Calories in apples?
How do you count the calories in an apple?
When I look at My Fitness Pal, I get all types of different amounts... some for "apple" in general, some for specific types of apples... and then I was trying to figure out how it would be different if I ate the skin or peeled it off and tossed it... and do some of the estimates for apple calories include every bit of the skin, core, seeds in addition to the "meaty" part of the apple? I was looking at the package of apples I bought, and it said 120 calories in one large apple... but it was a bag of small apples... And again, is that including all of the core and peel, which if not eaten, cuts the calories a bit?And are calories different in different types of apples? I generally go for golden delicious, gala, cameo, and macintosh. |

I core, cut up, and weigh what is left. EVERYONE underestimates apples (I learned this doing hcg years ago) they are much larger than you think and it can be four times the calories you were going to enter. Plus those calories are almost all sugar which affects the insulin damaged/resistant dramatically.

Thanks for the input everyone! Now... are all type of apple created equal calorie-wise? 4 oz of golden delicious = 4 oz of gala = 4 oz of macintosh = 4 oz of cameo? |
