Katie--how frustrating! I hope you can continue to take it--it seemed like it was working so well for you. I wondered if your free weekend was a result of something at the wedding too. But certainly understand not wanting to test it.

I got some NOW Resveratrol yesterday.
Red Wine Extract alcohol free 200 mg
Polygonum cuspidatum extract (root) 200mg
(50% natural trans-resveratrol 100mg)
Green tea extract 200mg
Grape Seed Extract 100mg

I took 2 with breakfast (had a couple of sausage patties). It's a DD but, planning a maintenance dd of 700-800 calories.

Will keep an eye out for headaches, since red wine does sometimes give me one.

I got to thinking. I think it came back up yesterday and today because of heartburn. I get bouts of it really bad sometimes and its been really bad. Sometimes I get so much acid built up, I end up throwing up. I was cutting the grass and thinking OMG I have heartburn.......and it clicked!! I dont think its the resveratrol after all.......its just me! I have had heartburn so bad since the other day I stopped at Wendy's and tried that new spicy chicken with gacomolie (sp??). I love spicy foods.......they just dont love me!!!

Gonna have a glass of milk tonight before bed with my heartburn pill and see if its better in the am!

Katie, that sounds awful. Hope the milk and meds do the trick.

I wasn't at all hungry between bfast and lunch, even though I only had 1 sausage patty for breakfast. But I was really busy too, so didn't have time to think about it either.

I thought I'd give this a try to help me on the DDs, which haven't really gotten easier, although it's the UDs that do me in!! as in eating too much, and drinking wine...

I looked in Walgreen's yesterday but didn't see it. Where are you all getting it?
TIA

Well it was the heartburn. The resvertrol has stayed down 2 days now! I am so happy with that, because it seems to be working for me!

for those of you taking the Garden of Life RAW Resveritol 350 mg...how are you taking it? 1 per day? 2 per day? In the AM or PM or both? with or without food?

Sorry I cant help you there, I take the cheap walmart stuff. Wanted to see what it did before I spent more on it!

Ok heres my update on my whole experiment. Last week, I did not take it at all. I was on vacation, so my routine was kinda off kilter a bit. When I realized I didnt take it in the beginning of the week. I paid close attention to what my body did, and mentally made note not to take it til friday again. Just to see what would happen. So 5 days of no resveratrol at all!

The week I didnt take it, was a bad week. I was hungry. My DD calories were way over, my UD calories were way over. The scale stayed at 175 didnt budge.

Started taking it friday night again. Saturday was a DD and I came in at 380 calories. Sunday was an UD, I stayed with in my calories with no problem. Today was a DD I wasnt hungry and didnt eat til about 2 hours ago and it was only 350 calories. My scale as of this am was 170!!!!

There is something to this stuff! I am quite happy with the cheapy bottle from walmart! Its making my scale quite happy!!!

Interesting.

I had to stop taking it for a bit too. I was reacting to a new supp the naturo had me start for intestinal healing, and had to cut out any new stuff I'd started to make sure it actually WAS that, and not something else (it was). So I need to get back on it, but want to wait until I give the replacement supplement a few days to make sure I tolerate it ok.

From what I could tell the few days I was taking it, it did seem to curb my hunger on DD's.

I take this and love it! 1 in the morn after breakfast. I really think it has everything I need in it, not just the resvertral. So, IMO, it is well worth the extra I pay because it takes the place of a multi vitamin as well.

Thanks everyone. I'm on my 3rd day of using it.......today is a DD. I know I read that many of you only take it on DD, and I think that's probably what I'll at least try, but I wanted to "build up the level of it in my blood???" so I took it yesterday (UD) as well. I didn't go over my calories, but I also didn't have any trouble eating either!

I have used it for a week - I don't really see any difference. Weight loss was not as good this week as the previous two weeks. I am still hungry on DD's, but UP's I feel stuffed all the time. I will take the full bottle and see what I think then.

With a bit of trepidation (hoping for no side effects!) I took my first tran-resveratrol pill just now, after eating. I went ahead and popped the whole capsule, all 100 mg.

I may have missed this talked about earlier, but for those who've taken it and had appetite suppression, did this occur during the first day or did it build up over time with taking the pills? Thanks.

I felt like it was immediate. I started out taking them only on DD's but my problem is really UD's so I took one this morning (UD here) and I am not hungry but I had a big breakfast of scrambled eggs with toast. I have been doing coffee with HWC on DD's with no problems taking the resveratrol.

Thank you for the quick reply, Adi. I took one about 6 hours ago and haven't eaten anything since. I have felt some hunger but it hasn't been urgent (as in feeling sicky/shaky) or any true hunger. In fact, I feel really good.

I also got some cleaning/organizing done that I've been putting off forever (well, at least I got a start on it - baby steps!) and felt plenty of energy. But maybe I was just due to get my butt in gear since it's been weighing on my mind to do this job, and mentally I have been psyching myself up to get started for a while.

At any rate, no ill effects from the resveratrol and that's a relief. I'll try it again next DD and see if it goes as well as this one is so far. That's a good idea to take it on UD too if you need it more then, btw.

I was taking resveratrol last year, but not remembering if it did me any good because I was taking other supps along with it. I used up the supply and didn't bother ordering again, but may revisit it once more.

Both Drs. Kruse and Johnson highly recommend it, and if I do start it again, I will stop all my other supps so I can judge if it indeed works.

I'm looking into the trans-resveratrol!

I wish my Walmart had carried that brand, or I would have tried that first. But all they had was "red wine complex", which doesn't list the % of resveratrol, and from what I've read, if it doesn't list the amount, it probably doesn't have very much in it. The kind you have from Walmart lists the % of resv. and it sounds like a quality brand.

I was "surfing" the web yesterday, so I'm not really sure how I came across an article from some Men's magazine about how if a man only takes one supplement it should be resveratrol. With all the talk about Estrogen I guess I was just thinking it was a "woman" thing.

Since my DH is attempting JUDDD as well (today is a DD for both of us) I went a head and gave him one this AM. Since he's asleep in the chair right now, I can't say that it's given him any more energy

I have felt great all day. I did have coffee w 1/2 & 1/2 in it this morning, but didn't eat until about 2:00. Then I had a Gluc. pudding made with the 35 calorie Almond milk........it was yummy, and held me until dinner tonight (grilled salmon)

Thanks, Tanya.

To follow up on last night: I was pretty hungry by dinner time, especially with standing over that stir-fry I was cooking, lol. So my calories for the day ended up in the range of 900 - 1000 (which was what I'd planned for in the first place).

I wonder if had I taken another dose of resv. in the mid to late afternoon, if that would have kept the appetite suppression "topped up"? I may try that on my DD tomorrow.

I'm only going to take resv. on DD for now. How is everyone else doing?

I haven't tried to reintroduce it. Every day I took it, I ended up with a raging headache. I haven't had any since I discontinued it. I wonder, though, if the trans-res would have the same effect. I'd rather not spend the money for it, if I'm just going to have to toss it in the end.

DD here and I forgot to take my resveratrol. I ate oat bran hot cereal with 1 T of oat fiber and 1/2 t gluc for breakfast and was not hungry all day. Just finished dinner. So maybe it doesn't do anything for me or maybe had residual effects. Will try to remember to take it in the monring.

I found this info online about headache and resv, apparently from someone who works in a resv. company: It induces headache among those who are anemic. Fertile women have menstrual migraines, similar condition. Resveratrol is a copper-chelating molecule and it can drop the hemoglobin level a bit, inducing anemia. It is not intended for child-bearing females or growing children (yes, it will give many of them a headache). It should be consumed in relatively low dose in supplements, no more than 350 mg. If headaches, Achilles heel tendonitis, anxiety reactions, stiff hands, skin rash, flu-like symptoms occur, you may be anemic and should stop taking resveratrol. Bill Sardi, Resveratrol Partners LLC, dba LONGEVINEX

Lyle Henry, of a migraine website said this instead: Headache is a reported side effect of taking resveratrol. These headaches can start within a day or two of first taking resveratrol and can continue for an extended length of time after stopping resveratrol. This is true even for those who do not get migraines.

The reason why resveratrol triggers migraines is that it promotes vasodilation by enhancing the production of a naturally occurring substance in the body called nitric oxide.

Sophie, that's really interesting. Thank you. I just looked at my blood work from the end of February and my CBC showed everything in the normal range. That doesn't mean it's the same now though. And I have very little red meat anymore, but I do take a multi with 100% rec. iron, and I eat lots of greens.

YW, Dawn.

Well guys, I took resv. again yesterday on my DD and had no appetite suppression. Now I have to take into consideration that I became pre-Tom yesterday and with it came the big appetite, particularly at day's end.

I have had no side effects the 2 x I took it, at least.

Here's what I really wanted to say about it in this post, lol... Last night I opened a capsule and made a face mask out of some of the contents. The capsules were very tightly packed - quite a bit of powder in there. Anyway, I just applied it with fingers to my face, which was still damp from being washed.

The resv. became a rich brown when mixed with water. The shocker was the SMELL! It was like rubbing the contents of an ash tray on my face, lol. Awful. It rinses off quite easily.

I only used about 1/3 of the capsule, so today I thought I'd try it again, so I mixed it with a bit of red wine and applied it to my dry face. Left it on probably 15 min, rinsed, then applied a drop of my evoo, vco mix.

So my face is smooth and bright and all, but I'm working on fading discoloration from acne. It needs heavy duty power. And I have one more way I want to try the mask tonight.

I'm going to mix resveratrol powder, a dash of red wine and some turmeric. I've used turmeric mixed with water as masks in the past and it does a great job of calming inflammation and fading spots. It's just sooo messy to use (gets on everything and permanently stains) that I always give up on using it after a while. It also stains your face bright yellow but this will come off with a good cleanser and multiple washings. This time I will stick with it.

Since I've got most of my breakouts under control finally, I want to have the clearest glowing skin I can now.

I know the turmeric has a good effect, and taking it internally does too, I just don't know if the resv. applied topically will do much for me. If nothing else, this is a way to use some of it up since I may not be taking it much in the future.
