Question for hcg-ers now doing JUDD
I'm 4.8 pounds from goal and plan on ending this round this week. I've been using Intermountain homeopathic pellets and know I only need to do two 500-calorie days without the hcg in my system (as opposed to three).
I was going to start with a 500-calorie DD, does that sound right? Induction rules say I do 500-calories every other day and Sophie suggested I do 1900-2000 calories on my UDs during induction before I plug in my numbers to get my "lifetime rotation." I've done so many 500-calorie days on my rounds that this should be a breeze for me. ![]() TIA

I wouldn't start on a DD. I would do an UD. You wouldn't necessarily need to go all the way up to 2000 calories, but after just coming off a round of hcg, you probably need the extra protein and FAT.

Thanks...I was wondering about that. Any suggestions on how many calories I should have on my UD? It doesn't say for induction and I plan on walking on my treadmill 4-5 days per week right away.
BTW, congratulations on losing 115 pounds! KUTGW! ![]() Last edited by Violet_Dream; 04-07-2012 at 07:19 PM.. |

Thank you!
I believe that The Alternate Day Diet says that you should eat up to whatever makes you full, but not intentionally overeat. The calculator on the Johnson Up Day/Down Day Diet website is mostly for the DD calories (at least, that's what I've read). Anyway, you probably won't be that hungry since you're just coming off a round. If you add in good fats like coconut oil and butter that will give you some extra calories without adding too much food. I've been eating around 2000 (or more) calories on UD and 500 or a little less on DD. The scale bounces around alot, but for me, it's been sticking between 147 and 150 - the average is 148.8. A little up from ldw, but as long as it doesn't go up any more than that, I'm happy. Also, that's a good plan re: exercising, but don't take it too far at first - you may retain water from sore muscles. Last edited by maggielou66; 04-07-2012 at 07:30 PM.. |

Yeah, I figured I should ease into it considering I've dropped over 80# without any exercise at all.

WTG on 80 pounds lost! So are you wanting to lose more, or maintain where you are. Because that will make a difference in how many calories you can take in.
Post your stats (age, weight, height) and somebody can help you plug your numbers in to get your DD/UD calories. (Unless that's been done already and where you got the 1900-2000). Many people start at 500 cal DD's and never change from that. Some start higher and work their way down, some start at 500 and work to whatever the 20%-25% wl number is on the calculator. While it's sort of true that it doesn't matter what you eat on your UD's, it's not totally true that it doesn't matter how much. The calculator gives you an UD number for a reason. That is considered your "normal" calorie number for weight loss, and DD cals are based off of that. Now, if you can eat "normally" without counting calories, then cool. But most of us tend to either under eat, or over eat if we aren't keeping track. And neither is optimal for this woe. I'm one who would under eat, by a lot (1100 calories is eating to satiety with primal for me). That is not enough to get your body out of the starvation stress response, and continuing with that would slow the metabolism and lead to a stall. On the other hand, overeating that 'normal' number would not produce a calorie deficit to your maintenance level calories, and you wouldn't lose, and might gain. It's not ALL about calories, but they certainly do play a role. So it's best to respect both the UD and DD numbers, and try to get close. Happy JUDDD'ing!

1900ish/500 is a great place to start maintenance. Then tune your calories. I am betting you end up eating about significantly more on UD and 700-800 cals on DD (you poor thing!)
Congratulations on working so hard, being so dedicated, and seeing such awesome results! ![]() ![]() |

Food variety
Violet,
Since June 2011 I have lost over 40 lbs with hcg! I stumbled across JUDDD when I was looking at LC info. The shift in thinking for me on dd is that the 500 calories can come from any foods not the short list on hcg! I still make healthier choices but enjoy the freedom. Melissa |

I haven't been JUDDDg that long (2 weeks), but since I came off of hcg, I thought I would respond to this thread. |

I'm staying pretty much at 3-4 lbs above ldw. My ldw was 145 and my average since JUDDDg is 148.6.

I've done so many 500-calorie days on my rounds that this should be a breeze for me.
-- TIAJUDDD is SUCH a breeze for those of us who've done HCG. 500 calorie days? No problem. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt Just remember -- on the HCG diet, we went slowly down, down, down almost every day. JUDDD is a bouncing ball. Your weight will go way up, then down, then down, then up! This is Day #12 for me -- I really like this WOE. Happy Easter! |

Violet - So you're coming right off hcg and going straight to JUDDD w/o doing P3/P4? I am into my 2nd week of P3 and do not want to do HCG again. It's so strict and though I am so happy with the loss, just don't think I can handle another round of hcg. I was thinking of starting JUDDD mid May after my vacation. I am going to do regular LC til then.

I came off of hcg and straight to JUDDD. I've incorporated healthy as well as not so healthy carbs and did okay the first week of MWF DD. I'm at my first weekend of UDs and gained more than I expected. I gained a little each day even after excercising on Sunday (walked 5 miles). However, today was a DD and I only had 372 cals (a breeze after hcg) and can literally feel the weight coming off. I was down 2 lbs between breakfast and dinner and am eager to see how many more I lose.
I'm doing 300-400 DD and 1900 UD. |
