8 Day Week!
Trying very hard to stick to the UD-DD pattern while having various things to do, I've come up with the 8 Day Week (not every week!).
Good or bad idea? Monday - DD (starts 6pm on Sunday) Tuesday - UD Wednesday - DD FirstThursday - UD between 8am & 3pm SecondThursday - DD between 3pm & 6pm Friday Friday (starts at 6pm) - UD between 6pm and 12pm Saturday (starts midnight) - DD between 12am & 9pm Sunday - UD starting 9pm Saturday until 6pm Sunday, when DD for next week starts What do you all think? The idea is to squeeze in a down day to maintain the rotation, keep all my plans and not have any MDs. |

Honestly, I would really try and stick with a normal 7 day week at least for the first two to eight weeks of doing JUDDD. Once past this, you could try it out occasionally.
I fitted in a MD in my second week, and I found it stalled me and didn't actually add anything to my day or my weightloss. My opinion regarding any diet/WOE or lifestyle is that if you don't do it properly like it was written, how can you know it is working the way it is supposed to? I am a great procrastinator and I love tweaking programs, but what I've learnt in all these years yo-yoing up and down the scales and through my wardrobe is that following a plan properly at least until it becomes a habit is a great recipe for success. I think life will always have a way of throwing you off course, but why sabotage yourself on the way to success? I don't feel comfortable on my DDs socialising with friends, but I do it anyway (as it's a part of my life, and why stop because I'm on a DD?), and just have a green tea or a glass of water or sometimes a diet soda. It's the company that's important, not what I eat. However I find it difficult to deal with peoples' questions and comments too! I have now the same answer for everyone: 'I think I am too fat. This is my opinion, and I don't feel happy the way I am. Therefore I am working on improving myself and that situation. I feel happier doing this and I don't feel bad when you eat in front of me, therefore you should definitely not feel bad either. Thanks for your concern and interest, can we now change the subject?' This usually works, and I feel remotivated to continue on my journey! I can't say whether you should or shouldn't do this, it's up to you, it depends on how you deal with situations and how your body is reacting to JUDDD and how fast you are losing and wanting to lose... All I did was give you my opinion, I hope it is of some use to you! Good luck and I hope life calms down for you and that you enjoy your upcoming busy time! xx

Mimosa, thanks for this. I've only been JUDDDing for a week and am headed into two weeks of multi-city traveling I thought about the MD tweaking thing for certain events, and I think it's just too complicated for me at this early point, so I'll stick to the schedule and just say, "No thanks, I'm full." Which is true. Full of excitement, full of the thrill of calling my own shots, of comfortable pants, of increased confidence, etc. Happy.

Hi Joy-
Ditto-stick to the 7-day rotation. I have to pretty much write off the entire month of April because I wanted to have my DD on Monday, Wednesday & Friday and then do a MD on Saturday. Did not work for me. I'm up 4lbs. Now am sticking to the UD/DD rotation. Best of luck to you!Anna |

Sounds super complicated to me. JUDDD is really easy and very effective, as long as you stick to the basic rules. In my opinion, that includes keeping as close to the normal rotation as possible.

I thought I'd find it hard to have different days for DDs every week, but now I don't even think about it. Once you're in the swing of it, everything tends to become much easier. Of course it depends what your schedule is like and if it really is impossible to stick to the advised rotation then it's worth a try - apart from the 1st 2 weeks which must be followed exactly as stated in the book to get the skinny gene kickstarted.

My only comment is that 2 DD's in a row is really not recommended. You need the day of extra cals after a dd to signal your body to end the stress response. Another DD would continue that response for longer than is needed, or healthy.
Another vote to simply continue the rotation as best as you can--even if that means a DD of 700 calories rather than 500. |

Have you looked into MUDDDing? Here is the link and this may work better for you than having an 8 day week and 2 DDs in a row.

That MUDDing is actually a much better idea than mine, thanks for putting me on to it. I'm going to use that as an adjustment.
Basically, what I've decided to do is: From 5pm this evening - start up day (this will effectively mean until 12pm this evening) Saturday - repeat (DD breakfast & lunch, up for evening meal) Sunday - normal up day Monday - normal down day etc. That's far more doable and flexible, I think. Since I'll only want to make adjustments a couple of times a week some weeks, it works out very well indeed. Now that I've worked this out, I don't think I'll be using any DD calories at all today. I've just had herbal tea so far, and unless I eat an apple, I see no reason why I shouldn't just fast until 5pm. |

I have used this and Intermittent Fasting a couple of times and found it very easy. You may not lose as quickly but you feel in charge and that you are still moving forward.

Yeah, that's true. I guess as in all things in life, it's all compromise. From my perspective (and I don't know whether everyone else is like this), if I try to do all or nothing, sooner or later (and usually sooner) nothing wins. It's good for me to find a way to get some balance. I generally want to stick to the JUDDD plan specifically and without derivation, but I know well that if I have to choose and start not having any fasting time at all, fasting time will go out the window.
Even if there are some DDs where I'm not getting 36 hours, I'm happy to be maintaining the habit of fasting, and continuing the discipline. I firmly believe that that's going to be the trick rather than being too rigid. Last week I lost 4lbs, which is an unheard of amount for me in one week, and frankly, it's not something I want to continue doing. That's too much for me. I'm happy to take a more leisurely stroll towards this goal. |
