read this whole thread a few weeks ago, and have now been using DE for 10 days.
I have suffered on /off with IBS for most of my life and have tried medication, fibre supplements. This appears to have cured it in 48 hours? Without the horrific detail, all is good and daily, which is something i can not remember being the case. I just hope this lasts.... |

Kettleboy, I am so happy for you!!!
![]() I can report that several other people on the DE thread I started 3 years ago on another forum have also had good results with DE for their IBS, as well as milder food allergy symptoms; in some cases, even being able to eat foods that previously upset their stomachs! It makes me wonder whether it's the silica in DE that is healing, or if perhaps some cases of IBS are caused by parasites? ![]() I also hope it lasts for you! |

Not sure of it mode of working, but I'm just happy it works, just ordered enough to last me six months!
Hopefully longer term it will have some benficial effects on tendons, joints and old injuries, although I am tackling this from another angle currently, so probably won't know what did the trick... |

As long as you avoid the DE that's used for pool filters, all other DE should be edible.
Is it 100% DE? Some DE for livestock has other minerals or clays mixed in...they probably aren't harmful, but I'd recommend doing some research before buying if it contains other ingredients. (Or post the info here, and I'll try to help out! |

Thanks Jenny
I have asked the ebay seller the questions you pose. I'm currently paying £20 for 1 Kg of "Human grade" Feed grade is £25 for 25 Kg which would be nice |

I dipped my toothbrush in DE for the first time yesterday - what a great clean! Love it! Does anyone use it for a face-cleaner? What else are you using it for?

Yes I dip my brush in it once away too. I am sure you could use it as a mask just like Fullers Earth or Kaolin. Mixed with some rosewater or even a little oil.

Do you think it cleans better than or as well as baking soda? I'm sure it lacks the baking soda bitterness, right?

Cleans pretty much the same as baking powder, but its pretty much tasteless, so better in that respect.
The king of things to use on your teeth IMHO is MSM, if you can hack the taste. |

Don't forget about ending the tooth cleaning session by brushing or pulling with coconut oil!

I started my 1 T of DE per day again with my first "dose" already consumed. I have continued to brush my teeth several times a week with DE. I seem to be better at remembering to do that. I have my checkup in November so we shall see what the dental hygienist has to say about my less than normal plaque buildup. I can tell it is not as much as usual. That is a good thing.
Here's hoping I get the same results as last ime. Better fingernails and thicker or less flyaway hair. |

There was an interesting article in the Daily Telegraph on 10th Oct about Alzheimer's and drinking mineral waters high in silica. Certainly encouraged me to keep drinking my DE, not that there was ever a question really.
I agree about the lack of plaque build up. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have given it a break for a while. It seemed to be giving me really bad constipation. I know you have to drink a lot of water with it but I am bad at that.
Combined with adding some pro-biotics the discomfort was quite unnerving! ![]() So I'll do a month of pro-biotics to settle things and then try again. I shall miss having strong nails and it was so good knowing that this was an outward sign af lots of good things happening longer term. |

Tried it on my teeth but I still prefer my coconut oil baking soda blend I've been using. The dirt made my mouth feel dry while brushing and it seems the coconut oil does better for my keto breath with its antibacterial properties. Glad it's working for y'all though

I have a really hard time getting my DE in on DD - will I still get the benefits on an every-other-day regimen, do you think?

Can't see why not. You could try morning and evening of an UD if you want more. One with yoghurt maybe?

Just as an FYI for your consideration... I haven't read anything about this to support this. However, when I was getting my teeth cleaned, I was telling the gal about the DE. I have brushed with DE now for long time. She said I should be careful because some of the abrasive things people use on their teeth, if done daily for prolonged periods of time, can damage the enamel on the teeth.
She said it could also cause a loss of cementum at the base of the teeth. If that gets worn away, it exposes the dentin and that can cause sensitivity issues. I think I will reduce using it to once a week instead of daily. I was also told by my nutrition guy not to drink the DE daily for years on end. I don't know WHY- just something he said. I think I will research it more.

It was eBay, 25kg for £27 It's meant for chickens! Have to say it is more of a brown color, but they assured me it is food grade. Had some today and sill alive, that's a good sign..... |

There are many things that can damage enamel on teeth and I am sure it varies from person to person. The DE feels less abrasive than the Crest toothpaste sample the dentist sent me home with on my last visit. Used it to compare it to the DE. ![]() So I guess it pays to be observant for your personal situation. I have strong teeth but my DH does not so I have never suggested he try what I do.
