It really is an individual thing. Some people find it really hard to eat as little as 500 calories, others can fast with no effort. But you have to find you own level. Interestingly, after a while some of the 'fasters' have to introduce more food, as they stall. But everyone is different.

I am maintaining and I allow myself up to 700 calories, sometimes I eat them all other times not.

Love the photo.

Wow Nomsad, that is an incredible transformation. 6 stone is amazing, do you still have 3 to go?

I lost 4 stone, 11 years ago but your loss puts that into the shade. I am sure you have mentioned this already in the other threads but please remind us, did you do Atkins, HCG, WW or what?

From 19st4 to 17st6 I did cambridge diet, but couldn't carry it on, so then hit the gym and ate healthily, brown rice chicken, oatmeal, no sweets cakes or chocolate, exercised 3/4 hours a day for about 3 months and thats when I dropped down 4stone, but that was crazy and not sustainable...... Iwas walking 7 miles a day 6 times a week and exercising and hour and half at the gym 6 times a week, but it did work, but it was obsessive, so now looking for a way to eat for the rest of my life to shred the last 3 stone, well until I fit in a size 12, I'm in a size 14/16 atm I would say I am quite happy as I am, but its just that last little bit, my bmi is still 31 so really want it down to 25 also I still walk but not quite as much

Thank you for sharing this, it shows such dedication. You must be very proud of yourself.

My guess is that the JUDDD way of eating will give you the weight loss you want and, more importantly the 'normality' that we all crave.

I'm lucky that because of all the exercise, I've not much excess skin, I have a mummy tummy but thats because I've had three kids I was 21stone and a size 26 at my biggest, I had my gallbladder taken out in 2009, that was a wake up call. Just shows you that you can lose weight normally, I was on the list for a gastric bypass, but its too much of a price to pay to never be able to eat a proper meal again. I'm not convinced that every overweight/obese person needs to have surgery, sometimes you just need to find a way to cut calories that suits you, I've tried everything, but this plan works and I'm happy to be able to eat a higher carb diet for the first time in ages! I'm a carb junkie!

Mimosa I love that! Must buy a jar but I am overrun with Marmite as everyone seemed to give it to Vicky at Xmas and she couldn't take it to Oz with her.

Sorry, for those who don't know, Vicky (MintQ8 on here) is my daughter.

Very happy today as after 2 UDs in a row and just one DD I am 122.6 and this is on the scales here in Devon which def weigh heavier than my London ones.

Don't know if I mentioned but Zizi restaurants have a couple of under 550 cal dishes. Very nice too. and useful for DDs.

Off out to have lunch with a couple of mates from the gym.

I'm here again - haven't been around much - as we've been travelling etc!

Too many UD whilst we were visiting friends (partly due to too much wine!! - luckily am off it for now!!). So, whilst I'm not happy with only a 4lb weight loss in the last month (had been as much as 6!), I was just thinking, hey I lost a 1lb per week, and I barely dieted!!!!! and certainly didn't exercise!! Gotta love JUDDD!!!

Do an UD tomorrow anyway. 2 MDs in a row and then a DD will not allow your body to recognize that the "famine" is over. This could induce starvation mode, and none of us wants that. One MD by accident once in a while won't derail you like 2 MDs and a DD will, IMHO.

Dawn is right. Putting the calories in is as important and keeping them low on the DDs.

Vicky, I remember when we would have been thrilled to see any weight loss at all the way we have been eating, lol. So glad that the 4 pounds have gone. Looking forward to seeing you firmly in the 'teens' soon.

It is a good read but I don't agree with all of it. It raises as many questions as it answers in some ways. I think he needs to up date it.

I found the help here as useful.

I agree, I've got the book, and it does explain a lot of the science behind JUDDD, but coming here and reading, asking questions and more reading has helped me far more in terms of making it work for me.

I so love seeing this thread active. Let's keep it that way.

Hoping for a lovely day tomorrow.

Enjoyed a good DD I think just under 700, fine for me on maintenance.

Wasn't even a tiny bit hungry until we sat in the pub at nearly 7. And that was after a good Zumba class too.

Then I had a 1/2 of bitter and a packet of salt and vinegar crisps. Then home and enjoyed a shrimp curry. All carefully counted except for the bitter. I got to 489. May go and check that now.

More of being social!! Bounce up of 3lbs today - but at least it is a DD!!!

We're off out shortly to a 'walk & wine (or coffee)' event. It'll be a 2.8 km walk - there will be about 30 new people to meet....

Will drink coffee - not wine!!!!!!!

It's probably not a good idea! I would at least consider doing the first 2 weeks exactly as written - and then some people are successful - throwing in a MD on the weekends - so it goes something along the following lines:

Mon: UD
Tues: DD
Wed: UD
Thurs DD
Fri: MD
Sat: UD
Sun: DD

Some people manage with this - but you don't quite get the same bounce and effect (methinks!)

I prefer to stick to rotation - and then see what life throws at me - but then my weight loss has been quite slow over the last month or so - because of that!!

ahhhh thanks, will do it as written, its always good to get the views of people already doing the diet Its this last 2/3 stone which is the most difficult for me to lose, I think this is a weight my body likes and fights to stay at but will keep trying, my first goal is to lose a stone by the end of the year, now I know what a plateau feels like, its like you cant change it no matter what you do, so hoping this diet will confuse my body and start to budge the last bit of weight!!!

I am losing slowly at the moment - no more than 1lb a week (which isn't bad!!) on average - but I am probably 'dieting' about 1/3rd of the time.

3 months and you have lost a stone, i guess the slowly you lose it and the better the diet fits into your life so you dont feel deprived the better!
