First Month Lessons
Ok, just thought I would write this down for accountability to myself.
I will have been on JUDDD for one month tomorrow (I think) or at least close to that day and I am sticking with that one. But I thought I would write down some of this things looking back that I have learned and that I will do better on month 2. In the first month I have lost 9.8 lbs, I am a slow loser and I ate things I haven't in YEARS so I will take that loss Now, these are lessons that I learned that I need for me, I am not saying they are for everyone. Lesson #1 - Exercise - every other day is good when doing C25k. Lesson #2 - Take measurements weekly Lesson #3 - Track everything you eat, even on UD - fell into habit of not on UD the last week and a half and not good! Lesson #4 - You can rearrange UD and DD rotation for an event - don't make a habit. Lesson #5 - Weigh daily and then average on weigh in day - scale bounces Lesson #6 - Met some of the most wonderful people on the JUDDD thread on LCF. Here is to lessons learned and for stumbling across JUDDD! Haven't stuck to a plan for this long in years. Going to try lose as much as I did the first month and for a little more. Thank you to all who have answered my questions and kept me going in the ups and downs of the first month. ![]() Here we go!

this WOE is kind of like 5 steps forward and 3 steps back. but you must look at the 2 remaining positive steps forward. specially after a week and you have 6 forward steps. You lose three, then gain two. but its the reward you get for eating the foods you want. youve lost one! obviously numbers are different from anyone but its the over all picture. =) |

Claire - I have always been a little down on every diet I have been on but this one I have been so happy. Nothing off limits or life altering.

Nice lessons. Thanks for sharing them.
Claire--bounces are SO common. There are a couple threads where people posted a graph of their weight loss, and MANY of them bounced as high or even higher than their initial weight somewhere in week on or two, and then bounced lower than their previous lows again. There are SO many things that affect the numbers on the scale. That's one reason why measurements are so very important. I measure every week, either Fri or Sat (depending on which is after a DD). Even when the scale isn't moving, very often the inches are dropping, or as least shifting. And if you are coming here with a slow burning metabolism, the healing can take a couple of weeks to kick in. I lost 1 pound in my first week on JUDDD, and then NOTHING for the next 2. I was frustrated, but I'd given it a month and wasn't going to quit. In the 4th week I lost 2 and then "stalled" again. I was at my original goal, and even though I desired to weigh less, I had to quit obsessing so just declared maintenance reached. For the next month, I maintained quite well--despite finding out I had food allergies, going off plan for a week or so to deal with that, getting back on plan, going on vacation for a week and having 7 FD's in a row. Came home from vacation down 1 pound! And since then, I've gotten back into the rotations (decided it was time to try to lose a bit more) and have lost 2 more pounds in 2 weeks. I'm a slow loser, but there has been much healing taking place inside, and inches have been melting away MUCH faster than the scale would indicate was possible. My body just needed to focus on healing, and I guess it couldn't do 2 things at once. Stay the course, respect your UD/DD numbers, and give it a month. THEN make a decision of whether it's the right program for you or not. And take the bounces in stride. Even when you seem to go way up, the overall trend is down.

Maybe only weigh after a DD? That's what I'm doing, and I have yet to see a bounce. (Oh, I know there will be bounces in my future!) I'm the kind of person who hates to see those bounces, so weighing after an UD would just put me in a bad mood.

I'd advise everyone on JUDDD to invest in a pretty notebook and write every morsel that crosses your lips down (or use one of the online calorie trackers), keeping an accurate calorie count is very important, and the key to success on JUDDD.

Special K makes "chips" that are pretty good and 27 chips/crackers =110 calories. I count them and portion them out.
I agree about the journal. |

I agree with tracking is very important, hard to get into habit but very much a key to success. I have to say I love the ************ app for my phone. |
