Also, I took someone else's advice and took my starting measurments: upper arms, bust, waist, hips, upper leg/thigh. I've not remeasured those, I'm thinking maybe just do that 1x a month. I'm also going by clothes-- I have 3 pairs of the exact same jeans (love them! Riders by Lee, available at Walmart!)-- I have my 22's, and I can just barely squeeze into the 20's, and I also bought some 18's when I got the 20's b/c they were on sale... Right now, I'm wearing a pair of 20's from Lane Bryant, fresh from the wash, and they fit well. Not crazy tight, just right. I might even, <gasp> put away my 22's !!! ![]() So, my plan is to keep trying on smaller clothes that I've kept around, in addition to the scale, and hopefully that will help me keep my head on straight S.

weighing myself everyday but I have a totally different mindset about it now, I know to expect the bounce so it's been pretty interesting to watch. I kind of look at it as a way to learn how my body works and reacts to the foods I'm eating. I totally agree with taking measurements, a few months ago the scale wasn't moving for me but the inches were going down and it really helped me to keep going because after all, that's all I wanted is to be smaller (even though that damn number on the scale is so important to me.) |

Question about "the bounce"... is this just weighing day to day, and seeing it go up and down with UD and DD?
or is it common to see a bounce week to week? I'm starting to get concerned... so far, my 2 weigh-ins have been low and lower, so I was hoping to never see it go up again, as long as I always weigh after a DD, and not too often... ??? ![]() |

Look at this My Bouncing Ball Stairway Chart
I am afraid that is isn't as simple as up after an UD and down after a DD. But so what? We want to lose weight and get smaller. And we do. |

OMG. Ok, I'm going to need some time to accept that
![]() my loss on LC (when I lost a lot) was more down, plateau, down, plateau... I have it all in the graph on my ticker site... sigh. Ok, going to try to absorb this, and some tea, now. Thanks for the link Kissa-- I'd seen that thread, but didn't want to look at it ![]() S. |

Not A Newbie Just Yet! Great tips! So you weigh the day you start JUDDD morning of UD as UD is suggested as first day. Then don't weigh again til morning of next UD?
I'm combining all the info I'm reading so when I start this I'll be well prepared! If I still have any ? I'm going to gather up all into 1 thread when I do start. I'm getting more and more excited realizing that I'll be able to enjoy something when going out and not saying I can't have tortilla chips or I can't have bread...YES!

Hi everyone! *waves*
I just started this diet recently too! ( Okay maybe 2-3 weeks.. ) So far the eating's great, after being a conscious low cal eater for so so long I can finally eat some food that I had forbidden myself to.. But keeping it within limits and healthy of course. So far, I haven't weighed myself for 3 weeks because I'm mega terrified of the scales and seeing failure.. But I will soon.. When I muster enough courage. Just yesterday a friend I haven't met for 4 months asked if I put on weight. It was so demoralising and upsetting.. But I guess I've to face facts to see if in heading in the right direction.. Nice to meet everyone. ^^ |

to Natasha and DCKisses! ![]() Natasha-- re: weigh when you start and then not till after a DD (so morning of an UD)-- yes. Also, the book recommends to wait till your 3rd or more DD is done (i.e. a week or more). I've managed to resist, and I'm a reformed 2x a day weigher I'm also hoping to avoid seeing bouncing, but as KISSA so recently debarrased me of this notion ![]() I'm going to try to be strong if I ever do see the dreaded bounce ![]() |

Newbie
Oh, man, I'm coming to the end of my first DD and it was really tough. I actually ate 700 cals instead of 500, but that was because I felt all shaky and weird and was having trouble thinking clearly. I trust that these days will get better as I go because of all the posts I've read. This blog is very encouraging and I'm so glad it's here.

Doin' fine
I'm totally digging the exercise I'm getting! I go for long, slow runs with my neighbor, Heather, in the crisp early mornings. I'm new to the area and she's been here a while, so she takes me out, shows me the sights, good places to run, great places to walk with my husband. In the late afternoons, I meet my husband at the gym. He has NEVER been a gym-goer, always poo-poo'd the idea of working out. Now, he's inspiring me almost daily to get a second work-out in. I'm so very happy right now.

What a great life you are having right now Kelly. Living in Japan must be amazing. I spent many years in the Far East and the Middle East, but I haven't been to Japan.
Enjoy the wonderful exercise and JUDDD. |

Thanks
Thank you, Kissa, for that encouragement. I needed it!
Since it's my first UD after a DD, I weighed myself...down 2 pounds. I know I'm not supposed to weigh myself all the time, but it's like I'm addicted to it.![]() |

Good for you eating 700 calories. When I first started over 6 months ago, I ate 900 calories on my first DD, and gradually worked down. Quote:
so glad you're coming along so nicely. We lived in Japan for a year many years ago and I cried when we left. I so loved the culture and we have many fond memories of our time there. We didn't live on base as we were civilians and my husband was working as a tech rep for a now defunct company! |
