Popping in to say HELLO to all my JUDDD BUDDDs

I have been spending a lot less time on LCF and none of it over here to visit and chat, but am finally about ready to leave for my 3-weeks in Colorado, babysitting one daughter's home and dog, parrot, and dumbo-ear pet rat named Sweetpea. She gets to go to Italy! And I'll be seeing a ton of my other daughter too, plus beloved granddaughter, and SIL, who I'm awfully fond of, so it's going to be a lot of fun for me.

Unhappily, DH is staying here to hold down the fort and babysit our own cat. He would be bored out of his mind spending 3 weeks in somebody else's house. He'll be happy here with his own routine, his outings with old buddies, etc. But I've been working like a whirlwind to get everything set for his ease before I leave, easy foods stocked, etc. He doesn't see well, so the more I do ahead, the less likelihood of there being problems.

I have just this weekend to finish getting everything ready, but think I can finally relax and spend more time here. It looks like there are increasingly new members joining. I look forward to spending more time here over the weekend.

Oh Pat, that sounds like so much fun! Family and animals and a totally wonderful state to explore! My DB and his completely wonderful wife lived just outside of Denver for a few years and I SO liked visiting them. (Poor things, they moved to San Francisco and are only able to enjoy every minute there.)

I know all about how life interrupts enjoying this site sometimes. I have been grabbing spare moments when I can lately.

Hang around when you can my friend. The floodgates on new JUDDD BUDDDs have opened wide and emotions are running high around here. The more words of wisdom and positive attitude, the better!

I need to spend less of my allotted LCF time on the Playground, and more of it here!!!

I'm hopeful that daughter has a PC at her home that I can use while there, rather than a laptop that she will be taking with her.

Taking breaks from the JUDDD Forum or the Playground or even completely from LCF for a short while is sometimes sensible for me, depending on what needs and demands are pressing on me, but three whole weeks without you would plunge me into a deep funk for sure.

You will have a wonderful time Pat...wonder if the parrot talks? And a jumbo eared rat?? I used to have rats and adore them..the jumbo eared ones are SO cute! I now have 6 cats, so when I need a rat "fix" I visit my friend...she has nearly 30 (though all with small ears!). I just sit on the floor of the "rat room" and let them run all over me...i love it!
I bet you and DH will miss each other...but it sounds like he will have everything he needs..hope you have left plenty home-made goodies for his famous sweet tooth!

Oh, Lordy.. his sweet tooth.

Apple pie already almost gone. Cherry pie is only missing a chunk. I'll make the chocolate frosted fudge brownies tomorrow. We ate chocolate chip cookies last night, and still some dough to bake up tomorrow. And I'll make a dozen little vanilla puddings with lids for the fridge.. he'll have to poof some of that whipped cream from the can onto them.

DO YOU THINK THIS WILL HOLD HIM ??? It will not. He's 78 years old and hale and hearty, except that he was told he has a kidney stone. I told him it was because he eats too much desserts and milk. His doc told him probably not. LOL

He eats low carb with desserts.

I think you should hide the non perishable goodies around your home...then phone him each day to reveal a new "stash"!

Or perhaps leave an "in case of emergency" supply with a neighbour?

Lol @ the doctor not backing you up...you should have had a word in his ear first...and perhaps offered a try of Brownies as a bribe if he told DH that what you said was correct!

OMG! That is exactly what I did the first few times I visited my two DDs after they'd moved to Colorado. I had something for him each day, hidden, and I'd tell him each day by phone where his treat was. So funny that you came up with this idea too.

And truthfully, I don't usually have THIS MUCH in the way of sweet desserts around here. I guess I just feel badly about leaving for this length of time. He loves his sweets so much. I just hope he makes them last awhile!

As to Sweetpea, the rat.. she is pretty cute. I saw her once before, and the antics were pretty entertaining. She gets let out sometimes and knows right where to run to, to steal the dog's kibble from her big dish. Then the rat hides pieces in a stash in the back of the unused fireplace, or behind a dresser, or in under the TV stand. She never eats any of it. Just stashes it. The dog has to lay down beside her feed dish to prevent the thief from completely emptying it!
