sticking a toe in....

Hi there! I felt it was a good time to introduce myself. I have just come across this method and am very excited! I am no stranger to intermittent fasting and always feel incredible doing it. I never did it for weight loss though, so this feels a bit foreign. I am currently doing HCG and have my calories around 750 for the day. I feel excellent and have so much energy, but am right now re-losing weight I ditched two years ago. So while this is great, I'm looking for something long term. Even when I lose the weight I gained, I have another 30 or so to go before I'm at my goal-or the weight I was before I had kids.

I'm reading through all your threads and getting inspired but have this nagging doubt that I'll be the ONE person that it doesn't work for. Crazy, I know, but that's just sort of been my shtick. I've done so much and nothing has worked long term. BUT I'm trying to shove that aside and just embrace the fact that I know I'll FEEL good on it, and that's more important than my goal. Of course the goal is something to work towards, but if every day is full of health I don't mind meandering to it rather than sprinting.

I am also bringing my husband along for the ride. He's pretty hardcore paleo, so definitely open to this. We first found the idea of IF maybe ten years ago through paleo eating. He has a lot of health stuff going on that the doctors can't figure out, but most of it seems to be rooted in inflammation. This seems like it could be the key for him as well. He doesn't have weight to lose, but he does have inflammation that we'd like to kiss goodbye!

Anyway, that's the deal! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and I look forward to having something to offer and even better, something to report!

Welcome! I'm on my first DD coming off HCG myself! I think it will be great to lose a few more and then maintain with this program! I'm sort of testing the JUDDD waters for a couple of weeks before my vacation in May. Once back from vacay, plan to get on it for good if it works for me!

circus!

Don't worry, most of us start out suspecting we will be the one exception. Then take a few weeks to actually learn to trust the magic. Hopefully this will be a successful and healthy WOE for you and DH!

Natasha, I am looking forward to hearing the splash when you dive in after vacation!

Welcome!

Just wanted to mention, I had inflammation that didn't respond to switching to paleo, or to losing 25 pounds. Found out in Feb I have several food allergies. 1 month with those foods eliminated from my diet and my c-reactive protein is now as low as you can get it. I see a naturopath, and had a blood test done with the Elisa protocol for testing food allergies.

Just something to keep in mind.

Thank you mykidsteacher. We've been down that road. We both have celiac disease and have been using natural medicine for about 15 years, in fact...that is what I do for a living. We know what his issue is, it's just that there's no known treatment at this point, just pain management which hasn't worked out. He has a spectacularly brilliant pain specialist but even he hasn't been able to put a dent in it. Nor has the neurologist, rheumatologist or anyone for that matter. I can get him somewhat comfortable, but only so long as he's downing enough supplements to bankrupt us. And they're not healing anything, just managing pain....and not all that well, either.

I'm hoping this can shed some new light on things for us! We've regarded food as medicine for quite some time and borne witness to it. A lot of healing has happened, but this is a stone that has been left unturned.

I do hope to have successes to report!

I felt like you did....that nothing worked as well for me as it did for everyone else. I was always a sloooowwww loser, even on hCG. But JUDDD has not only lived up to its promise for me, it's exceeded my expectations! I never dreamed I'd lose more weight than I planned on, without really trying. I just do my plan and it works. I hope you'll give it a try, and don't let any scale bounces discourage you. It might take some time for the SIRT1 genes to kick in and do their thing.

I'm pretty sure you're the one that started me on this journey. I read your journal over at HTA and something clicked. I had just done a clinical grand rounds on HCG and the info on JUDDD matched up almost exactly and made all the sense in the world to me. So while I'm a stranger to you, THANK YOU! That statement that you fear you will be the ONE person it doesn't work for is actually a common fear many of us have had before starting. We just want SO badly to find the path that is actually going to work. We have tried so many things, had so many hopes that have been squashed like and insect, and we fear that this too shall be a failure. I know. I felt that way. I STILL have moments of feeling that way only now they have changed to... I wonder if this is going to STOP working for me.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I doubt that your body is that unique from the others doing JUDDD. You aren't going to be the one person it doesn't work for. JUDDD is very simple by design, but if you follow your rotations and follow the calories that are specific to you, it will work for you too. In one month you are going to be writing about how happy you are!!

your post means a lot as in looking at your profile there it seems we have a lot in common! Between LC, HCG, JUDDD and being gluten free that is.

This fear is one I'm more than willing to put behind me, so thanks for the words of encouragement! I am sure we all know how frustrating it is to try so MUCH and not have success. I've looked at EVERYTHING and there's no great explanation for why my body won't release the weight. Nothing allergy wise (beyond gluten and I've been off that for over a decade, with slips here and there) nothing endocrine wise that's been seen, nothing hormonal etc. etc. etc.

I am an ex-performer and am very used to having low body fat and being quite fit. This just feels so foreign to me. My weight went nuts when I got pregnant for the first time-which is when the celiac flared. I did lose it on LC/primal but the minute I ate starch again it came right back. HCG has been amazing and the weight DID come off....but then I got pregnant again and even eating LC/GF I ballooned once more.

So yes, I'm hoping I'm not anything special in this regard and that the protocol will just work! I'm looking forward to jumping in in two weeks!

Thank you all! I'm SO excited I feel like I'm vibrating.

I can't wait to start. I just hope I feel as good on JUDDD as I do on hcg.

My husband is thrilled because this means a week from Tuesday we can go to our favorite restaurant instead of waiting several more weeks. They have THE best gluten free menu and we get to feast on fresh, hot rolls with herbed butter, fried calamari, risotta, salmon piccata over corn pasta with a lemon caper butter, creme brulee....

I'm dying here! And on JUDDD we can do it GUILT FREE!

It's called Burton's Grill. It's amazing.

I live in a place where the gluten awareness is high. It's one of many restaurants that have really fabulous gf food that isn't of the "you can have the burger without the bun" ilk. We also have a dedicated gluten free/dairy free/soy free/nut free bakery that is out of this world.

I feel very blessed. My whole family has celiac disease-my husband, my kids and of course, me! It makes it so much easier with places like this around-that wasn't the case 10 or even 5 years ago.

There's another restaurant that does grass fed beef burgers on gluten free buns with certified gluten free fries. YUM!

/food rant over.

Circus have you tried any of the anti inflammatory herbs such as turmeric or devils claw? I don't know what your DH issues are but Emu oil is an incredible antiimflamatory and it is transdermal so it goes through the skin directly to the muscles. So if you add any antiimflamatory essential oils to it they will be carried along to the muscles as well. I practice aromatherapy, happy to help.

You are so sweet! Yes, we've done herbs, western and eastern. Acupuncture, chiropractic, CST, myofascial release....the list feels endless! Shots, patches, IV's...oy.

WE haven't tried EVERYTHING of course, but some days it feels like it!

He hasn't done emu oil. It's been brought up a few times over the years though. We've done some EO's but not with great success. But that's not my area and my knowledge is rudimentary. So I can't in all honesty say we "did" them.

I'm always happy to hear about possibilities though! Thank you!
