Starting this journey again with some questions

I was low carbing and GAINING and couldn't figure it out and when I did it was waaaay too late. Over a matter of three weeks I started taking the bacon fat and pouring it in the frying pan and frying my eggs. Then ofcourse I would have one or two cheat days. Yesterday after not being able to figure out how I am constantly gaining weight I went to an ap on my phone and looked up the amount of calories in bacon greese and I was like OMG!!! I was consuming atleast 1000 cals just in my bacon greese alone let alone the cream, and eggs and bacon I was eating!!

So, now that I have some uncomfortable back fat I am like let me go revisit JUDD.. so here I am. Extra backfat and all..

Question:
I want to do P90X. Can I do it on my downdays or is 500 cals not enough to exert that much effort??

I have several friends that do P90X and they eat normally and it kicks their butt. I can't imagine survivng the workout on a downday....just my thoughts.

Welcome to JUDDD! I think that calorie thing hits a lot of LC'ers eventually.

No idea on the exercise. I think there are quite a few here who work out pretty hard on DD's though. Pretty sure some protein fairly soon after the work out is recommended. And I've read some interesting stuff about working out fasted that shows it increases results.

I think P90X may be workable, but in the beginning I would do weights on DD and p90x on UD. I do Kettlebells on DD and have no problem. Welcome to JUDDD!

Like Tina I have read in numerous books and articles that working out in a fasted state increases fat burning tremendously in the body. And, I hope some of the DD workout JUDD BUDDs will pop in here and give you more advice because I know there are quite a few.

You will have to experiment a little bit. What I have done is to bring a chocolate Muscle Milk light (100 calories, 15 grams protein, 4 carbs) along in my gym bag in case I get dizzy or feel I need it. (They are sold in the little juice box containers with a taped on straw. Very convenient.)

I've never had a problem and never had to use the Muscle Milk.

However, I must say lately I have not been exercising at all. In the beginning I was working out on a schedule with a personal trainer whether it fell on a UD or DD.

After I took a break in February for travel and family funerals, I never got back into the workout habit.

When I do a lot of serious strength training, my scale always goes up because I'm very muscular and I start building lean muscle pretty quickly. I just don't want to see the numbers on the scale go up right now.

I sort of made a deal with myself that when I get into the 180's I'll start doing weight training again.

One thing I was just reading about in Dr. J's book (in the chapter on the SIRT1 gene) is why/how JUDD preserves muscle.

I've heard Sophiethecat say she has noticed being able to feel her hard muscles and I have that same experience.

Usually if I'm not working out I cannot feel my glutes or hamstrings just by running my hand over my skin. Right now I can!! It's very noticeable and feels like it does when I'm following a regular work out schedule.

Hi MLCD! Just wanted to say back to JUDDD. I'm not a big exerciser, so I can't really answer to that part of your post. But I know when I first started JUDDD, it took me a while to feel like I had energy on the DDs. So I would just offer to start out slow and go with how you feel on DD, and definitely have snacks/shakes handy, and have something to eat after your workout.

I was already doing p90x when I started JUDDD so I just kept going. Never really had trouble. Now I'm doing Insanity. I would just say try it and see how you feel. Good luck!

Welcome to JUDDD. Im a big exerciser and dont have any problem. I always exercise in the morning before work. I try to do cardio on DD's and lift weights on UD's mainly because im eating more protein on UD's and i want my muscles full of protein, also lifting weights actually makes me hungry and cardio kills my appetite so jogging or doing HIIT or Tabatas on DD's is what i do. Then on UD's i lift weights. I have weightlifting DVD's i use with dumbbells and i have kettlebells. You will have to just see what works for you. The morning of my DD's the cardio is great because im pumped from the previous UD. There have been a few times that I kinda got lightheaded lifting weights on the morning of a UD because i dont have anything in my system since the day before was a DD. I can usually tell how i feel when i get up if i think im gonna be ok or not. If im feeling like i need it i will eat a few bites of cottage cheese before i start and that helps a ton. JUDDD has helped me to know my body so well and to know what it needs. This morning, for instance, i have lifted weights and went on a jog outside and havent eaten anything and have been up since 6am and am just now starting to feel a little twinge of hunger.
Just see what works for you and welcome. JUDDD is amazing!!!
