Another exercise question for dds
On Sunday I danced to 30 minutes of Zumba
Then the husband wanted to go for a walk. 3.6 miles At the end of the day, I had the biggest headache. This was my first day exercising since dieting. My normal dd is 380 to 400 On sunday, I ate 600 which is my peak at 35%, but I still got a headache. Could the headache be due to low calories versus calories used up... I could have also been dehydrated. I just don't want to get the headaches. I need to start toning to avoid loose skin.. See the other thread on the article. Any tips for exercising on a dd?

Have you tried just toning exercises on a DD, and leaving anything cardio based for an UD?
That's what I plan to do for the next week anyway... Last week was my first week so I didn't kill myself with exercise, but I'm feeling enough energy to start on that now. |

Hi Mariacj,
Did you keep up with your drinking water? And maybe consider some extra potassium or sodium? When you exercise it is very important that you make sure you stay hydrated. I get headaches when I don't drink enough or when I am low on minerals. I can also recommend drinking some good bone broth to help with replenishing sodium and other minerals. I exercise every day, and find that it is no harder or easier on my DD or UD. Drink an extra liter of water throughout the day and make sure you have a glass of water during and after your exercise and see how you go! Starting exercising when you haven't done it in a while should also be done gradually until you build up to your max. Go slow at first, you will have better results in the end, and also, it will prevent you from giving up because you lose motivation... Good luck and well done for starting to exercise!!!! xxx

I agree with the keeping hydrated because that can cause a headache. I exercised yesterday and it was a DD but I drank a LOT of water all day. I don't usually exercise at all but I read the loose skin article and decided I might as wewll start NOW and it happened to be a DD.

I also exercise daily and it has never bothered me on down days. But have been doing so for a VERY long while-my guess is that for your first time working out -you got in alot of exercise-I totally agree that water is your best friend-guzzle it and it should help you and work your way into working out slowly begin with a half hour and work your way up from there. Congrats on beginning to exercise -you will find that you begin to crave your workouts and gain energy from them and that you actually miss them on days when you are not exercising!!

Possible alternative reason for your headache. Do you react to pollen? You probably breathed in a lot on that walk. (Pollen has slammed me several times this Spring. I can tell because I sneeze my brains out a few hours after the headache starts.)

Anytime you "think" you might be dehydrated, YOU ARE. We can actually become dehydrated long before we ever feel a sensation of thirst. Train your body to drink up.
My personal trainer advises 16 ounces of cold water during an hour of exercise. I have no problem with this because I love my ice water. Yesterday morning I sliced cucumbers into a big jar with lots of large ice cubes and then covered it with cold water. I drank regular water until that had a few hours to just sit in the fridge. Then when I went to the gym, I filled up my 16 ounce water bottle and it was so darn refreshing! Dehydration has not only been proven to cause headaches but also insomnia, depression, fatigue, skin problems, constipation and a whole host of other problems! As a rule of thumb: Try to Drink half your body weight in ounces of water every day. I get in at least 90 ounces of water every day. Yesterday was a DD. I did 60 minutes of high intensity cardio; 60 minutes of weight lifting and strength training; 30 minutes of water aerobics in a cold pool. That was late afternoon after not eating anything all day and I felt fabulous!!! But maybe that's just me! Work up to it. Rome was not built in a day! Also, make sure you are taking a women's daily vitamin every day and some fish oil capsules and occasionally take minerals like magnesium and potassium because lacking necessary minerals can cause headaches and muscle cramps, especially in your legs.

Letting ur self get TWO dehydrated is very dangerous. When waking in the morning we are all in a dehydrated state. I start drinking right away. I find DD and to much exertion is hard on me. I don't mind the empty hollow feeling at times. Actually like that feeling, that good'ol dd glow. What creaps up on me and what I experience is the slow walk, no energy get dizzy when bending over. On dd's that when I head to the kitchen, without guilt. So take care of ur self. drink lots of water!! Please don't get to dehydrated! it can kill u. Would I lie to u? Smile good day, Ei |
