Were you suprised by how you looked when you saw a picture of yourself?

Anyone feel like you looked "okay" until you saw a picture of yourself?

My photo wake up call was of me on the beach wearing a bathingsuit that I loved because I thought I looked pretty darn good....this was when I was at 180 at 5'3". I will never look like I did in that picture again!

One of my close friends took a pic of me asleep in the back seat on the way to Vegas. I really was sooo defeated when I saw it. I know car photos are the worst because of the way we have to sit, but it was sort of a game changer for me. That was around 40 lbs ago, but it was also when I realized I didn't want to ever weigh that much ever again and I haven't!

OMG yes!!! Just going through this today! I went to my sisters wedding this weekend and finally got to see a few of the pictures others took..........I cried!!! I cried and cried and cried!!!!! I always knew I was bigger. But I never realized how big I must of been. Jan 1st I went back to atkins at 195-198. I dropped down to 176 and felt great. Switched over to JUDDD after a few days binge, started it at 184. Today I am bouncing from 173-177. I was like oh yeah... going to the wedding lost like 20-25lbs...run almost a mile a day...legs have muscles.....sweet.....I felt great, thought I looked great but...then the pictures..........omgggg. Now I just feel like crap again......what a stupid circle this gets to be.............

I do not have any pictures of me that I like. I am not photogenic at all and that is why I have a picture of my cat as my avatar - he is very photogenic

I knew I was gaining weight and that I felt terrible and needed to do something about it, but somehow it just wasn't THAT BIG of an issue yet...

because I am tall and can carry the weight... because I wore baggy, dark, simple clothes that hid the weight (somewhat).... because DH, my Mom and others never noticed I was bigger ... so on and so forth.

But when I went to visit a friend in TX last June, and saw the pictures from that trip, that was my wake-up call. I could no longer deny I was the biggest I'd ever been!!

And soon after there came my first trip to LCF and thankfully, the JUDDD forum by Fall. And now there are some bad pics of me, yes, but not because of weight.

Oh, yeah! I'd lost 50 pounds on Atkins, gained a few back, but felt like I looked "normal". This photo was taken when our band backed Nashville Star Melissa Lawson for her "hometown concert" a few years ago. Those are my DDs and my DH with us. I weighed about 180 or so.

Here's another onstage one where I thought I looked good, but was disappointed to see those fat thighs in the photo.

I generally have avoided the camera for years, so I don't really have a lot of photos like this.

Laurie, I would love to look like you in the second photo!
(And once upon a time I might have, around a size 14-16)
My stomach sticks way out and my thighs are kinda lumpy....I think you looked strong & lovely.

Thanks, Jenny. I was thrilled to be down that far, but I had quite a ways to go. Thanks to JUDDD, I'm about 40 pounds below that and don't mind photos so much. You'll get there, too!

Well, in reverse, I guess.

My brother got married 1.5 years ago, and in preperation for being a bridesmaid (I was going to be The Single Bridesmaid, and I couldn't bear to be The Fat Single Bridesmaid) I lost loads of weight. I didn't feel that I had changed that much because I always think I look the same, regardless of what I weigh. I just don't really see any difference between Fat Me and Slim Me.

I regained half the weight again, and the other day I saw a photo of myself at the wedding. Now I see the difference and I'm furious with myself that I let myself put so much of the weight that I worked so hard to lose back on.

It's all having a new boyfriend that did it as well - I was maintaining fine until then! But that means that I'm doing lots of nice things now that I wouldn't have been doing otherwise and I can't wear all my favourite clothes! I feel like I've cheated myself out of some of the fun I should be having right now. I'm completely determined to make the changes to get back to where I was.

Yes! Almost every picture, I'm very critical of myself. On a day I was feeling pretty good about my looks a few weeks ago a picture was taken of me while driving a go-cart, oh the horror when I saw the bulge of extra skin/fat I had hanging out of my mid section

I almost never like pictures of myself, even when I was very thin. I see all the flaws that nobody else pays any attention to. I think it's about time to take a full body shot though, and I'm really worried that the photograph will show much worse than what I "think" I look like!

The sad and scary thing is to me that's what my husband, friends, and family see, even though they love me. I honestly wonder how they could love me. Is that not truly sad? Yet, I love my friends and family who have weight problems and never think anything less of them.

It's torture what we do to ourselves and the real monster is the media.

Media is the monster and I refuse to allow it to control how I am feeling about my new found WLP. I can get to goal, but in the mean time, I am not buying what they are selling!

So true!!! We're all supposed to be running around looking like 20 year old stick thin models! Also, make sure you have no wrinkles, shiney non-gray hair, sparkly white teeth, and a designer wardrobe! I can see not wanting to get old, but people are overdoing it, trying to run away from it, like collagen and botox injections will help you live forever or something. I personally will never understand the "need" for fake boobs, botox, waxing everything on the body, and fake 2 inch long fingernails with nice sparkly designs (I'd stab myself in the eye!). I think the more natural people look the better, groomed nicely for sure, but don't go wacko.
