What my scale numbers remind me of:

The tide going out!

Have you ever sat on a beach at the ocean and watched the tide go out?

The waves go out, then come rushing back but not quite as far up the beach. Another wave will go out. One comes back and washes up so far my feet get covered in wet sand. It goes back out and I can see more of the sandy beach.

Up and down, in and out. Just when I think it's far enough out that it won't come back up this far, it does! But then it goes back out and in the end, at low tide, it's way down.

On March 1st I weighed 199.0. On March 23 I hit a new low of 194.6 after going up, down, up, down. Today, March 27th I weigh 195.4. My ocean of heaviness is going down.

I'm sitting on the beach watching the tide roll away. Oh, my! I forgot about the song, "Sittin' on the dock of the bay watching the tide roll away...":hyst:

Nice analogy. :high5:

Great analogy.

Especially the part where the advancing and receeding waves gradually re-shape the whole island.

I need to keep reading posts like this - very encouraging, especially to someone who is "addicted to the scale". After losing the bulk of my weight, I would weigh every day just to keep myself in "check". After reading posts like this, I am made aware that I should expect some play on the scale.

Check out the Daily Weigh in Thread here on the JUDD forum!!! I read every post there every day. Very enlightening and encouraging and helpful towards understanding this WOE and the process. :jumpjoy:

Onderland gets closer with each tide.
Great analogy!

sazzie 03-27-2012 02:52 PM

What an original and profound analogy!

I'm close to the beach and usually sit at water's edge, so next time I'm there meditating, I will be reminded of this!

mykidsteacher 03-27-2012 03:52 PM

Great analogy!

Ahhh that brings back fond memories of Long Branch when I was a kid.

Momto2boysNJ 03-28-2012 04:36 AM

This was taken just down the road in Mantoloking :D

Sammyann 03-28-2012 06:01 AM

:goodpost: And I really want to go to the beach now!

KathyL 03-28-2012 07:26 AM

Love the analogy.

And I have some serious beach envy of those who can go frequently. As much as I love living in the country I would love being near the beach even more. :)

Yam-Yam 03-28-2012 10:04 AM

Wow you guys! You are awesome JUDD BUDDs, did you know that??:hugs: I just want to squeeze every one of ya!:hugs::hugs:

When I read "watching the fat roll away" I almost peed my pants laughing! Funny!:hyst::hyst::hyst:

Love, Love, Love that picture of the ocean!!!

I am out of town right now at a lovely hotel. DH has meetings and I just get to play.

Bummed that the ISP is so lousy! Every time I try to post, I get logged out. It's taking me forever to post my messages, so I won't get to participate much today.

Had a lovely UD yesterday. We arrived here in the morning and attended a birthday dinner in the evening. Second time in the same week that I've had cake!!! Unbelievable.

It's pouring down rain and cold outside. Realized this morning that I left my travel body weight scale in the trunk of my car in the parking garage across the street. No way was I getting out of bed to go out in the rain and get it!

This is the first day I have not weighed in a while, but it's after an UD so not a big deal.

If it stops raining, I want to walk to the local shopping mall. I'd like to go to Macy's and see if I fit in a size 10 jeans! My 12s are loose.

Down in the lobby this morning I ran in to a business associate/friend I have not seen in about 6 months. He said, "Wow! You look so great! You are really slimming down nicely!"

That was so nice and unexpected. He is a guy who does not usually say stuff like that. He did medifast last year and lost 35 pounds and was all animated talking about it last time I saw him, so it's cool that he came right out and complimented me on how I look. Makes me feel good!!!:jumpjoy:
