WOW---I am a .... well :) & a ?
I used the calculator to figure out calories.... I don't think I will ever lose with this.
Down Day = 583 Up Day = 2916 Is this possible? Also.... is seems to be ok to stay below your down day calories, but you need to get all your up day ones.... is that right? |

Well
on getting started,, if you go back and check you calculator,, make sure you input pounds not killos, and also inches for your height.. and tryit agin and see what you get.. thats all i got on that for ya.. and.,,, Yes you can go as low a zero on a DD if you like but.. the up day ones are needed for refueling your body on a down day as well as tricking the body so it dont think ,, "oh no starvation!" Good luck and keep asking questions!!![]() |

Most of us use the setting for no exercise, but you could try those numbers and see if they work for you. They're much higher than what I get, but I don't know your stats.
As an example: I'm 5'10" 39 years old weight=225.6 I get 2136/427 at no exercise and 20% WLM. |

Wierd - I went and did it again and this time I got
DD=375 UP=1876 It actually converts the inches to cm and pounds to kgs The first time it converted the inches to cm and the weight moved from pounds to kgs, but kept the same number.... ah, that's why the numbers were so high. I am not quite as psyched about this.... I will still try to give it a go |

I use the no exercise numbers as well. No way i'm eating like 3000 calories in a day as the norm. I'm sure I do from time to time though, I haven't been perfect.

Welcome! And just try it. You can start those dd's at 500, or even 600 or 700 if that's what you need to make it work at first. It gets easier to lower them after you've done a few.

Terrilyn, my stats were very similar to yours, I am older and an inch taller but not that different I imagine.
I started at closer to 500 calories on my DDs and then worked down after couple of weeks. (My DD, MintQ8, was at home and she is a demon at the weighing and measuring so had me seriously in check.) I lost very quickly then, although I was close to my goal. JUDDD is very forgiving. |

My DD number was something like yours, but I set it at 600, and it has worked really well. Don't always eat them all on DD's - but have them if I need them.

If you count your calories it shouldn't be too bad. I mean when I don't count calories I can easily overeat, but when I write everything down I naturally scale my portions back to fit into my calories and I find that I'm just as satisfied. I mean it's 8pm tonight and I feel that I've eaten a lot today and yet I still have 800 cals left. If I hadn't been counting my calories though I think I could easily have already gone over.
I used to use ****** PC to track my calories but then I discovered that ************ has a barcode scanner in their ipod/iphone app, and now I can just scan the barcodes on the stuff I'm eating and add them like that, so much easier.

! My DH started JUDDD with me 4 weeks ago and we are finding that we both like it. We like to eat different food when we diet and this WOE works great. I hope you both enjoy this as well!![]() Last edited by Babsbabs; 04-14-2012 at 05:20 PM.. |

Terilynn - it's great that your hubby is doing this with you. That built in support makes everything easier. My advice? Go into this w/a "CAN DO" attitude. I'm a shortie (5'1") and my calculated DDs was in the 300's. I took the advice of the seasoned JUDDDers on this wonderful forum and do 500 DDs. That I can do. If that still sounds too low, some members here kinda "back into" the 500 range, starting higher and lowering gradually as their appetite regulates. You WILL likely have a rough first week. There may be a few here that sailed through, but it's always rough starting a new eating plan, getting familiar with the plan and planning your meals. Plus, those first couple DDs will be hard. But just tell yourself on a DD: tomorrow I can eat normally. Most find that their appetite goes down after the first week or two as the SIRT enzymes kick in. ANY plan you choose, if you're really serious about getting the weight off and getting healthy, will be hard - there's no way to sugar coat that. Some ways are just less hard, like JUDDD.

I wanted to add my welcome to those here. I'm so glad you joined us, and I believe you will come to LOVE this plan as much as we do.
And it isn't always easy to do correctly, or even very well, right off the bat sometimes. But interestingly enough, that doesn't really matter. Most other plans, if you blow it by much to begin with, it simply doesn't work. JUDDD still works. ![]() For a lot of us, we ended up so overweight that we needed to find a place like LCF for support to try to lose some weight, and the unhappy truth of it is, many of us got so overweight because we had developed some awfully big appetites! Not very big gals, but very big appetites. Small wonder some of us now need to learn - relearn - how to eat properly so that once our figures are slim and trim, we know how to stay that way! Here's something that may make you very happy to read though... many/most of us find that the longer we're on JUDDD, eating our calories according to the numbers, not much higher and not much lower either, there is something about that spread that works to increase our metabolism for a lot of us, so you end up being able to eat more anyway! Woo Hoo! ![]() Another interesting thing that many of us have noticed is that while *carbs*, especially the simple carbs, used to drive us crazy and make us binge and cause a huge reaction to them and just leave us out of control.. after we've been on JUDDD for awhile, weeks, months, we seem to somehow be returned to a normal human reaction about those foods. We can take them or leave them, and often leave them. We can have a nice little cupcake and not have a desire to eat 8 more of them. We can enjoy some wonderful breads but still leave the rest of the loaf for another day, or tear it into chunks for the birds if it's sat on the counter too long and got stale. Don't know how JUDDD works to normalize us, but it very often is reported to do just that when you follow it. I expect you will do marvelously here. I expect you're going to love your slim self after awhile. All while enjoying some awfully good eating on all your Up Days!

I thought it would be hard to stay within my calorie limit on my UP day.... WRONG... I am at 1500 and stuffed - I don't think I can eat another bite today. My number was 1876. I have had oatmeal - salt and pepper rice cakes -- wheat thins and cheese - chili with a couple fritos and cheese and a bowl of ice cream..... This way of eating may just be the ticket...
Tomorrow --- dill pickle - string cheese - orange - either soup or shrimp stir fry..... |
