2nd week weigh in, not thrilled
 
Today was my 2nd week weigh in. I lost 1/2 lb. I know anything lost is better than anything gained, but I was hoping for more. The whole week was TOM and I don't know how that affects your weight as far as retaining water etc. My down days were pleasant and my up days were very filling. I only got in one day of excercise due to the second week of this flu. Please share with me how you all stay motivated after less than spectacular weigh ins. I stuck to Adkins during a two month stall so I know I will stay with this, but I used up most of my self happy talks during that stall and could sure use the help. I'm just really feeling challenged on the motivation front:dunno::p I really need to work out three days this coming week and not use this as an excuse to skip out on it. I know how creative you all are so I'm hoping for some great ideas and even some silly ones:hyst:(you know who you are). Thanks I adore you all:heart::heart::heart:

I note a couple of things from your post:

1) TOM - who knows what affect this has had
but more importantly
2) Flu!! Illness can effect us and give us water retention.

You are also not too far away from goal - so 1/2lb is a good percentage of weight loss.

To be honest, this is why I weigh every day. The day you choose to weigh may not be the day you've dropped to a new low. This could be due to TOM, Illness, Sodium, heavy (if low cal) food etc.

I've been on this journey for just over 4 months - and I've just started my 'chart', I think it's important to see that bounce. You could very well be on an Up bounce at the moment.

But truthfully, I think your not having been well probably has a lot to do with this.

Just keep on JUDDDing - it may take longer than you would like at your current weight to get to your goal - but it will happen - and remember - it's about the other benefits and the fact that you will get smaller, even if the weight doesn't always drop!

I know you don't think so, but a 1/2 lb loss is FANTASTIC considering you're so close to goal! Keep up the good work, and don't quit now that you're so close to where you want to be!

Oh Muffabuff I am sending huge hugs to you.

I agree with everything that Vicky says, the flu is a classic for holding on to the weight. I remember when poor Cindy NorthandSouth was so poorly for weeks and didn't see losses. It happens.

You will drop the weight, but it may not be fast as you are close to goal. Remember, it is not a race, we want the weight to go away and stay away, even if it takes a little while.

We have lots of ladies here who stall or bounce high during TOM, then see a loooong drop immediately after.

Flu will definitely mess up how your body regulates hydration and uses energy.

With all that going on your hormonal balance is probably impacted. There is a very good chance you are accumulating sirtuin enzymes slowly. As TOM ends, as you return to health, as those DDs do their thing you really should see some big, positive changes.

I find that I don't lose at all a few days before TOM and up to 3-4 days after, I just retain water like crazy. My scale actually can go up and stay there. I also usually don't lose weight around ovulation.

Yah, it sounds like you have every reason to not have lost much. Can't add much, other than to say "hang in there".

:hugs: As we go along on this woe, we learn so much about what causes bounces on the scale - things such as hormones, illness, cold/flu meds, high carbs, salt, exercise, lack of sleep, etc., and then when they cause bounces, it won't be so hard to take mentally. Not that any of us are happy when it happens, but we know what caused it and that it's temporary. :hugs: You're going to be fine. Just keep going.
