I've been taking my DE regularly for about 3 weeks now, and this morning after washing my hair I noticed MUCH less hair fall. I'm not sure if it's the DE because this is definitely a cyclical or seasonal thing for me, but it was dramatic today. I call it my "moulting" season, but for some time, I haven't stopped seriously moulting all the time. This would be great if it thickens up my hair.

My hair is not thin at all, but I do get alarmed when I see so much coming out. Part of it is that it's so long it just looks like a lot in the brush or when I run my fingers through it. But there is a serious thin hair issue on my dad's side - men and women - and I don't want that! Luckily my dad chose a wife from a family with THICK hair.

I am also seeing fewer hairs dropping, I am sure.

I am growing my hair for the first time in 15 years or more. It is growing so well and looks good, in my own humble opinion. At 66, I am very pleased to see no thinning at all.

Your hair looks beautiful, Cindy! And this length is very flattering to you. I think you can go longer and look beautiful.

I've given up (mostly) feeling weird about being the "old lady" with the long hair. My whole growing up I remember hearing that long hair was only for the young. I also heard I should never wear red, purple or pink because of my red/strawberry blonde hair. I've stopped believing in those things, and do all of them freely. I may be fooling myself, but I'm happy wearing those colors and with my long hair. So there.

Well if your Avi is anything to go by, you are rocking the hair and the red. You are just gorgeous.

I don't believe all those old fashioned 'Mutton dressed as lamb' rules either. We are here pushing the boundaries, and why not?

I think I need to start taking this stuff. I read upthread about reduction in food sensitivities. I really am clueless as to what's causing my issues, as i've tried everything, but no luck

Hi everyone! Just started taking this myself so following this thread and will post what I've noticed so far and anything interesting that "comes out of" the experiment--or me.

I started with 1T in water with potato starch in the morning then after 2 days upped it to 1T in the morning and one at night, again with the potato starch. Hopefully the rapid increase doesn't bite me in the butt. So to speak. Today is either day 4 or day 5 of taking this???

The second day that I took it, I noticed a lot of mucus in my lungs to the point where I woke myself up coughing. Also felt head congestion, both of which seem to have cleared.

Yesterday (day 3) and today, I have noticed a little constipation so I plan to up my magnesium tonight (which I need anyway!). I also cut back on water yesterday from my usual 2 gallons to more like 1 gallon which may have impacted the BM activity.

The other thing I noticed today, which I've read could happen and seemed a little weird at the time, was a very sharp stabbing pain in my lower chest, upper GI tract, kind of right under the ribcage and extending seemingly to my back. It literally felt like something "ripping out." It went away after about 30 seconds but wow it was intense!

Anyway, I haven't seen a lot of step by step cleanse experiences so I thought I'd ass them here for reference.

Hmmm......wonder what was supposed to be up there^^^^

I am off the hcg, so I resumed my DE and am only at a teaspoon. Wonder if I should go higher since I am not seeing/noticing anything happening. Sorry about your stabbing chest/rib pain, sounds scary

Are you continuing the resistant starch with the hcg? I was too scared to do it while on the hcg, so I quit for a few weeks. And am not continuing til I am on P4, I am on P3 where you are to not have any starch.

POST...that was supposed to be POST...

I am continuing with the PS on the hCG because it ISN'T starch. It is misnamed. It is really a pre-biotic fiber that passes completely through to your larger GI tract. It only becomes a starch if you heat it. Which I don't do.

I'm not terribly worried about the stabbing pain. I figured if I am killing off some "inhabitants" that they probably aren't happy about it.

Oh My Dh would say "stupid auto-correct"

Good to know I can do the starch right now. Thanks for clearing that up!! I add my RS to some cold water, I don't heat it either.

No real news to report here other than I added 2 T pretty quickly and aside from the occasional constipation and that one weird pain (which honestly could have been anything), no detox symptoms to report, at least not to speak of.

I just saw that you take both potato starch and DE, is this correct?

I'm asking because I am taking up to 4 TBS of PS per day, I started almost 3 weeks ago and I am noticing a more stable blood sugar which is exactly what I was hoping for.

I got my DE in the mail not long ago and what to add that in too, but I wanted to see what taking just the PS would do first.

I want to take the DE mostly to benefit my hair and slow down any hair loss I'm still having. Most people here definitely think it helps their hair.

How much DE do you take? Do you take it at night? I guess I'm wondering what taking both at the same time will do. Any thoughts?

Count me as a new starter - while I'm not in the JUDDD clan, I thoroughly enjoyed this thread and look forward to reading more information and results.

My neighbor thinks I'm nuts - "what's Sandra's new thing?" We had split a bag of DE last summer, her for the garden and she had my share in her garage. In below freezing weather, I called and asked for my DE so I could start eating it.

I eased into it, after seeing posts somewhere about people getting blocked, so first day was just a tablespoon and second day was silica water until I knew I wasn't blocked.

As a tooth powder - amazing. My teeth felt so smooth. I put some in a tiny bowl with water and by the next day it was pretty much dried out - but, easily rehydrates.

Question for you experts here - I am seeing very different information about the hardness (specific issue - risk to tooth enamel). Mostly I'm seeing hardness of 6-7 on a scale of 1-9. Any information about impact on tooth enamel from brushing?

Earthworks Health website had lots of different uses from tooth powder to facial scrub to cleaning up oil in driveway to fridge/trash can/foot odor. And this is what I'm eating?

Have any of you found other uses for this inexpensive powder?

ETA - does great on smooth surface stove top....

Wow!! I am having blood sugar issues too. I have the RS and haven't taken it for a while. I must restart taking that. And I am currently taking the DE for my hair. I have noticed a lot of hair is just "missing" around my temples. Must be twins or something I have currently (just for a day or 2) added together my DE ( I am up to 1 TBL per day), apple cider vinegar, and liquid magnesium. I wonder if I should add in my RS to that. But then again I probably won't be able to chug it down

I drink a spoonful in a cup of water each morning - probably not quite a tablespoon. A couple of weeks in I noticed a very significant reduction in hair fall. My brush would be just full of hair each morning, and now there's only a few hairs each time I brush. My hair is pretty thick, but it's long and it was getting thin looking at the ends, so I'm looking forward to cutting a couple of inches off soon and having it look thicker all the way down.

I love it for brushing my teeth too. I told my hygienist I was doing it and she didn't seem concerned or alarmed about it and she barely has to scrape anything. And between weekly brushing with DE and oil pulling with CO, my teeth are nice and white, despite my being a pathological coffee and iced tea drinker!

MSN - beautiful new avi!

There's a ton of info...LOTS to wade through over at MDA and also free the animal. Its almost like the more I read the confuseder I get. I am going to keep taking around 4 TBS per day of the potato starch, 1 TB at a time.

So now I'm ready to try the DE as well and think I'll just start with a teaspoon in water before bed. And work up to a TB each day.

I don't really have any hair loss, per se, but I definitely notice thinning.
I'd love to see a lot of little hairs growing back. I can hope anyway.

So, you take the RS 4 times a day? I take 1 TBL of the DE all at one time. I don't spread it out. I don't even know what we should be taking, but I was doing only a teaspoon! So at least I have upped that. I take that cocktail (DE, ACV, liquid ionic magnesium) at lunchtime. I seem to remember to take my vitamins/supplements then. But have a rough time remembering to take them at any other times. I have some that need to be taken with each meal, but sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming

Oh, I haven't even gone over to any other sites for the RS info. There is enough here to confuse

I take it 3 times per day. 1 TB after breakfast and another one in the afternoon after a snack. Then 2 TB before bed, but I'll move that to after dinner and take DE before bed I think.

I think your tooth enamel is okay as long as you haven't had anything acidic (soda, vinegar, lemon juice) recently. Acid temporarily softens your enamel and if you were to brush with something very abrasive during that time*, it could damage the enamel.

(*I don't know exactly how long it takes for the mouth's pH to return to normal but I think I've heard 30 minutes? I imagine rinsing with water would help remove/neutralize acids.)

I would be cautious about that because of the vinegar.

I take raw cornstarch as a form of RS and you can't mix it with lemon juice or it loses its "resistant" properties and basically becomes sugar!

You can test it by mixing it up and seeing if it thickens. If it does...it's sugar! If it doesn't...it's still "resistant".

Thank you. Going to try to visit a little more often.

I didn't really follow a plan last year...also (or partly because), I started working a job with crazy hours.
A few days ago I started the Shangri-La "diet" and I'm already down about 3lbs.
I don't think many people around here are doing SLD but it inspires me to stay on track when I check in with LCF occasionally.
