Adding back carbs issues?

I may have to go back to doing low carb with Juddd.

I have a skin condition that is aggravated by sugar/carbs and it's all sorts of aggravated right now and painful.

Also I am suffering from constipation pretty badly.

I drink a ton of water, I eat a salad every other day, apples too. Over the last few days I've taken Castor Oil, Metamucil & dieters tea and I take magnesium every day.

And nothing, or next to nothing. And I'm having pain too.

Has anyone else suffered from constipation with Juddd? I'm not losing any weight because of it :(

Sorry you're having that problem.
Are you eating a lot of cheese or dairy that maybe you weren't before?

babykinz 04-05-2012 08:08 AM

What kind of sugars are you eating? What kind of carbs did you add?

theredhead 04-05-2012 08:26 AM

I've been reading about coconut oil and one of the benefits is that it can help you stay regular. It's so incredibly healthy, too. Perhaps adding some on your UDs could help.

What kind of skin problems are you having, if I may ask? I just found something that totally cleared up my eczema for the first time. I'd be happy to share info. It's also supposed to help with rosacea.

I have a skin disorder called hidradenitis suppurativa It also is called acne inversa. Basically I get boils that create sinus tracts and hurt like hell. I have 2 right now and I haven't had a new one in a LONG time.

I have not added any cheese or dairy, if anything I'm eating less of it.

I've had an allergic reaction to Coconut oil on my skin, so I'm afraid to ingest it LOL.

I've added back on my up days occasionally
ice cream
breading
chips
cookies
M&M's
granola bars
potatoes (white & sweet)
and sugar.

babykinz 04-05-2012 11:12 AM

Yeah , I would drop all that ice cream and stuff if the sugar is bothering you.
I do Moderate carbs, I eat some fruit and whole grains like the Wasa crackers. It just gives me some variety so on UD I am not choking down meats all day.

Go buy a bottle of Magnesium Citrate from a pharmacy, drink it and make sure you're near a bathroom for the next few hours. It works.

I'm sorry you are haveing problems. :hugs:

I've always been constipated because of some medications I take but I do think JUDDD made it worse. My doctor told me to take miralax or stool softener pills every day. I'm taking the max dose of the stool softener pills. In addition I have to take 450mg magnesium and 1000mg of vitamin C to keep regular. If I miss a single dose I'm in trouble.

I hope you find what works for you and you are feeling better soon.

I wonder if there is a food intolerance involved? Could be dairy, or wheat, sugar, or....

Maybe go back to vlc and cut out dairy and wheat. (use rice or almond milk). Keep it there for 2 weeks or so (or until your skin is clear again). Then introduce one type of carb at a time. Just dairy at one meal the first day. Then a little more the second day, etc. If skin issues return, you'll know. If not, after a week, add in another kind.

It takes a while, and you have to be a pretty good detective. But if it's allergies, it's important to find out and keep that food away. Stuff happens you can't see in response to the allergen--inflammation mostly, but also gut damage. Which then can affect your immune system and toxin load.

Hope you figure it out. I have allergies (egg, milk, cashew, sunflower and garlic) so if you need any help with the elimination diet or substitutions, feel free to ask.

I feel your pain. I'm actually going thrum the same thing right now and have put on some weight because of it. I have been having the problem for a couple weeks and have just about gone crazy. I haven't had a normal BM in 3 weeks. I have little pellets. I'm actually doing a detox today. I have been preying miralax, natural calm, get regular tea. Nothing has been working. Its like my pipes are clogged and I'm thinking I may have a wheat intolerance. Its been building since adding things like wheat bread, so today I have made a major home remedy. I blended 2 cups prune juice, 5 prunes, 1 container sf applesauce, couple handfuls spinach, 1T honey, 2T aloe vera juice, 1T castor oil and ice. It made 2 big shakes. I drank one about an hour ago and tummy is making crazy noices. I'm drinking lemon water and ginger tea. Wish me luck. I feel clogged and maybe this will help. The shake doesn't taste bad at all...lol.

and what mad4chillas said...
THIS WORKS but wow, worst case scenario id say.
and what she means by "for the next few hours" she means have the next 2 days carefully planned.

good news is at least your lost is just sittin in your butt and not some where else in or on ya =)

Some of us LCers have found that the first couple of weeks or so on JUDDD we tend to over do the stuff that we didn't eat while low LCing. For some it's sugar products, for others it's wheat, others enjoy fruit and all the different veggies that was denied.

But, as I have found, after the "WOW, I can eat this now" we tend to just go back to eating healthy carbs again. I hardly ever eat anything sugary or really high carby anymore but OMG the first 2 weeks I was like a kid in the candy store, literally!! Now most of my carbs are veggies and fruit carbs.

Maybe just go back to LC but add some good healthy carbs there? That just may do the trick all the way around! :high5:

Wow, I'm so sorry that you also have Hidradenitis :( You're the only person that I've ever "known" to have it, I've felt so alone.

Mine hasn't gotten worse with the diet though, but I do know that some say you get relief with a low carb diet, mine has never seemed to respond to it. I hope they'll some day find a cure for us because it truly is the most debilitating pain when you have active boils... for years I avoided exercise or anything that would make me sweat in fear that they would worsen. Mine do seem to be more related to hormone swings, during both of my pregnancies I was symptom free, no new abscesses. And when I'm about to get my period, that's when I find it's the most active. Mine is dormant in my armpit I think, haven't had one there in 3 years. I still have it in the groin area, right on the panty line, talk about pain... I have to go commando sometimes :) Sit down wrong and have the elastic land at the wrong spot and I'm quite sure it's probably similar to what being kicked in the balls must feel like.
