Dawn, I am beyond impressed. I have watched your journey and your steady loss. To lose that amount of weight in that time period is truly amazing. You are proof that JUDDD works and that people can stick to it for long periods of time. I am thrilled for you.

Can you share some of your tips for those following in your path? Did you follow the same calories for up and down days throughout so far or did you change it. I thought I read that you adjusted, but can't remember.

Did you hit plateaus along the way? Did you eat certain kinds of foods and hold back on others? I would love to lose at the rate you have been for a sustained period of time, so any tips you have would be appreciated.

Thanks for all your advice and support on this board. You are the best!

Congratulations!!

To answer your questions:
I changed my calories a couple of times when I slowed down. The first two times, I modified my calories downward, though only by about 100 calories or so each time. The next time I slowed down, I went to the calculator and realized I was actually a little bit below where I was supposed to be, so I increased my calories back to what the calculator gave me, and have been losing again.

I didn't really hit "plateaus" as such. I had "slow-downs" and I'm admittedly not the most patient person in the world, so that's why I adjusted my calories 3 times in 6 months. I ended up right back at what the calculator was telling me, though for my current weight, not my starting weight, so I would recommend if you slow down, just check the calculator and try it at the numbers you're currently given.

I have not limited any types of foods. For me, this is key. If I had to deprive myself of anything, I probably would have quit by now. I try to get plenty of fresh vegetables, and I don't eat a lot of sweets just because that's not what I crave. I do drink plenty (probably too much) wine, have good quality chocolate around twice a week, and eat out a LOT. I do eat bread and pasta, tortillas, all the things I avoided on Atkins. The only thing I actively avoid is soy, and that's because of my thyroid, not because of JUDDD.

I'm leaning more toward quality foods, as a result of watching my calories I think. I don't want to "waste" them on stuff I don't truly enjoy, even on my UDs. One of my favorite fast food places used to be Jack In The Box. I realized I haven't been there in 6 months. There's nothing on the menu worth my precious calories. Now I go to Carl's Jr. and have a turkey burger instead, for half the calories, and as much or more flavor. I go out for buffalo wings, and steak, and fried chicken. Nothing's off limits as long as I plan for it, and adjust my calories for the rest of the day to accommodate it.

The most important thing I've done, I truly believe, is be consistent. I track everything. I don't have UUADs. I've only had one MD, and only when it was truly necessary. I respect my calories and never go over. I also try to keep close to them, without going to far under, especially now that I have increased them back to where they should have been. Everything I eat goes into ************ BEFORE it goes into my mouth.

My first six weeks was on Atkins and I did "okay," but my losses have been steadier and much more enjoyable the last 4 1/2 months with JUDDD.

If this helps anyone with their journey, I sure feel happy to share. You all have shared so much with me, and I'm nowhere near done, but I'm sure enjoying the process--even when I get frustrated and it feels hopeless. I know that sounds weird, but I'm learning so much about myself, that even the "bad" parts are enjoyable--in hindsight! I had a rare bounce this morning, after hitting 56 pounds yesterday, and I'm not even a little bit upset by it.

Today's a DD and I'm sipping my coffee, watching the rain come down outside my office, and thinking . . . life is really, really good. Of course some of that is because my 9th wedding anniversary is tomorrow and I'm madly in love with my husband!

Dawn: First, Happy Anniversary a day in advance!!! I love hearing "romance". Just love it. Here's to love!! (raising my glass of ice water)

Now to your awesomeness! Wooooo-Hooooooo!!!! You definitely are an inspiration and we all just love you so much! You know how to rock JUDD and how to inspire all of us in the midst of your success.

One last thing: Are you taking Biotin?? Start with 5000 to 10,000 mcg (note: it's mcg NOT mg!) per day. It will stop the hair loss.

Thanks for taking the time to write all that out. The info is worth its weight in gold. It is wonderful to hear that you feel life is really really good and that you are fortunate enough to have that one grand love in your life. Happy anniversary to you both.

I feel more on confident now as I do things similar to you. I am consistent and track everything on ************. I haven't broken my rotation in 3 months. I do go to Carl Jrs even, but I eat the low carb burger. Yum!! I also drink my fair share of wine, eat dark chocolate, and eat out a lot! I am hoping to follow your path!!

Again, thanks. The info is so great for me. Continued success to you!!

Thanks Yam-Yam. I hadn't heard about Biotin and you can be sure I'm picking some up ASAP! Since my diagnosis, it seems like all I'm doing is popping pills! I went from one medication and no supplements to the following:

0400 Levothyroxine
0600 Atenolol
0800 2 X Calcium/D3, 2 X Resveratrol
1300 Multivitamin
1930 Magnesium

Now I'll be adding Biotin. Sheesh! Whatever it takes, right?

My pleasure, Beverly. As Cindy (Kissa) says, "Relax, rotate, rejoice!" I just have to work more on the relax part.

Dawn, you are my hero! Thanks for inspiring us all and rocking JUDDD!

Also, I second Biotin. I used to take it faithfully and could tell a real difference in my hair loss. Well that and finally learning to take my synthroid every single day helped!

Dawn: You are gonna love the biotin. The capsules are easy to swallow and water soluble. You will notice the difference after a few weeks of taking it daily. Also, watch your fingernails become stronger, pinker with white, white tips. You already have beautiful skin. Biotin will help keep your skin tight and radiant.
