Tell Us YOUR Compliments!!

I wanted to start this thread as a reminder that people pay us compliments all the time but we just don't regard them as "special" because it's not the kind of compliments we may be looking for at the time, especially while we are trying to lose weight/get healthy.

We all want to hear we look "thin" or "have you lost/are you losing weight", but what else has been said to you lately that may be just as important a compliment to help built/rebuilt your confidence?

Someone complimented me the other day on how "insightful" I was and that I could turn something that seemed very complex into something simple just be looking at it from a different perspective. I this because it made me feel wise and I like being wise!

How about you? Any compliments you would like to share that gave you that "wow, look what I can do/look at me" feeling lately?!!

Oh, I have one that's not weight related

I took on a little project for a manager, that my VP asked me to do. Not a huge deal for me, a little outside what I normally do.

The manager I did it for sent a kudos email on Monday (he said, among other things: Thanks for allowing her to demonstrate what an “exceptionally well done job” looks like), and my VP replied with this:

Thanks T... for the feedback.

Perfect thread for the day I had!

It was a DD so I usually just take my big plastic glass for the water I drink. My clients brother came over to visit him and brought pastry puffs. He offered them to me and I kindly said no. My client said to him that it was my DD and I wont eat. His brother looked at me and said "oh hun why you trying to lose weight......I love big girls....the bigger the better and your pretty sweet." Oh dear lord I could of cried right there. It broke my heart. All the work in the last month and thats what I hear!!!

But my day ended better when I went to walmart to return a skirt I bought for my sisters wedding. I had bought a size 14 pencil type skirt. But I just keep thinking I wont wear it so why keep it. I ended up getting pants, but I found another skirt just incase. I tried it on, didnt think it would fit, but it did..........and it was a size 12!!!! SO my crappy day turned quite nice and I was very proud of myself for that size 12 since when I first bought the size 14 it was a bit snug....a week ago!!! Lol!!!

My 15-year-old daughter, who usually acts like she is afraid she'll catch cooties if she's anywhere near me out in public, actually linked arms with me today as we walked into her school. I could have cried - that's the biggest reward this old mom could ask for!

I am in public education and used to be an elementary principal in a nearby small town. I received an email last week from one of my former employees (an instructional aide). She thanked me for encouraging her, insisting really that she go back to school. Aides in Texas can receive tuition reimbursements from state colleges so why not take advantage of it. I convinced her to at least take a few classes at the nearby community college. It has taken her about 10 years but she has finished and has passed all of her tests and has received her teaching cerificate.
I cried. Her email was so sweet and made me feel like I was totally responsible for her success. She did all of the work. I just pushed kind of hard to get her started. Now I am sniffling again.

Aw, what lovely stories. Made me a little bit Mind, you're all such lovely people, so it's no wonder these things are happening!

My story's a little bit naff, as we say here in the UK, but it made my day. I phoned a colleague the other day but he didn't answer the phone and someone took a message for him. When I called him back later, he said that his colleague had said that I had 'a lovely voice'.

Silly, but it made me feel special. Don't think I've had anyone say that before!

My daughter is gifted. I know parents say that about their kids all the time, but I've had confirmation. We moved her to an advanced curriculum charter school earlier this year, and she's excelling there as well. She was also accepted to the gifted school in January, but we love the school she's currently in, so we'll keep her there. Anyway, all that to say, every so often when I'm amazed by how bright she is, someone will say, "Well of course she is! She's her mother's daughter!" That just makes my day!

I have great-nieces and nephews - my niece had to do a family project for the kids at their daycare showing their family with pictures she listed me and my husband as their Aunt and Uncle! I had tears in my eyes that we were included as first family. She told me that I really was their true Aunt - I watch them once or twice a month, spend every holiday with them (they do have aunts and uncles but seldom see them). She said at first I was her Aunt, but then as she grew older I was her friend because we are only 14 years apart, and now I can be an auntie all over again with her and my nephews kids.

At a Zumba class today - I was told that I 'have great rythm' - that's always good to hear - particularly when you're not looking your best - ie I don't wear 'sports wear' and had a beetroot face!

And the other day when I was buying some Nespresso Coffee - the 2 people who served us raved about my voice! Good news for me, as I'm a corporate trainer and presentation skills and voice coaching are my areas of expertise!

Well some times what people say they try to be complimenting but often its a back handed slap I was told recent " oh my dear you have such a beautifull face and complection.. ya know... if you ""lost weight"" you really could be a knock out!" I was to shocked to respond.

I often am told that people assumed my almost 2-yr old granddaughter is my own child! My mother is usually with me and she delights in telling people that I'm the GRANDMOTHER and she's the GREAT-GRANDMOTHER.

Great thread! I went to visit my mom in the nursing home and was talking with one of the nurses. She asked me if I had any children and I said no. She asked me if I was just waiting for a while before having children and I said, no, I was too old! She thought I was around 30. I am 48!

One of these days I will change my avatar to my picture but I don't like any pictures of me yet - maybe when I get down to my goal!

My 14-yr old son gave my husband and me a somewhat convoluted compliment after we returned from an AWESOME parent/teacher/child conference. He said, "I guess the only thing worse than having parents that keep bugging me about my schoolwork would be parents that DIDN'T bug me." LOL.

Now you know you have been doing the perfect job as a parent! My kids tell me all the time they are so blessed to have parents that "bugged" them because the ones who didn't have those kinds of parents never had the confidence and ambition to follow their dreams and goals that my kids have done!

Well they are right, you do have great rhythm and you have beautiful voice. May I add that you are also a wonderful daughter.

Was just looking at a thread on the Main Lobby about "Things you thought would never happen" and I noticed someone has a kudo to me in their stats/details/profile. It says (Thanx Beeb) and the person is doing JUDDD LC style (Poster is Think1776)!

I was both humbled and thrilled that I could have influenced someone to find a WOE that they seem to love! What a great compliment for this Beeb!!
