On my first DD... which actually turned int a failed DD or an MD I did my 2 miles of walk aerobics. On my Up Day I did my 30 min weight program and 2 miles walk aerobics. Today is DD #2 and I did my 2 miles of walk aerobics. I did feel a little more tired during and after but it still felt good and very doable. I decided it is best to keep my larger workouts for my UD's.

DD yesterday, the scale is already reading me 161! Down 2#! I sure can't complain! We can DO this Pixie and Melissa! But I find I can pretty much do anything once I get in the right mind set.

Brenda, I'm not doing much exercise right now. Maybe after the first 2 weeks I'll get back into it. I'm gonna go fix my blueberry pancake recipe with strawberries ('cause I'm out of blueberries) and some bacon for breakfast.
THANK you for posting that your first DD was a "failed" attempt. Mine was too and I decided to still do the UD the next day and found I wasn't all that hungry. Today is DD #2 and so far so good.... it is 3 p.m. and I've only eaten 250 calories. I know misery loves company... but I felt HORRIBLY guilty after failing my first DD until I read here that many do more than 500 when starting. I've given myself the "ok" to do up to 700 cal's on a DD at first.

WTG!!!
My first DD went way over. I think it was like 850 calories when I was shooting for 500. Funny but now I do 850 all the time Anyway, after that first DD, I went on with the regularly scheduled UD, and things still worked great! There is a period of learning with this woe, and what matters is that you are making the effort. Eventually it will all "click", but even then, there are days we just go over on DDs and UDs for whatever reason, and that's life. We just get right back on the rotation and go on and it all works out.

So don't feel guilty or like a failure!! If you ever feel like that, post here on the forum so we know, and we'll make sure you feel better!!

We'll get there, Muffabuff, one day at a time. This isn't as hard as I thought it would be. But it's 6pm and I've already eaten my 480 cals. Hope I can get through the evening alright. Good luck to you as you learn about this along with me.

Thanks mttemple4. I made it through my second DD just fine. Was hungry late at night, but just went to bed at 10pm and I was good with that. Not starving when I arose today. Ate my scrambled eggs and bacon, but wasn't really hungry. We're going to our fav Indian restaurant tonight and I'm going to have Tandoori Mixed Grill and some creamed spinach and an eggplant dish. Mmmm. I think I'm gonna love UP days! Even though I only get 1650 cals. on up days, that ever so much more than my 500 cal DD's.

I made it through a 3rd DD just fine! Made the stir-fry cabbage slaw with 2 oz. chicken, a splash of soy, pinch of ginger and garlic and a dab of chili paste. Mmmm. The scale hasn't rewarded me the last two days however. Still hanging at 160. No problem, I have the patience of Jobe.

Congratulations on doing well.
I am so glad you are a patient person. I have to be since I am a big bouncer. I bounce for a couple of weeks then drop and then repeat. But I can see the pattern now. If you graph you weight daily your weight loss pattern will show up.

Man, oh, Man, did I ever have a good UP day today. 2 eggs scrambled with 2 bacon; mushroom-tomato-barley soup for lunch; 8 oz. ribeye, Shawarma Roasted Vegetables, broccoli slaw salad and a small piece of a baguette with butter for dinner. I've killed 1635 of my 1655 calories. I'm so stuffed I doubt I'll want a snack, but there's always S/F jello in the fridge.

And today marks 1 full week of JUDDD and I've lost 5#! I'm very pleased!

Yes, this is a real switch from pure Atkins, but I want to get the last 20# off and then I'll decide where I'm turning next, JUDDD or back to Atkins. I think I'm going to get used to JUDDD LOW CARB and have the best of both worlds.

I'm very happy about how well this is working for you. I'm surprised that you were able to lose so many pounds coming to JUDDD from Atkins low carb, as I would expect you to have little retained carb fuel & water weight stored away. LOLOL Did I miss it that you were on another plan before JUDDD?

Anyway, you are really rocking it this first week so I want to holler out a big *Congratulations* on such a good start. What a great job!

Thanks Pat. No, I came straight from Atkins to JUDDD. But I was all the way up to the grains rung of the ladder. So my body is a little accustomed to the carbs I can have on the UP day. I've been hanging right at 160 for 3 days now, so I hope I'm not stalling out or anything. I figure my body is getting used to JUDDD.

We can do this, OhioGuy. Don't see it matters WHAT we eat, so long as we do the alternate day calorie allowance UD/DD as distated by the JUDDD calculator for our height/weight/age. Mine's 489/1655 and I can make those calories carby OR low-carb, way I figure it......so long as I eat 'em and don't exceed 'em.

Thanks, Joyce and Sophiethecat. It really feel good to hit a new decade on the scale. Didn't think I'd ever make it, and if I'd stayed on straight Atkins, I don't think I would have. Wish I'd have come to that conclusion long, long ago and tried this a year or so ago. And I might add that this time when I changed my stats it felt REAL good to do it. Never felt that way before changing stats.
