JUDDD and cholesterol
My mum has elevated cholesterol, and due to a liver problem, she isn't keen on statins (she did start taking one, she had to stop because it was damaging her liver).
Has anyone found that this WOE has had a good impact on their cholesterol levels? I see there's all kinds of conflicting information on the web so I can't really decide whether it's good or not, so some personal experience from trustworthy people would be greatly appreciated! |

Here's a great article that lays out the health benefits of IF (and Alternate Day Feeding):

would also love to know how Juddd effects cholestrol and trig. HCG drastically improved my trig and hdl and ldl. but I also lost 60 lbs.... My lipid panel is completely normal now. I am hoping when I start JUDDD it will continue that way. Never took chol meds.

DH had his checked--he had gone off cholesterol meds for two months to see if this WOE would help--it didn't.
He had to go back on the meds. It helped his blood pressure greatly, but not the cholesterol. That doesn't mean that it won't help your mom, though. Maybe DH just has extra-sucky genes. |

I had mine checked on JUDDD by my doctor, and everything was great, but I'd never had it checked before (other than an overall cholesterol finger-stick test they do at those health fairs) so I don't have anything to compare it to. Sorry, that's not much help. Hoping someone has some positive before/after.

I'm hoping that JUDDD will help with this and am trying to get my hubby to jump on the bandwagon, too. He has incredibly high cholestorol which is mostly caused by genes (we think, since his mother laughed at his numbers and she eats really healthy). He refuses to remember to take his meds so I'm trying to find other things for him to do. I've ordered some DE as well hoping that the combo will help a little.
Will keep you posted on if it helps him (once he bends to my will). |

I've been JUDD for only three weeks, however immediately before I started I had my bloodwork done so that I would be able to see. I actually waited to start JUDD so that I could do so right after getting blood work done. I'm hypothyroid, so my labs are done every 3-4 months.
My next lab is in July. Not much help for you now, but I will be posting the results here. I'm hoping, I'm betting there will be an improvement. Stay tuned. |

If you run an internet search on 'calorie restriction cholesterol' you will find a lot of interesting studies. I haven't finished reading but it sounds promising.
My next test is next Autumn. Sorry. |

I can't help with the chol. question, but my liver enzymes (which have been elevated for 4-5 years, possibly because of antidepressant med) have recently improved greatly.
I think it's due in part to doing the "Leptin Reset" (Dr Kruse). One of the guidelines is to wait 4-5 hours between meals (no snacking!) which is supposed to improve liver function. Since the converse theory is that frequent eating stresses the liver, intermittent fasting/JUDDD might also be helpful. IIRC, the liver is connected to bile production, lipid metabolism, cholesterol & all that stuff, so getting the liver healthy might improve her cholesterol levels.

Thanks, Jenny. It is her liver that's the problem, she has that genetic high cholesterol thingy. My granny died of liver cancer, so my mum's very worried about liver damage from statins - we're always looking out for alternatives that might delay the day when she has to take them if we can.
The last time she had her cholesterol down to an acceptable level she barely ate at all and ended up very emaciated and with osteoarthritis. It's a complex old problem, so I'm so grateful for everyone's help and information here. |

Oh, and I can't believe I forgot this! Does your mom take milk thistle? It's said to be very nourishing & healing for the liver.
