Gaunt? Or Not Gaunt?
I was looking at some earlier threads a few hours ago (so I can't recall the poster name/thread, sorry!), and a lady mentioned that, uniquely on this diet, she is not looking gaunt. This is something I'd like to explore a bit! I'm now at the age (37) where people start remarking on gauntness when you lose weight, and how much better you look as you regain. I guess that's why one of the things that attracted me to this WOE was the prospect that it might not make one look haggard as the weight drops.
I'd love to lose 25lbs, but I know that on a normal diet, I'd look ravaged. What are your experiences? Will switching on a youth gene protect the face to some degree? Also cellulite and loose skin - please tell me you've got some good news here?! |

Nope no good news from me!
at least not on the loose skin.. i have a new problem. wrinkle in my thighs due to loss of inches.. but i need to now start to exersise to make sure i dont make a mess of my new slimmer body.. I do feel that with slower loss though i dont have a gaunt look to my face.. so that is a plus.. but!! I now have some chicken looking skin on my neck! Lmao.. i need a real strong firming cream to combatt this i think! Good luck.. and these are great problems to have now i think. ![]()

Just lost my post!
No Cellulite, lucky me! Some wrinkly skin as described above, and at almost 65 I think that is there forever. Am I gaunt, please see photo? I don't think so but if I lost any more I might be. No one thinks I look my age, but I don't think it can just be JUDDD, as I only started that in October. |

Cindy, we only have to look at your lovely daughter to know there are some kick-a beauty genetics in your heritage! YOU look maaaahvalous!
For me, I am 59. 27 pounds gone and another 20ish to go (the avi is 'before'). A few lines seem to have set up house-keeping but not gaunt. And my skin looks better than it has in decades. |

That pic is 'before' I lost. DH has me posing "Would you please hold still? Stop making faces! Can't you smile like a normal person? Now sit still! Stop making faces! %#^$ there goes the battery!" Someday I will get a current photo and post it.

I love that pic too. Although I would like to see you now too.
At 47, I think I could be looking gaunt at my weight, but I don't think I do. Just got my new driver's license today, and I LOVE my picture. Who gets to say that? My old one was 6 years old, and I look younger in the new by far. My skin is in great shape. I've lost 26 pounds since last Aug (most of it not on JUDDD however) and have a bit of wrinkly skin on my belly (but I have had 4 dc as well), but none elsewhere. And I'm not breaking out during tom ever anymore. It's really hard being my age and breaking out like a 16 yo every month. LOL So I'm glad that's gone. But like I said, my diet of choice is paleo, so it's not just JUDDD going on here, so I can't attribute any changes specifically to that. I did have a massage therapist guess my age at 32 though---LOVED that. LOL She's a friend of my mom's and wasn't even fishing for a tip.

I
Nancy's pic, too! At 136/137 pounds I don't look gaunt. At 132 I did! Not sure why but those 4/5 pounds made me look too thin and the wrinkles were much more pronounced.Staying at the weight I am I look youthful and glowing. I like youthful and glowing!! ![]() |

Agree - that picture always makes me smile.
I'm a natural chubby chops so losing weight just gives me back my face. I hate that I always show weight gain in my cheeks and chin. You can hide away your tummy in a baggy sweater but I'm not ready to go as far as take to the veil. I lost 3 stone about 8 years ago and my tummy was the only place to crinkle. I body brush in the hope that will help. I have heard that eating raw helps with the problem. I think eating enough good fats and eating raw is your best bet to having a healthy look. |

I hadn't even considered the problem of looking gaunt yet. I will have to add that to the list
I have only been on JUDDD for a little over a month and this seems kind of crazy but I think my wrinkles are going away a bit. I don't have a lot of wrinkles just some on my forehead and the start of some around my eyes but they seem to be softening. Can't think of what could be improving them other then the diet. |

just a thought. I look gaunt when I have first lost weight. But later, my face seems to fill back in. Maybe looking gaunt is a sign to other people to feed ya quick, lol! I find that the initial facial gauntness seems to "normalize" once you have stayed at a lower weight for awhile.
