Do you think I will be really unsuccesful? My calories feel all over the place.

So I started with every intenion of sticking to my days as closely as possibly for at least two weeks before tweaking/changing anything.............
But it's been hard.......
I am "supposed be at 375 Down and 1876 Up
I have been:
369
1857
512
2030
456
2100
818
1850
400
1707
408
1892

A couple days were just too high.........I felt bad, and one day was more like a medium day.......and my down days have been hard...........I find it REALLY hard to only have 375! I keep going over. It seems so low to me..........

Everyday I come in here and read other people's success' and questions and am determined to make it work...........maybe I just need to get better at it? The other thing is I am determined not to weigh until after at least two weeks. I know that will give a clearer picture............But looking at the numbers I feel afraid I won't see any difference........

I think your numbers are fine. You still have a huge under eat per week. I cant go that low, I was supposed to be 280 on DD but I don't I just do 500 DD and 2000UD. Hope this helps

First off, let me congratulate you on not weighing for two weeks!! I am some kind of scale fanatic Your self-control is wonderful!

I think your calorie numbers look GREAT!! You seem to be doing very well!

Do your clothes feel any looser? That is a really good sign that nice things are happening.

Let us know how your first weigh-in goes!! We are all rooting for you!!!

Are you measuring your foods and portions and know those calorie counts are fairly accurate for the amount you ate those days?

Because, other than that, I think it looks like you are doing a pretty good job for the short time you've been doing JUDDD. OK, you were over a few times, and that isn't a help, but you weren't over by absolute HUNDREDS of calories, so while it can slow you down a bit, it isn't enough to cause you to crash and burn on this diet.

Now my biggest question is: Do you weigh yourself? Have you lost any weight since you started a couple of weeks ago? Did you measure yourself when you first started? Have you lost any inches?

The scale bounces UP and down so much (sometimes) on JUDDD that's it's actually sometimes hard to know over a short time period if you really are losing weight or not, but as the weeks go by, and you weigh less at the end of most of those weeks than you did at the end of the preceding week, it becomes apparent that you are slimming down as you are eating some amazing foods on those delightful Up Days too! I think you are going to see weight loss. LOL

AND, as some time goes by, and as you have more time on JUDDD, and as SIRT1 kicks in more from your Down Days, the weight loss actually seems easier.

Just keep on trying to do your Up/Down cycle as cleanly as you can, respect your calorie ceilings as well as you can, and I think you will see yourself slimming down as the weeks go by!

I guess if I was doing 500/2000 I would feel like I had more leeway? As it is I feel like I am failing with my numbers..........But am determined no to give up without trying to get it right!

We all have very different numbers, arrived at over time. Experience on this woe will tell you what is working, and what isn't. It took me a couple of months to really get "in tune" with my personal caloric needs, and even still, those numbers change.

Don't fret about it. Just roll with your numbers. A lot of us did the 500 cal DD for the first two weeks as recommended by the JUDDD website.

Actually your number are not as bad as you think for one.. for two i have read here somwhere while some can stick right off the bat with the DD numbers, others have a tough time with it, and the JUDDD BUDDDS have stated, that you can start off with a hger number and work your way down and the JUDDD magic will kick in and help you lower that number. So hang in there,, and belive!!

You all have made me feel a lot better!! Thank you!

I am quite confident that the calorie counts are accurate, I measure and weigh whenever possible (and have years of experience.........ha ha ha) No really, I am quite anal about checking everything. I don't notice any difference in my clothes either........but I am a very impatient person.........and I am trying to adjust my expectations.

I think the days I was over (up)...........I just felt like I blew it. And every DD is a struggle.

I am not sure I have mad will power for not weighing............I just really really want to see downward movement on the scale, and I think if I give it the time then I will............Realistically and certainly reading other JUDDer's experiences I know I should expect some up and down and fluctuations, but emotionally the scale number can still kill me!

If you were doing 500/2000, then yes.. you would have more leeway. Or even more leeway at say, maybe 550/2250.

Unhappily, most of us can't just arbitrarily choose to eat at higher calorie numbers than the numbers that *fit* us and hope to lose weight. Most of us got overweight in the first place because we overate the calorie numbers that our bodies could utilize.

In fact, actually the JUDDD Up Day number is more than our true calorie number for weight maintenance! More! It is only offset by that exceedingly low Down Day number. Our so-called fasting calorie number.

But, there are a few good news bits to always stay focused on.

Following your correct calorie numbers is going to turn you into a slim woman!

After you've been doing your correct calorie numbers for awhile, you'll get used to those numbers, and your brain will come to feel pretty OK about that amount of food.

As you follow your numbers very well for awhile, you may very well be one of us who find our metabolisms operate at a faster burn rate!! An improved metabolism!! Yay!! Because this will help you lose the excess body fat a bit more easily as you are slimming down. And..

Once you're in maintenance, you will get to increase your calories some. Another Yay! You will eventually, in maintenance, be able to eat somewhat more than you have to stick to right now during weight loss mode.

And, if you are one who realizes improvement in your metabolic function, that will allow you to eat a bit more too, and be able to just burn it up rather than turn it into body fat.

So hang in there! Let the plan work! It's worth it!

Skinny Panda: I think you will be very, very successful!

You are getting the hang of this. Meantime, there are plans out there, like "the Wendi Plan" where daily numbers go up and down, but not exactly the same every day like we do on JUDD. Many are very successful at WL that way.

Make sure when you finally step on the scale it's after a really successful, good DD and that you didn't have a sodium filled UD the day before the DD.

Make sense?

Take some time to look at some pound-loser's posts on the Daily Weigh In thread for March.

What if they only weighed in once a week on a set day? Some WI days would be UDs and some DDs. The gains would be crazy! And sometimes the losses would be over stating the average success.

I like the idea of stepping on the scale each day and then at the end of 7 days averaging it out. It's a bit more realistic.

However, I have to say that every time I hit a new low I change my stats. You know why? Because I know for sure I'm going to see that new low several more times and then bounce down BELOW it and that will become my new low.

If you step on the scale and are disappointed, that does not mean this is not working. There are so many things going on in our body.

I like one of the graphs that was posted. I know there is one on "The Scale She Bounces" thread but I saw another one, too, where the poster went up and over her original starting weight after 2 weeks of going down.

But then, it went back down and in a few days was lower than the last low! Bouncy! Bouncy!

I think you are doing a great job, also!!

Now here is a thought: How about taking a bit from your UD making that day 1800 calories and adding a bit to your DD making that day 450/500? This is still a great gap between days and maybe that little "extra" on your DD will help to make it a bit easier.

I did 700 DDs and 1650 UDs and lost very well.

I agree with Beeb on adding to your dd number a bit, if it helps you lower the UD number to where it belongs.

But even so, your numbers still look good. Almost ALL of us had some up and away days when we first started (enough that it has it's own acronym, UUAD). You just get back into the rotation and keep going. It can take a bit to settle in and find the numbers that work best for you.

I think you are doing great!

I wouldn't go that low either. I would stick to 500-600 DD and whatever you want on UD. Sometimes my DD's turn in to a MD, like today, but tomorrow is another day. Take a look at it in a couple of weeks. I have lost two wonderful pounds since starting 3/22 and if that is the pace I can actually keep then bring it on!

1892 These give you an average of 1200 calories per day.

375 Down and 1876 Up These give you an average of 1125 calories per day.

Darn close, if you ask me.
