Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

Thanks for all your lovely wishes n comments! Birthdays are pretty new to me...i had my first one at 28!
Yesterday I was 41 , so it was kind of my 13th birthday! ( wonder if that gives me license to be stroppy and moody for the next 7 years? )
We went for a lovely indian buffet, its about the only time I get both my teenage DS's out with me and their dad...when food is involved!
My sons found it very funny that the colour of my cardigan matched the table napkins exactly....its not like I PLANNED it
I am halfway through the titanic book I got as a pressie....and this afternoon we went to see the 3D movie....I planned not to cry...but apparently my eyes had not been informed...and I had a good sniffle , even DH shed a few tears. (the ladies toilet afterwards was packed with women trying to repair their makeup !)
I have changed my avi to a pic of last night...if you want to know the colour of the restaurant napkins, check my cardi
In the pic I am wearing a new necklace that DH bought me from a lovely little crafty shop called Paper Moon..its a girlie girls dream.
After the amount of food I ate yesterday, todays DD was a doddle (though I didnt dare weigh..after all the choc and Indian food I am retaining more water than the titanic did......I have never had so much water weight before...I can still feel it 24 hours later..but it was worth it!)
Anyhow...please excuse the novel...I am still a bit childlike over birthdays..the novelty hasn't worn off yet!
hugs
Jo

What a lovely necklace! It sounds like you had a wonderful time and I'm so pleased. May I ask why you never had a birthday until you were in your twenties? Just my own morbid curiosity--no need to answer if you don't care to.

again!

I believe Joedi was brought up in a 'group' where birthdays were never celebrated. I only repeat this because she has mentioned it herself in the past.

I am so glad you had a wonderful meal out with DH and your boys Joedi. There is nothing like a great Indian Buffet, even if the napkins were the same colour as you lovely cardigan. Well worth the water weight.

And I totally love that necklace. You just look the picture of health and happiness.

Aw..thanks! I have just been examining the photo in close up and wrinkle counting...not TOO many...yet! Thank heavens for small avitars..lol!
No, I dont mind you asking at all Dawn! I was born into the Jehovahs Witness cult....that means no birthdays (or christmas,Easter,Mothers day,Fathers day, Halloween, Thanksgiving...and no blood...not even if you are dying!) Not much fun at all.

Thankfully, in my 20's I met my DH, and married him. He was of no particular faith, and as he was not a JW, I was disfellowshipped (ex-communicated, in other words)( This meant that my JW mother, and all my JW friends had to treat me as if I had died...and since the day I said I wanted out they have blanked me in the street as if I were invisible)
My loving DH helped me see that I had been brainwashed from birth, and that celebrating christmas, birthdays ect are part of lifes joys!
I was very conditioned though, and it took me until the age of 28, 5 years after marrying DH to celebrate without guilt and fear.
So now I do tend to get a bit over excited when one comes up!
hugs
Jo

I just assumed that particular branch of extremism was uniquely American!
I went to school with some JWs and always felt badly that they didn't get to enjoy all the fun stuff the "rest of us" were doing. I'm so glad you are able to celebrate now!
