Thanks so much for the calculator!
I am small bone, wear a size 7.5 shoe and ring size is 4.5. The site said I was at my ideal weight and I should weigh between 108 - 118.8. I then did the body fat and it said I had 26.5 % body fat, then it told me I had 30.7 # of fat and 85.3 # of lean. When I have gone to Dr. Dukan it said I was at my ideal weight too. Soooooooooooo, I'm thinking maybe I am at my ideal weight and I should go on to the maintaining part ![]() DH helped me with the measuring and he did not laugh Then we talked some about my weight and he thinks I'm at a good number, so ![]() Just got out of the shower now and DH made me a whiskey ( Evan Williams) and 7-up - humm. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

p.s. The ideal body weight calculator puts a healthy weight for me at 160-176 for medium frame and 150-165 for small frame. But as I mentioned--REALLY big hands here so even though I have an 8" wrist, my fingers overlap significantly! I am neither small nor slender. Anything over 150 and I look heavy. I LOVE 145. 140 is a little too thin for my tastes but I am happy to land in between (if and when I can!). Here's hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow after a pretty much fasting DD... Living in Los Angeles, I am certainly NOT the smallest gal on the block, even for my height! ![]()

My goal weight is 145. I'm 5'6 and wear a size 8.5/9 shoe and at my smallest wore a size 4 ring. I've never weighed that little before, so not really sure. At my smallest I was 160 pounds and wore a size 12 juniors.
This is what the website said: Ideal weight range is 132 - 145.2 lbs. (60 - 66 kg.). You are overweight by 74.8 lbs. (34 kg.). You may wish to consult with your physician for medical help. ----This CRACKS ME UP!! |

![]() Anyway, I'm currently at 144, my goal is 143 and I'm in a size 6. This is the weight I've been most of my life (even though I managed to carry 75+ extra pounds on my frame all these years). I'm medium-framed, wear a size 10 shoe and a 34D bra. Even with my 80+ pound permament release, I'm still pretty well-endowed. ![]()

I'm starting to feel crazy skinny seeing where some of you would prefer your goal weights to be. I'm tall (5 ft 9) but extremely small boned. I weighed 140 at my highest and I definitely looked puffy in the face. I didn't feel as well, my feet ached all of the time, my fingers were constantly swollen.
We are all so different. I do believe muscle makes a huge difference. As women we all have vastly different Testosterone levels and that affects our natural muscle. I don't have a lot of natural muscle. In fact it is pathetic. I do resistance training just to keep myself from being totally flabby. I think this is partly why I weigh so little... less overall muscle. I had my testosterone tested a couple of years back and it was negligible. I feel my general weight (125-130) is good for my frame. I don't look bony. I am thin but lately a little too thin. That is because I have been making all this Judd food for my husband. Some of the meals I have eaten myself in the last month or so and it has taken me down 4 pounds without trying. People are now finally telling me I look too thin. I agree that a skinny face is not as flattering as we age. I'm worried about that. I want the SIRT1 gene but it's hard when the type of meals that turn it on can make thin people too skinny. Yam Yam, your body looks athletic, your face does not look puffy. I don't think your goal weight would make sense much below what you are already aiming for. Each one of us is so unique. |

I picked a weight initially that I felt good at as an adult, and that I felt was doable. After having my first, I was able to get back to 132 and stay there until I got pg again. I did not get back to it again until after my 3rd was born, and only stayed there a short time until life got really stressful and we moved in with my IL's for 8 mos (where I didn't have much say in what was fixed for meals).
When I got there, I realized I wasn't happy with how I looked (still full in the face, muffin top), and since it was relatively easy to get to 130, I decided to go for a bit more. 5 more pounds made a huge difference. My face is slim, yet not gaunt, muffin top is gone, and I dropped comfortably into the next size down. The calculator given gives me this: (at 5'4" I'm small framed) Ideal weight range is 120 - 132 lbs. (54.5 - 60 kg.). Contratulations! Your weight is ideal! It is the weight I was through my early-mid 20's.

As for me, I am with B_LOU. I want my waist below the thirties. I think I will look best when size 6 jeans fit comfortably. And I am not really concerned about the number on the scale - the numbers on my body are my only concern. It really is fascinating how many different ways the same height/weight can look. |

The goal weight I chose was based on the weight recommendation given for my height and age. It is just a number however because I intend to be at goal when my body fat percentage is where I want it to be. With a regular exercise regimen I am sure I will look and feel better at a higher weight with lower fat percentage than my recommended goal weight. We are all unique and have different reasons for the goals we would like to meet. Healthy is my primary goal, looking good is the second

I just picked 150lbs. Not sure, never got there for more than a minute!
I'm a medium/large build and 5'10"... I guess anywhere between 175 and 150 lbs will be my goal, I just want to be able to fit into my cute clothes again! If I weigh 190lbs and fit into my cute clothes, that number on the scale would be totally unimportant... Right now, I'm focusing on losing: inches and weight. Once I fit into my goal jeans and my goal dress then I'll call goal. It may be at 150lbs or it may be higher. I've no idea. I'm exercising more consistently now, so I'm fitting into stuff I wouldn't have fit into before at this weight.

Gosh - this thread is so good for morale!
I'm 5' 10" and large framed. I can hardly ever buy a ring that will fit me and can't get bangles over my huge hands. Regular size 7 feet though - which is odd. I'm at 176 after losing a stone (14 lbs) and feel so much better and that website says I am perfect. Sorry, but no way am I happy with how I look yet. I picked 147 as a target because that was the heavy side of the normal weight range for me all through my life unless I was post pregnancy. I look even better at around 135 but that may be too skinny after losing all that weight at my age. I'll judge when I get to my goal. My top acceptable weight would be 155 - which fits with that other calculation. At that I look pretty but still have the odd modest bulge. I've lost this same three stone before so I have a good idea of what each stage looks like. At 168 I start to feel healthy and fit into nice jeans. At 155 I'm looking ok - I get my waist back. At 147 I feel slim and happy. Lower than that and I am looking to get into UK size 10 (US size 8) and be model thin for my frame. So it's a huge range to choose from. I always struggle with my waist - that's where it all goes on with me. A thick waist is very unhealthy and also very ageing for looks. I think if you put it on thighs and hips you can carry a lot more weight and just be nice and curvy. It's interesting to know the weights of models and celebrities of your weight. Elle MacPherson is a tall woman and weighs low 130s. Nicole Kidman is very tall and is 120. She must very very small boned. I've been, at my lowest, 129 and then people started saying I was getting too thin. I felt amazing though. Every pound you carry around with you tires you out. I had phenomenal energy. I work out more now and it does make a difference. It only accounts for around 5 lbs on a woman though. You can allow a bit more leeway on the charts, but not a lot. You'd have to be a man who really body builds to add a stone or more of muscle. To shorten this ramble - weight does matter for me. It's when my scales broke and I stopped weighing that all this fat piled on. I need the disciplne of the numbers. Clothes are not a good guide. Dress sizes inflate every year and vary by two sizes from store to store. |

Okay, so I went to that wonderful calculator and found out that I'm actually small-framed. This is only using my middle finger and thumb. If I use my index finger I'm medium framed. This is what the calculator said for small-framed:
Ideal weight range is 156 - 171.6 lbs. (70.9 - 78 kg.). You are underweight. ![]() Medium-framed says this: Ideal weight range is 166 - 182.6 lbs. (75.5 - 83 kg.). You are underweight. My goal is healthy as well and my last check-up produced phenomenal test results. My doc was impressed. It's funny how every other calculator tells me the low end range I should weigh for my height is 128-130. Wow. Well, I'm not changing my goal, that's too funny. Thank you for the calculator. |

Wanted to add:
In addition to being large framed, and 5'10", I have European size 41.5 shoes (really, it's 42, aaaah!), I think thats about a 10 US size? It's an 8 in the UK... And I have hands that could easily be mistaken for man hands when I don't wear nailpolish and rings... They are like shovels, yuk! As for clothes, when I weighed 160 without exercising and I was more or less skinny fat, I fit into a size 12UK, sometimes a 10... So that's where I want to be now, but with the more toned look! I think with all the toning and exercise I now do, I'll be at my goal size before the weight goal. I think it's size 38-40 in Europe. I still have some clothes that are not so vanity sized, they are not high street clothes and far more unforgiveable! The other day I compared a pair of new 31 waist Levi's jeans to an old vintage pair 31 waist Levi's I had.... OMG!!!!! There's about 2 inches difference between them! No wonder I fit into the new ones! So, I'm going by my old old vintage pair of Levi's, because I think they are a real size still... Seriously, this whole vanity sizing is driving me insane!!!! |

I just did the calculator method using fingers around the wrist to gauge. They said I'm underweight. No surprise there but put my starting weight at 150. I've never been close to that weight and I know I would not be nearly as healthy there. I'm also surprised that they don't have different caregories for men and women. Men have more muscle so tend to weigh more.

Did you use your pointer finger and thumb?? If you are using your middle finger, you will get the wrong results. Weight is such an individual thing. And now, after following the JUDD WOE, I truly believe different plans can shape our bodies differently for me. JUDD is burning off my fat and I'm losing inches while keeping and building muscle. My body looks way better, waaaaaaaaay better right now than it did the last time I was at this weight. |

That's how I'm feeling. I went to the Army fat percentage calculator. Don't know how accurate something like that is because it's all based on weight, height and measurements. But, it was interesting that it came pretty close to what my fat % is on my body weight scale. Ever since I read the "loose skin" article someone posted and he talks about the importance of body composition and fat/muscle ratio, I've been thinking differently about things. I had done the math and figured I probably still need to lose 30 pounds of fat. If I did that and did not gain any muscle, I would have a goal of 163. But now I know I need to lose 15 pounds of fat and gain 15 pounds of muscle. The author of that article gave an example of a lady who lost over 100 pounds and weighed 120. She still looked very flabby and had a lot of loose skin. He said she needed to lose 20 pounds of fat but GAIN 20 pounds of muscle because the muscle definition underneath the skin is a big part of getting it tight and healthy. When she did just that through diet and exercise, she looked great still weighing 120!!! Body composition is fascinating to me.

). Have I ever told you to get Doctor Miriam Nelson's book, "Strong Women Stay Young?" It's all about a simple strength training program anyone can do in her own home. And, it's soooo motivating!!!She tells the story of a 93 year old woman who never exercised in her life. Then she started to do mild resistance training for 20 minutes 2 times per week. Before you know it, she's outside shoveling a huge dump truck full of soil into her back yard all by herself. Anyway, Nelson gives you 8 exercises to do 2 times per week at about 20 minutes to complete the 8 and you will be amazed at how quickly your muscles start toning and responding. When I bought that book a few years ago, I went ahead and bought one for every woman in my life! My BFF, my sisters, DSIL.... |

I'm really surprised about this: I don't see myself as "large boned", whatever that is, but when I did the test with pointer and thumb, they are almost an inch apart!!
At my goal weight, 140, people called me "long and lean". I am 5'7.5" and 65, shoe size 9-9.5. I am small busted and evenly proportioned. I chose that weight because my size 8s and 10s all fit nicely, and I didn't look scrawny-I didn't think. When I lost a couple more pounds, people started saying I was too thin. First time in my life that I heard that and I loved it!! In high school at this same height I weighed 134-138 and thought I was overweight...I would be happy with 150, though, and I agree that you can weight more when you are toned, which I was last time I weighed 140-I even had a mini 6-pack! I am not exercising now-many reasons, but I like the quote that goes something like "dieting makes you look good in clothes; exercise makes you look good naked" ![]()
