbers and stick to UD/DD rotations during May, then I vote for just enjoying your 3 day vacation. Don't go wild, but don't restrict.
The reason I say this is that by then the SIRT1 gene will have had sufficient time to build up in your system and will carry you through. the number on your scale may go up a bit (maybe it won't!). But, if it does, it will only be water weight and will go back down most likely after 2 DD rotations. One more thing. It's been said here many times that if at all possible do not use MDs as they slow down weight loss. When you get to maintenance, you can use them more freely. That said, if a special occasion is coming and you need it to fall on an UD, then do use the MD. Reason being: it is NEVER a good idea to do 2 DDs in a row. It will defeat your purpose and stall your progress. You need to eat your UD calories to fuel you for DDs. Make sense? You can look forward to enjoying your vacation. YAY!! ![]()

thank you Yam-Yam! I think I'll do what you suggested and enjoy my vacation but dont overdue it. I'll get back in the swing of things upon my return.
And the MD, I guess those can be used for holidays and special occassions as you said. That probably would have been my next question, what everyone does when an DD falls on a holiday. thx again! |

Enjoy those three days without guilt! The times I have had to take off I lost anything gained within a week.

I took a four day vacation in the middle of my second month, then another at the end of month four. On both vacations I 'watched what I ate' to the extent that I (a) stopped eating when I was full, (b) did not eat anything I really did not want to eat, and (c) kept an eye on the fork on it's way to my mouth. Gained four pounds on #1 and three pounds on #2. Each time, it took two DDs to completely remove the weight and start me going down again.
JUDDD is not just a way to eat, it is a way to live. And a great recovery system when life happens.

I took a week vacation after being on JUDDD 2 1/2 months, ate what I wanted but didn't overeat, and even enjoyed a few treats. And came back home 1 pound less than I went. LOL I was much more active than I am at home, so I assume that made the difference. That and JUDDD magic.
So just enjoy those days, and IF there is any gain, get back in rotation and it will melt quickly away. Welcome to JUDDD! |

I'm the dissenting vote, but I'm also admittedly OCD. I went on a 4 day vacation about 3 weeks into JUDDD and stuck faithfully to my rotations and lost on that vacation. I also had a wonderful sense of accomplishment from staying under my calories on my vacation.
However: I sure wish I could learn to relax like most of these wise JUDDDers can! ![]() |

Another Option - make sure 2 of the days are UD - and have the middle day as a MD?
Otherwise - I would try to follow I Can Make You Thin rules 1) Eat when you're hungry (really hungry - not bored like I am today - thank goodness it's an UD!) 2) Eat what you want - yes, be healthy - but if you are truly hungry and what chocolate cake - enjoy it 3) Enjoy every mouthful (my biggest issue - I still do hand to mouth - Hamster Eating!) 4) Stop when you are full (because remember point 1) This is what I'm going to do on the cruise - ooops mean training conference - I'm going on in July!

We are vacationing in July and I fully plan to stay on plan, I was doing low carb last year when we were on vacation and had no problems staying on plan, JUDDD is even easier for me than low carb so it shouldn't be an issue. We stay in a condo and cook all our own food (we go out to eat once or twice) buying/cooking our own food will make it much easier. If we were going on a cruise I might cave!
