Difficulty staying low cal in first days of period?

This is my second period since starting JUDDD, and like last time, I'm finding it impossible to stay to 500 calories. Last time my DD was the first day of period, this time it's second day. Last time I was fine by the third day. I'm not so much hungry, the appetite suppressant is still working, I just feel really weak and like I need more. I did go over, I'll deal with the consequences, I'm just wondering if anyone else has this issue.

WOE: JUDDD/PHD, LC now that my BG is getting weird
Start Date: JUDDD 1/1/12 + LCHF 12/1/13 (controlling diabetes)
I am years beyond TOM. But I do have periodic 'starving' DDs (like last Tuesday). I suspect those days happen because of something lingering and hormonal. I try to eat carefully, but the last time that happened I did end up close to 700 calories (with 500 as my norm). Exceeding planned intake (once in awhile) had no lasting ill effect.

My IUD keeps me from having periods, but I've read of others having increased appetite at both TOM and OV. Some eat more to compensate without any real problems. It seems others just power through and have a nicer than usual whoosh after.

I'm always famished around TOM. I'm just getting started with JUDDD but figure I'm going to go over then and not worry about it. Otherwise my poor family will be walking around headless.

Yes, it's very normal to have increases in appetite around ovulation and/or pre-Tom or early days of..... I have a hard time fighting that hormonal hunger, so I allow myself extra calories. I don't give myself a hard time about overeating on those days, because I know it will be gone in a few days and I'll be back to normal regular appetite suppresion, and it hasn't hurt my overall losses any. if you need to go above your usual dd limit, give yourself permission to do it with grace. like you need more stress over food when feeling wretchedly hormonal.
I keep a sticky on my phone with the calorie amount for each 5% increment up to 45% so that if I NEED it for a rough hormone day I can go up to 35% or 40%, whatever it takes. Helps me being able to say to myself that it is still okay, within the weight loss boundaries of the intermittent fasting plan, and still have a genuine number there somehow frees me from that additional stress or self-brow-beating.
