Is this right??
I have been strongly considering starting this way of eating...I went and used the calculator on the up day, down day site and it said on my up days I should consume 2251 and down days 450...is this right? I feel that is a lot of calories for an up day!! hmmm...Also, how are you all tracking your calories, is there a certain application or are you just writing this down?? What works for you all? I want to get it all down before I start. I may start this on Monday. Do you start with an up day or a down day? Any other tips would be appreciated

Hi Carterby!
Yes, it's been said but can be said again This is detailed in Dr Johnson's book, and I'm sure others here can explain it better. Your numbers are unique to you, based on your height, age, weight (make sure you check those little buttons carefully when doing the calculator) and activity level. Many people leave the level at 'sedentary' so that they see the lowest level of calories and don't overeat. Here's a good thread to read: WHAT IS JUDDD? COME INSIDE AND SEE!!

It doesn't sound especially high, but double check that you are using pounds and inches, not kilos and centimetres. Also most of us don't claim calories for exercise. Did you enter that? And of course your age and current weight make it different for everyone.
If you look at the stickies you will see a list of Calorie counting sites, can't think what it is called off the top of my head. Here it is http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ju...lculators.html Personally I love ************ which is great on the computer and on my iPhone. Incidentally ![]() ![]() to the happiest forum ever. Enjoy JUDDDing.

You need to post your stats if you want someone to double-check your numbers: age, height, current weight.
It seems to be best to start with an UD...but if you are eating enough calories now, that could just be a regular day! ![]() So you could count Sunday as an UD & start on Monday with a DD. Up to you...whatever's more convenient for your life, work schedule, etc. |

I am 190 pounds, 5'5, and 32 years old. I put light exercise since I get on my treadmill 1-3 days a week. After I clicked calculate it changed it to cm and whatever the other one is.

True. But at that point the calculations for calories has already been made so you are only interested in the last two buttons - UD and DD calories.
20% with no exercise is 393/1964 Dr J recommends putting in one level BELOW the exercise you do. (this is in the book "The Alternate-Day Diet") Last edited by adillenal; 04-20-2012 at 05:12 AM.. |

I got the same numbers as you. I entered no exercise and got 1964 and 393. I would go with the ones I just gave though. Its kind of a cushion anyways. Somedays you will go over, others days Good Luck getting them all in!!! And exercise is great, but why eat the calories you worked off! Wait til goal to worry about the higher calories you get for exercising for maintance!

Thanks guys! :-) I'm excited. I did LC so many times, on and off, that it just doesn't seem to really work for me anymore, i'm hoping this will.
