I Love JUDDD

Today is my 18th day on JUDDD. I have (er, had) 10-15 pounds to lose, mostly gained when my thyroid meds needed adjustment last spring but not helped by the fact that I've been eating everything in sight since then! I finally decided, 19 days ago, that maybe I'd be able to limit my calories every other day, since I haven't been successful with the every-day thing--and then I remembered JUDDD and came here.

Since I don't have much to lose and have never been very good at eating low-calorie, I decided to do the 45% level, which put me at 900 cal DD's and 2300 UD's. My DD's have been more like 1000, and my UD's have been, um, at least 2300 and sometimes much more. I'm a 48-year-old perimenopausal competitive speedskater who is very active 11 months of the year--but March is my "recovery month" so I really haven't been working out much these past 18 days.

Anyway, I got on the scale this morning...I've lost 6 pounds! JUDDD is working so well for me, and I'm having such an easy time sticking to it, that I may aim for the "15 pound loss" rather than the 10 pounds that I was thinking I'd be lucky to achieve. It may get a little tricky coordinating my UD"s with my hard workout days once my "recovery month" is over (which will be a week from Monday), but I think I can figure out a reasonable schedule of workouts and UD's

So...another vote for JUDDD here!

speed skating is my second fav sport. sucks you only get to see it once every four years and i have two years to go!

Ohio Guy, do you like long track or short track? (I'm a long track skater). This year's season is over, but if you get cable/satellite they might still be showing reruns of it...NBC Universal Sports (or something like that) was showing World Cup speedskating races, both long track and short track. I think you're right...short track could definitely catch on here. They're doing some more spectator-friendly stuff with long track, too...team pursuit and "mass start." Hopefully you can catch a few races on Universal and get your fix before 2014!

Glad to hear that you like long track, too..I love the sport and even I think that watching it can be like watching paint dry! Short track is definitely more of a spectator sport, but long track fits my control-freak personality much better as an athlete. They might still be showing repeats of the World Cup Single Distance Championships from Herenveen, which I believe is the last long track race of the season; I'm less familiar with short track, so I don't know if they have some races left. Hope you can find some races to watch!

Thanks, guys! Kissa, when I say it's a "recovery" month, I mean that I really do take it pretty easy. Walk the dog 1.5-3 miles a day, do my 15-20 mn of chiropractor-ordered stretches twice a day, and skate (inline skate, slow and easy) a couple times a week. Next Monday I'll start serious workouts again, starting with dryland 3 days a week and moving into inline skating on the oval (which is currently being transitioned from ice to inline-ready) 3 times a week by May. I'm going to have to figure out my DD's so they don't correspond with my workouts. I'm hoping to have the weightloss done before the workouts get seriously long and hard, though. Not sure if I'll need to do JUDDD for maintenance or if I can get by without it...but it's working so well that I think it will always be my "go to" when my weight starts to creep back up (which, given the fact that I'm a 48-year old hypothyroid woman, it undoubtedly will!).
