My inches lost
I know there's a thread for this, and I'll probably put it there too, but I wanted my own thread too.
![]() I started losing weight in July 2011 by switching to a NO woe. No exercise, just no flour, no sugar, no corn, no potatoes. I learned later that I was eating basically paleo. I weighed 152. I did not measure until about 4 weeks in, and had lost 7 pounds, so I was 145 for these measurements. 8-9-11 wt 145 Upper arm 10.5 upper back 36.5 bust 38 ribcage 34 waist 35 abdomen dnm hip 41 thigh 23.5 Started JUDDD 1/13/11 at 132 and at these measurements (so in 5 months, I lost 13 pounds and 15 inches--basically around 2 inches whittled from my frame shoulders to knees): Upper arm 10 upper back 34 bust 36.5 ribcage 32 waist 32 abdomen 34.5 hip 38 thigh 21 Within 3 weeks I declared myself in maintenance at 130. Then I was diagnosed with food allergies and went off plan for 2 weeks while I figured out what I could still eat. Lost a pound during this. Started back in with 800-900 cal DD's and 1600-1700 cal UD's. In the past week, since I was still losing anyway, I decided to go ahead and lose a couple more and get to 125, so I'm back to 500/1600. Sat, 9 weeks on JUDDD, I weighed 127. Upper arm 9.75 upper back 33 bust 35.5 ribcage 31.5 waist 31 abdomen 33 hip 36.75 thigh 20.5 For a total of 7" lost, yet only 5 more pounds. I think this shows the body sculpting ability of JUDDD so well. I'm especially pleased with the changes in my mid-section (abdomen and hips). I feel pretty lean everywhere else, but still have belly fat that needs to be eliminated. And I feel like even when the scale isn't changing much, this area just keeps shrinking. Considering how slow I was to get going (and how frustrated that made me), just wanted to share how it can work when you stick with it. The healing really is more important than the weight loss, but as the healing happens, the weight loss follows.

You've done wonderfully well, Tina!
I've watched your progress as you came to JUDDD. From the initial frustrations - to entering maintenance - to learning to manage food allergies...and then the way you have bloomed and blossomed over the last few weeks after that relaxing time spent with your Mom. JUDDD's sirtuins have built up in you - the magic has kicked in for you. There has been big, wonderful change, my JUDDD bud! ![]() Congrats!! ![]() JUDDD and other IF is amazing for pulling the fat and inches out of us even when very little seems to be happening on the scale. Congrats again, and huge encouragement for your continued success on this woe! ![]()

JUDDD is healing. And sometimes the healing needs to take place before much weight loss can happen. But if you dump and run, because it's too hard initially or because you can lose weight faster on another plan or for whatever reasons, you don't give JUDDD the time it takes to work on you from the inside out, so to speak. I realize that most people are just focused on the numbers on the scale, and they are just wanting weight loss, so I guess I can understand why they are impatient and don't want to give this any longer than a very few weeks running.. But your experience really illustrates wonderfully what rewards you can expect if you stick with JUDDD, and if you stay on JUDDD as your way of life. Woo Hoo!

I am so delighted Tina, you have stuck it out even when you weren't losing. You coped with your food allergies, you accepted a goal weight that you have now left behind, and you did it with good grace.
You have supported all the other JUDDDers along the way too. I love your loss of inches, your new sculptured body. As Pat says, you are an example of not only the weight loss that JUDDD can accomplish but of its healing powers too. |

Very well done!
I'm new to JUDDD, but not to LC and I've tried Paleo in the past-- but I just need some dairy in my life Question-- I'm curious about what are your food allergies? I'd have thought that on Paleo, you'd have eliminated most of the big allergens? Thanks for being an inspiration! Soren |

Side note-- did you know that Dana Carpender is experimenting with Paleo for herself, and is now writing a paleo cookbook? check out her blog and/or FB, she talks about it sometimes. Not sure when it will come out. That said-- I think she's created a yogurt/sour cream from coconut milk. Something to look forward to Soren |

Tina, thanks for sharing!
I love knowing that people are experiencing inchloss even in maintenance! Well done on achieving your goals! I also have an allergy to food. Wheat. It was Dx last year and since then I've been pretty up and down about eating wheat. I try to stay away from it as much as I can, as it seems to build up in my body and at first the symptoms aren't too bad, but after a while of ignoring my allergy, I get terrible heartburn, rashes, bad skin, itchy eyes, IBS, etc etc. Very annoying. So now, I try to live a wheat free life and only let myself indulge very rarely. This way I can have my cake (very rarely) and not feel bad!

For me, I really had no symptoms. Except for my adrenal issues, and a higher than normal c-reactive protein number (marker of inflammation). And inflammation is so bad for so many things, I'm really motivated to keep those foods out. Just had labs done today to recheck those numbers. I sure hope they went down! |

Fingers crossed that things are on the up and up! BTW, I just had a strange question come up reading this... if you have a grain allergy, do you also need to avoid grain-fed meat? |

No, I don't believe so Sophie. I've never heard of anyone having to anyway. Most grain that is fed is corn, not wheat, though. You may have to avoid cow's milk if you have a corn allergy though.
Will know tomorrow about the labs. |
