I take mine at night and don't drink any extra water, just the glass I mix it in. When I am doing good rotations I am up in the night after a DD anyway!

Thanks for the replies. I guess, as with most things, it's a YMMV kind of thing.

I never had an abundance of energy with just JUDDD as others have - so really noticed after drinking the dirt. I think I will just do the night time thing and not worry about extra water.

Carol, I also have a pitcher with some dirt laying in the bottom, as was suggested. I drink about 16 oz. of the water and refill for the next day. I drink this water separate from when I take the swig of dirt in a little water.

I don't know. But my first instinct tells me a detox reaction. I have not had that happen to me. Then the next guess would be maybe you are allergic. Are you taking it at night? If that happened to me, I would try taking it at night and see how it effects me during the day.

I lost my way for a few weeks, but I'm back taking DE again.

I'm now taking mine in the morning at work, and I have some green DE type stuff that I take before bed. We'll see... I do have to say, skin is great, nails are good and hair is long!

It's only been a few weeks for me drinking dirt - so not seeing improvement in skin, hair or nails yet.

I looked at some comments online about drinking more water with the dirt - and it is suggested - to flush out what the dirt is scraping off our insides (I can be so scientific in my descriptions, no?). I still prefer to drink it before bedtime and awake energized. I tried it in the morning, but will stick with nighttime drinking for now.

I came here to read this thread, but I do not have an extra three hours today to do that!

On another thread, someone mentioned using this dirt as a toothpaste. Could someone please comment on that? Thanks!

I've been brushing with DE about once a week for several months. I also do oil pulling with coconut oil maybe once a month. I used to do it once a week too, but got out of the habit. Anyway, my last dental checkup in July resulted in much less buildup and scraping. Ever since I went LC I've had more buildup behind my front bottom teeth, and my hygienist says this is common in LCers. Must be the chemical change in our saliva, and those glands are right there under the tongue.

I also feel that my teeth are whiter and just feel cleaner doing the DE brushing. I feel like I've come from a dental cleaning. Drinking as much tea and coffee as I do, I definitely want to keep those stains from building up. I think the DE really helps with that.

i added it to my toothpaste(baking soda, salt, xylitol, coconut oil) which I use every few days. My BF commented on how clean and unstained my teeth seem to be, and I attribute it to my paste. the DE adds a polishing effect to it that's a bit finer than my blend of salts and I like it better now than before I added it. My teeth feel cleaner longer and I brush with plain water between uses.

I simply dip my regular toothpaste into DE once a week or so. Feels and looks great.

My hair is growing so fast these day too.

Yes, I also dip my regular toothpast into the DE twice a week. My last dental cleaning was so quick... it really helped with the build up of tartar on my bottom front teeth. And my teeth definitely look whiter!

Chiming in on the benefits of DE.....

I used to have my hair cut every 6 weeks, and now I have to go every 4 weeks since taking DE.
My nails have gotten much stronger and even while typing or bowling, they do not break anymore......have to file them down with a rough emery or snip them with clippers because they actually get in my way.

I am in a hair shedding cycle again, as always in autumn, so I am adding a daily dose of 10mg of biotin to the mix.
Will report back in a month or so with any results.
Still, I can report great hair and nail growth!

I have to admit, when I first heard about someone drinking this I thought C-R-A-Z-Y!!!!! I've read almost every page of this thread now and I'm convinced to order some. I can't wait to tell my family that I'm eating dirt!

I hate it when I travel and forget to take it along with me. Or DH persuades me that overseas customs officials may be confused...

Tammy - hope there are no side effects! I started with 1/4 tsp in water for a few days just to see if/how I reacted. No problems and I'm now up to 2 tbsp each morning. Any excess is flushed out of the body.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks Goner! I've been reading up and trying to decide what to start with. If I can plan to be home for a day or two, I'll probably start with a tsp, but if I have to start on a work day, definitely starting with less.

I still take it whenever I am at home. 1T every night. I don't think it is the kind of stuff you want to explain to customs officials.

Never had anything but good effects.

I got my order today! Had my first "dirt drink" just now. I just did 1/2 tsp tonight. I'm in meetings all day tomorrow and just don't want to take the chance. Hopefully all is well and it won't take long to step it up.

I hadn't thought about customs! LOL. I'm going to Canada next week. Hmmmm.... I have an empty spice jar, I think I'll take some in that.

I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't taste bad (I stirred it into water with Mio) and it wasn't gritty like I expected it to be.

I'm excited!

I was a convert for a while but then realized that it was making my PCOS symptoms worse. I loved the strength it gave my nails and wish I could do it forever.

I'm 4 days in with my DE and so far, so good. I started with 2 days of 1/2 tsp, then 1 tsp yesterday and upped it to 1 Tbl tonight. I really thought it would have a quicker "cleansing" effect, but nothing! It sounds like everyone has a different response in that regard. Or maybe I need to be patient with it. Either way, with all the research I did, I'm pretty convinced of the benefits.

Allison, what a bummer. I'm so sorry it made those symptoms worse.

I've never noticed a "cleansing" effect from the DE. I have forgotten to take it all week. I was in such a habit and then I don't know what happened. I bought 9 pounds from Amazon - HUGE bag... so I better get back to the habit. I told my hair stylist about it and brought her some in a plastic bag - we were laughing about me being her "supplier"... sure did look suspicious!

What I like most is brushing my teeth with it - twice a week. My last dental cleaning was QUICK! I wish I could say my nails look better after months of taking it daily, but my nails seemed SO hard that they snapped off, rather than strong and healthy.

Haha Goner! I can see you "passing the bag." Too funny!

I think I'll try brushing my teeth with it tomorrow morning. I had forgotten about being able to do that, thanks for the reminder!

Also, happy belated birthday! Hope it was amazing!!!

Anyone still taking DE? I just started up again several days ago. I want to be sure my hair and skin get all the help they can during these dry winter days. Plus I have a huge container of the stuff and if I just use it to brush my teeth with, it'll last me about five lifetimes!
