Foods you can take or leave...
Just for fun, what are some of the foods others seem to crave or eat frequently but that you rarely want?
Here are some of mine: -nuts/peanut butter.... I enjoy some cashews or almonds or other nuts from time to time, but I just don't want them much at all. It's not that I don't like the flavor... but nuts are something that I could eat a million of and never feel full, despite all the fat in them. And eating more than one or two handfuls just makes me feel ugh - greasy, oily in the pit of my stomach. Same with peanut butter - it's OK sometimes with chocolate dipped in it or the rare pb&j sandwich, but I can't get into it like a lot of others seem to.-eggs. Sometimes they don't settle well with me, and they are so rich that it's hard for me to eat enough of them to get the full feeling they are supposed to impart. They mostly just bother my stomach. I do enjoy them now and then, but I really have to be in the mood for them. -oatmeal. This one used to be a definite "eh, no thanks," but after reading all the oatmeal love on here I started trying it again. I discovered Better'N'Oats brand at the supermarket, and omg, that one is just too good (any flavor) that I could eat more than one serving. But when I went through a recent period of checking my blood sugar regularly, oatmeal was the only food item I ever caught that shot my BG up there. I just have them once in a blue moon.-dairy. This one is truly weird. Growing up, milk and dairy were just the normal, expected healthy drink, but in most of my adult life, I haven't liked drinking milk. I'd use it for the occasional bowl of cereal or for cooking, but the only time I just drank a glass was with cookies warm from the oven (so like 1 or 2x per year). But two years ago I went on this dairy kick and then last year it fit in pretty well with LC too. I was using lots of whole milk, cream, butter, sour cream, cottage cheese, cream cheese, regular cheese, etc. I drank protein shakes or smoothies with milk. I was using at least 2x the amount of dairy I used to in the past. Anyway, earlier this month, I started an experiment to go dairy-free, and I haven't missed anything at all. It blows my mind. I gave up the protein shakes since they contain whey concentrate, and I use unsweetened almond milk for drinking, cereal, or anything else I need milk for. I gave up my whole milk plain yogurt that was a daily staple. I used to eat it with fruit, and now I just eat the fruit. And nothing else I've seemed to miss either. Not even cheese. And when it comes down to it, I don't think I really liked cheese that much except melted on pizza or in certain other dishes (cheesy, creamy sauces). And I plan to have pizza and those dishes in small amounts in the future, but so far no desire yet. Oh, it doesn't help that I discovered I'm lactose intolerant, but I seem to tolerate small amounts of it, especially eaten with other foods.

Milk: have never liked it and never will

Fish- Most kinds, hate it!!! I dont mind milder fish, but if it tastes really fishy forget it. Like salmon I just cant eat it!! I cant get past the smell!!!
Carbonated drinks- I have never really been a pop drinker. I do have one here and there. It does go good with pizza and wings, since I dont drink alcohol, thats when I drink pop! Or after cutting the grass I will have some, its usually cold and taste great, I can really gulp it then!!! I prefer coffee or water 24/7 lol!!! Pasta- Well not really the noodles, its more how its made. I love spaghetti, but hate mac and cheese. If its a good topping I will eat it, if not I will forget it!!

Sweets, for me. Just don't crave them, never have. When I do indulge, I just feel icky inside. My husband thinks I'm crazy as he would rather skip the meal and have the dessert.

Let's see...things that many people like that I can't handle... well, cooked salmon for one. It makes me feel
I can only handle it raw or smoked (yay for sashimi and nova lox)!I also don't like fruit in general. I go through some rare phases where I'll eat handfuls of berries now and then, but honestly, I think I haven't had fruit for maybe 6-8 months now. If I want something sweet, I'd rather just go for chocolate or even a sweet wine/champagne. I love vegetables though. There really isn't a vegetable out there that I don't like. I'm also not a milk person, but I can't live without cheese. I don't like pasta and bread much, and it wasn't all that hard to give it up for my gluten issues. I love rice though and am so glad it doesn't give me any problems.

Sodas. I drink maybe 1-2 every 3 months. When I do, it's diet Dr Pepper or Diet Barques rootbeer.
Sweets in general, though I could eat a little chocolate every day lol. Other than that, I get a craving for a piece of pie or coconut cake now and then but not often. |

Milk- Havent liked it since I was little
Pasta-I never buy it and its rare for me to be 'in the mood' for it Bananas-The idea of them always sounds better than actually eating them Cake-I am very picky on the cake that I will eat, mostly its just a vessel for frosting for me. Alcohol- I dont like drinking it with food, and I only drink socially, but often I dont think its worth the extra calories Sandwich Bread- Even when I wasnt LC I hardly ever bought it Regular Potato Chips-Greasy and Blech Beer-Never a Huge Fan

animal products, because animals are my friends ![]() Foods I crave: smoothies with almond butter, kale, pear, and banana- YUMMY Anything from my fave restaurant- Pure Food and Wine vanilla chip italian ices and hamburger helper pizza from Vinny's in Brooklyn- SO GOOD you would never know it is vegan Green juices and smoothies, because they make me feel good chocolate, chocolate, chocolate (also covering pretzels!) |

Doughnuts -- never really ate them, and I really don't care
fast food-- I sometimes get in my head that I want KFC, but mostly, not. I don't care about any of the other burger places, etc. chips/popcorn/fries-- I don't crave these. I like them fine, but I don't crave them. Especially chips. I never really ate those. |

Fatty meats... HAVE to cut all the visible fat off.
Can't stand ketchup. (Is that considered a food?) Twinkies. Ick. Tuna in a can... I have swings where I can eat it, and then don't want to look at a can for about a year. Eggs. Again, sometimes I eat them daily, other times I can't stand the sight of 'em. You can also leave marzipan and fruit cake on the table. It will grow mold before I eat either one. Otherwise, I'm not that picky. I love sweets, so that's really an issue for me. Once I get the desire for sweet, I can usually satisfy it with a diet drink of some sort, or SF Jello. |
